Amy Clipston has done a wonderful job on her new collection of 4 short Amish love stories about 8 young people who enjoy sharing songs with their community and English groups that come to enjoy meals in their homes. They love this, and believe it is their way to share Jesus Christ,

This collection is well done as Amy always does. It deserves a 5-star rating.

An Amish Singing contains four novellas that use music as a common theme. I love how these stories bring together friends. Love, Faith, and Friendship come to life in these books. Amy Clipston writes stories that draw the reader in and make them want to turn pages. She has the reader rooting for the characters. Her stories bring life to the pages. The characters are there for one another through good and bad. Music brings healing to some and comfort to others. I was very glad to receive a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.

An Amish Singing by Amy Clipston has a group of young people who are close friends and enjoy singing. There are good messages in these four novellas with the most important being that God has a plan and He knows what is best. We must trust Him. I thought these stories were well-written and engaging. I started reading Hymn of Praise and became engrossed. I quickly read all four of these charming Amish stories. Amy Clipston is a special storyteller. Her love of writing shines in each of her creations along with her love of God. I like how these characters sang for people who were ill and grieving. Their singing uplifted their audience. The sharing of the Amish hymns allowed this group to pass along their love of God and their faith with Englishers. My favorite message from these four novellas was how we need to lean on God in time of great need (illness, hardship, grief). He is there for us and He has a plan. We just need to be faithful. These stories will leave your heart feeling full and soul satisfied. An Amish Singing contains four uplifting novellas about family, friendship, forgiveness, and faith.

I really enjoyed this book. The fact that it was split into 4 different stories was lovely. It was good to get the stories of all the main characters and additional background stories and explanations.
The stories centre around a group of Amish friends. They have been friends since they were children, apart form one who has just arrived in the community. They decide to sing for some of the members of their community who are unable to come to church meetings due to illness and also sing for the non-Amish who come to dinner at one of the friend’s houses. Each member of the group grows and relationships develop but they all have to overcome situations. I don’t want to say anymore as I don’t want to give away the plots.
It was beautifully written, with a detailed knowledge of the community and the beliefs. I will definitely be reading more books by Amy Clipston.
I would like to thank Netgalley, Zondervan Fiction and Amy Clipston for sending me this book to review.

In this beautiful group of stories by Amy Clipston, music and love find their place among an Amish community.

The first novella, Hymn of Praise, bring long-time friends Sharon Lambert and Jay Smoker together, but not without obstacles to overcome. Sharon and her family often host English guests for dinner, and they sing traditional hymns. This bothers Jay as he feels that this is crossing the line regarding their beliefs. He feels that some things should just be kept among the Amish. This is rather unfortunate to Sharon, because she is quite fond of Jay and had hoped they would eventually find love together.

Then there is Amazing Grace. This is the touching story of Dave Esh and Alice Blank. They are good friends, and Alice invites Dave to join a group that sings for their English neighbors. Dave sees how content and happy Alice is but he blames himself for a recent tragedy so he feels he doesn't deserve anything that will bring him joy, even if it means losing any hope he had for something to develop with Alice.

Great Is Thy Faitthfulness is an even more touching story in this collection. Darlene Bender's mother is battling cancer and this affects Darlene's faith. She cannot believe that a God of love would allow her mother to suffer so. She depends on her singing group for strength and comfort. Andrew Detweiler sees sadness in Darlene, so he draws closer to her. Love definitely enters the picture, and hopes that Darlene's faith will be restored.

O Holy Night delivers another sweet story. Whereas the previous story was about faith, this one is about trust. Elaine Lantz and her parents have moved to a new town after experiencing difficult events. Calvin King sees a kindred spirit in Elaine, yet she is afraid to trust. Calvin hopes that she will learn to trust him - and find love between them.

I loved each and every one of these stories. I have come to truly enjoy Amish Fiction and this book rates right up there with the other wonderful books I have read thus far.

Many thanks to Zondervan and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Amy Clipston is one of my all time favorite authors, and I truly adore each and everyone of her stories. She's become my top pick for Amish fiction stories, and I always look forward to her new releases. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this one was a novella collection before I started it, as I'm not always the biggest fan of these type of collections. However, I ended up being pleasantly surprised by just how much I enjoyed this one, and I will definitely be recommending it.

I think one thing that made this one work for me is that while it is four individual stories, each story revolves around the same group of young people that's introduced at the start, with the exception of one character. While a certain couple takes the center stage of each individual story, most of the characters put in appearances in each and every story, and I thought that this helped strengthen the plot of each short novella. I thought it was an interesting idea to have the whole collection focus around the friends singing to help spread the word of God, and I thought this was represented beautifully throughout each of the four separate stories. It's always refreshing to read about people who are eager to share the Gospel with others, and that was definitely one of my favorite parts of this collection.

I've come to expect great things whenever I pick up a novel by this talented lady, and An Amish Singing was no exception. With how short of a word count each of these individual stories had, I ended up being quite impressed with how well developed each of the individual stories and corresponding romances were.
The reader can tell that Amy Clipston truly writes from the heart, and I loved the focus on friendship, first love, faith, grace and redemption. The kindness of the Amish culture is always something that I love getting to read about, and I enjoyed it even more with all the hurt and smallness that exists within our current world.

Final Rating: 4/5.

I truly adored this collection, and I already can't wait for Amy's next release.

Thanks so much to Zondervan for allowing me to read and review this!

I loved this book! The characters are interesting and very likeable. They had problems and situations that are universal to young readers everywhere. I liked the way each novela was separate, yet definitely part of a whole. They built on each other, but could each be read separately as well.

Friends, yes this is a story of the love and companionship of Amish friends, they are there for one another in good and bad times.
New and old friends are welcome, and they do a giving type of singing. The giving that warms the souls of those in need, and this group is all about sharing.
We are given a gift of some sweet romance, and some paring up, and we journey with them as they find what is right before their eyes. The caring for their fellow community members is so beautiful, they sure knew how to brighten their day.
You can sit down and read one, but you probably won't stop with that, and before I knew it the last page was turned.
I received this book through NetGalley and the Publisher Zondervan. and was not required to give a positive review.

Beautiful stories filled with love and uniqueness of the Amish people. I've always been intrigued by the Amish singing and Amy Cliptson in these collection of stories brought life into it and made it all enjoyable in ways I've never read before.
I loved the sense of belonging and close knit families caring each other even when they are not related by blood. I loved how friendships turned into more. I loved reading how they protective they are of their culture and ways and how kind they are to non Amish people, in subtle ways sharing the love of Christ with them. It was admirable to read how eager they were of sharing the Gospel with others using Hymns and their traditional Amish songs.
Just reading about the dishes in this book makes one hungry! Lol

Amy Cliptson with ease and skill writes beautiful Amish stories filled with love, family and faith. Leaving a lot to imagination.

I recieved a copy of this book from Netgalley and this is my honest opinion.

A collection of well written Amish novellas. I enjoyed each selection. I received an arc from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.

Amy Clipston usually writes quality Amish fiction, but this set of novellas fell short of her usual high standards. Each one revolves around a couple who spend time singing for the shut ins of the Bird-in-Hand church, and for the people who come to an Amish house to experience Amish culture and food. Each couple has a road bump to overcome to find true love.

The stories are a bit trite and formulaic, and the characters are quite shallow. There is no depth or dimension to them. The settings are fine, and rather descriptive. I just wish more time had been spent developing the characters, making them seem more real and approachable.

Like I said, Amy is an author who writes great Amish fiction, but this one is a miss. Even though I didn't like this offering, I will be reading Amy's future books. Two stars.

Zondervan Fiction and NetGalley.com provided the copy I read for this review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book for very cute and an over all good clean read. The Amish community seems so pure and genuinely kind and caring. Almost makes you want to check out and go there with the way the world is going.

The four stories in this book follow a group of Amish young adults and how they delt with life and love. The group of kids sang for people in their community and for the Englishers who ate dinner at an Amish home.

Very good book thank you Net Galley for a chance to read this book for my honest opinion.

Four stories of couples overcoming obstacles like a death in the family, illness, forgiveness and more are told in this novella collection. Centered around a group of young people who participate in group singings, each story focuses on one couple and a particular hymn. Clipston always writes unique and compelling stories and this is a good collection of light reading for evenings.

An Amish Singing is a story about 4 young Amish couples. I love these short stories as they are quick to read and I can finish one and come back later to begin another. The stories are sweet and clean and very good. They are wonderful for your young teen girls, yourself, your mom and your grandma. I am so glad that I was chosen by netgalley and Zondervan publishing to receive a complementary arc of this book in exchange for this my honest recview.
