A perfectly pleasant young reader, with dynamic yet widescreen spreads of colour portraying the hyperactive young princess of a regular, slightly staid royal kingdom. The dynamism and hyperactivity come from the fact the princess can never sit still, and has only used her throne as a springboard or something to race around. The ending comes a little quickly, and doesn't exactly resolve anything, but I doubt the target audience will be worried about empathising with the girl's parents much anyway. They will have enjoyed this, though, so perhaps four stars is about right; it does feel generous but I'll let it swing. (Which isn't the only thing swinging here...)

Princess Jill Never Sits Still is a silly book with a sweet message! Princess Jill has so much energy, much to the irritation of her parents and the castle staff. But despite attempts to curb her activity, Jill keeps being herself, and is rewarded in the end. I like to think that the parents learn the value of her uniqueness as well and value her for who she is in the end.
I also enjoyed the look of mixed media for the illustrations to help emphasize Jill's movements, bounding through the castle. I think this book will be a comfort to kids who have a lot of energy and need to feel like they can be themselves and still be valuable.

Princess Jill is born into a world where her constant activity wears out everyone around her. After multiple failed attempts at "Curing" the Princess of her un-sit-still-edness, the King and Queen worry that the upcoming visit of fellow royals will most assuredly go awry.
As a parent with two incredibly intelligent and hyperactive children, I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this story. The unique illustration style brought so much life and movement to the pages, and I especially loved seeing how the princess was constantly bounding from one place to another.
