This was an interesting take on well known mythology. I enjoyed the book but there were moments when I was skimming pages to get back into the story.

Inspiring characters. A fresh twist on ancient mythology. Fight scenes that will leave your head spinning, and a twist-ending that you will never see coming. With writing as breathtaking as its cover, Lore is one for the ages.

Aw man. I’m devastated right now. I had such high hopes for this book but sadly I couldn’t finish it. I found myself skimming a bunch and then I just gave up.

I’m very excited to read this book! It will be interesting to see how Bracken weaves Greek mythology throughout this story.

Alexandra Bracken has marvelously woven ancient mythology together with our modern era into a tale of love, identity, and courage with Lore. Excellent!

This was a chapter sampler that was labeled as a full ARC. And I am disappointed that Netgalley let them change the terms after the fact. Many of us were then declined for the actual ebook, and then were on the hook for a review under false pretenses.

This should not count against my total, so I’m submitting as a review. If the pub would actually like a review for it, they are more than welcome to send me the actual ebook for it.

If you are looking for a fast paced book that resembles the Hunger Games but with a twist of Greek Mythology, then I recommend this book.

I loved the way mythology was woven into the regular world. The romance took a backseat to the major plot, which I loved. The characters were all very interesting and I almost wish there was a second novel, or a prequel.

Every seven years the nine Greek gods are forced to walk the earth as mortals as a punishment for past rebellion. During this time they are hunted by descendants of ancient bloodlines who hope to kill them and take on the mantle of a god for themselves. Lore, though descended from one of these bloodlines, just wants to stay out of it all. Following the murder of her family, she has done her best to separate herself from the fray and stay under the radar. However, when Athena, one of the few remaining original gods, stumbles into her life, Lore is pulled back into the chaos of the Agon.

I was very excited when I first heard that Alexandra Bracken had another book coming out. She has been among my favorite authors since reading The Darkest Minds. Lore is very different from that series but no less engaging. I enjoyed the characters, was surprised by several plot twists, and was anxious to find out what was going to happen to Lore and to all of the friends she makes along the way. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mythology and doesn't mind a modern twist on gods and goddesses.

I was not a fan of this book for a couple of reasons. The first is that I felt that the characters were flat. They didn't seem to react to the stimulus around them. I also really didn't like the slow beginning, and only by sheer stubbornness did I persist. If I hadn't had it as an audio book, I would have DNF'd it much sooner.

If you liked Percy Jackson when you were younger, you'll LOVE this modern-day Greek mythology tale with action, mystery, and life-or-death stakes. As punishment for the original gods, every seven years they become mortal for seven days to be hunted by descendants of the great Greek heroes. If a hunter kills a god, they assume the god's powers only to be hunted themselves. The main character, Lore, lost her parents and younger sisters in the last hunt and wants nothing to do with the hunt; however, she keeps getting pulled back in. This is perfect for high school and up.

I really enjoyed how Alexandra Bracken blended mythology with the modern day setting. I enjoyed following Lore's story, and I recommend this book for fans of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series.

This is going to be one of those stories that you either love it or you hate it. For me this one suffered from the same thing that The Darkest Minds had. Way too much description that slowed the story down. It had a lot of filler that you just didn't need and it made the story so stagnate.

For a book with a cover and synopsis like this one, I was really expecting something more engaging.

This book was REALLY info-dumpy. There was so much info-dumping to the point that everything just became really confusing. This then caused some extreme disinterest in what happened from that point forward. I think the worst feeling to have towards a novel is disinterest. For books I hate or love, I can easily write any sort of review to coherently express my thoughts. This book, however, is in a territory I would not like to venture towards. I can't find anything that I enjoyed about it which makes it very hard to write a review, and even books that I hate can get a really thorough rant from me. This one just exhausted me.

I really enjoyed this book. I have fallen back in love with mythology and have always loved reading about it. I hope to read some books by this author, Her writing style was unique.

I absolutely love Alexandra Bracken and will read anything that she writes!

Lore is basically Greek Mythology meets The Hunger Games. It starts off a little slow, but that's mainly due to world building and keeping up with names (which I appreciate a good world build). It's also definitely not an easy book to read because it deals with trauma and violence, so if that's something that could be triggering, then definitely consider the content warnings before diving in.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for Bracken's next novels!

I was really excited to see a YA book with Greek mythology so I immediately ran to request this book on Netgalley when it went up. This is a review for a sample so it'll be short, but I hope it'll convince you to check it out.

The concept for this book sounded really fun to me. Think Hunger Games but with Greek mythology. After a failed rebellion, a group of Greek gods are hunted down for their powers. Whoever deals the killing blow takes the God's immortality and abilities, but it also means they'll be hunted too. It reminded me of the Nikki Glass series (so if you like Adult Fantasy, definitely consider checking that one out), which I loved.

The plot aside, I have to say the prologue wasn't the most elegant way to kick the story off. The writing was a little confusing in the beginning. There was a lot of information thrown at us all at once. Plus, it was implied that there might be other reasons behind the rebellion. I'm sure that's a mystery that will be unraveled more later, but with so much information to start with and then a mystery too it felt like a lot. The good thing about all of it is that Lore explains the story in a much clearly way later on that helped me make sense of the prologue.

All in all, I think the book had a slow start and some bumps, but nothing major. I'm still really interested in seeing where the story goes and I feel like it has a lot of potential and room to grow!

I received a copy of this book for fair and honest review. I have been a fan of myths and legends since I was young. I know this is a retelling of those stories. It was a new spin on but there were vague moments of things I knew about the gods and their neverending war. The right of a new god that want to take the place of the gods of old. Lore ties her fate to another's. Reconnects with a long lost friend. It is definitely worth the read. It has me wanted Lore to succeed since I met her. She had this aura of confidence and bravery about her. It opened my eyes to Alexandra Bracken's work.

This book was one of the very few books by Alexandra that I actually read and enjoyed. This book was written a lot better than I expected and it kept my attention all the way through. Compared to her previous works, this one had a lot of action that took place and I was kept on the edge all the way through the book. I wish she would write more books like this because I really want to love more of her work.
