It's very difficult to find books that portray women of faith who aren't insipid. This did a great job of that. Will definitely be purchasing.

I loved this quick read for children. I love how the author took Biblical and notable women of history to demonstrate the power of prayer. The illustrations were also beautiful!

I received an ARC from NetGalley but all opinions are my own.

This book was lovely!

The title "She Prayed" sums up the contents perfectly!

I loved that the first woman from the Bible it talks about is Deborah. So many people skip over her story and it's so important to tell young ladies about -
She was the only woman judge in the Bible and a mighty woman of God who knew prayers of Thanksgiving are important!

All of the stories of the Godly women contained in this book are inspiring and I absolutely would recommend it for young ladies ages 5 through pre-teen.

***Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the digital ARC of this book. All views and opinions expressed in this review are my own.***

I really liked this book because it talks about Bible women who were in trouble and asked God to help them. God helped each of them. For example, Deborah told Barak that the army was coming after God's people. Together Barak and Deborah saved God's army because she prayed.

I would recommend this book for girls ages 5-13. I really enjoyed reading it! (From an 11 year old girl)

Twelve women who faithfully prayed for God's hand in their lives. Names like Helen Keller, Esther, Lottie Moon, Hannah, and Faye Edgerton to name a few. Some names are from the bible but some are women that your daughter may not know but a great role model. This is a great devotion for mother and daughter to share on prayer and how prayer works. It is not list of demands but of aligning with God's will. A short snapshot and scripture for each women. Highly recommend.

A special thank you to Barbour Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review

This beautiful little book has a big meaning, because the title, SHE PRAYED says it all! And, the first woman it talks about is Deborah, from (Judges 4-5). When Deborah prayed, (A Thank-You Prayer to God). She was the only woman judge in the Bible. It was the way she prayed this thank-you prayer that touched my heart.

Faye Edgerton, an American missionary, lived from (1889-1968). She prayed, (A Prayer for Help). And, what she did, with the help of God, was amazing! It also helped with the Navajo language so the people could understand.

In (Esther 1-10), she prayed (A Prayer to Save Her People). For you see, Esther had a secret. But her husband, the king did not know about this secret. Then this evil man lied. Esther's cousin heard about these lies and told Esther. She prayed to God for help, then told the king her secret, that prayer saved her people.
Elizabeth Fry lived from, (1780-1845), and prayed (A prayer to Help Others), and spent her whole life helping the poor. Elizabeth asked the Queen and other leaders for help. And in so doing, her mission grew.
This is just a few stories about some of the strong women in this book to show how strong prayer can be and what a prayer can do.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

“She Prayed” was sent to me in Ebook form, by Net Galley, free of charge, in exchange for my honset review.

“She Prayed” was written and illustrated by Jean Fischer. It was published by Shiloh Kidz, an imprint of Barbour Publishing.

This book is a children’s picture book with twelve stories of extraordinary women of faith who changed the world.

Each story has a title (the woman’s name). Then, it shows either where she can be found in Scripture (Deborah, Esther, and Hannah), or the years she lived (Faye Edgerton, Elizabeth Fry, Anne Hutchinson, Mahalia Jackson, Helen Keller, Lottie Moon, Pandita Ramabai, and Phillis Wheatley. After that, there are a few short paragraphs about her and a verse. And, finally, there is a GORGEOUS picture of each.

As soon as I started reading this book, I realized that I could’ve used it in my teaching of some of them.

I would definitely recommend this book to early elementary children. They will love the colorful pictures. I’d also recommend it to Sunday School or Christian School teachers. And, it would make a really nice gift to the little ones in your life.

I read this book with my 8year-old daughter. We were both encouraged and challenged by the stories that were shared. The stories and illustrations were age appropriate for young girls ages 6-10.
Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to review this book for my honest opinion.

Timeless brief biographies about Christian women from around the globe relying on God to help them serve their neighbors, sometimes in very surprising ways. Each is accompanied by a beautiful illustration, as well as a discussion question and a verse of Scripture. This is a great inspirational choice for young readers, especially girls, and invites deeper investigation into the lives of these faithful women.

As a Christian parent, I'm always on the lookout for faith-filled books that tell Biblical stories but also keep my children's attention. She Prayed is exactly that.

She Prayed tells the stories of twelve faithful and courageous women throughout each of the beautifully illustrated pages. From the Biblical accounts of Esther and Deborah; to more modern-day women such as Faye Edgerton and Hellen Keller, these stories will fascinate and empower your children while bringing God's truth to them in an exciting way.
