Five stars and here’s why:

First, the title is fantastic. We’ve all been there. So, I was so excited to receive a copy of this story based on that alone. Second, this book had all the points for a great YA story. There’s tons of teenage angst, but the issues of unrequited love, secrets, a love triangle, and the rents interfering with it all, kept me turning the pages all night long. Mai and Anthony are two main characters that the reader will immediately resonate with and will have to devote some time to sit down and finish the book in one sitting – it’s just that good. Highly recommend.

This book is an adorable YA contemporary and young romance. I was immediately pulled in and fell in love with Maya and Anthony. My heart was broken and healed over many times throughout their story. This book was too short, I want more! I didn’t know there was a book before this that features Maya’s best friend and her boyfriend which apparently includes how Maya and Anthony met. I am going to download it immediately. I absolutely recommend this book!

"How to Quit Your Crush" is the second of two books with characters from the same school, this being said it can be read as a stand alone. I have not read the first book and was still able to fully understand everything going on in this story. 
The characters in this book were quite likable. Mai is the high school Valedictorian with her future all planned out. Mai is not one to take risks, since getting lost in the desert as a child, but she still has a wild side deep down and who better to pull this side out of her than Anthony. Anthony is the laid back, cute, and popular baseball player who is always looking for a good time. The secondary characters in this book were great as well, Josie, Mai's best friend is probably my favorite. She sticks by Mai's side and supports here throughout the story. 
In terms of plot this book flowed very smoothly. It had a very believable feel, you could almost see it playing out in your every day life. The romance and back and forth between Mai and Anthony was enough to keep the reader interested and waiting for more. Mai and Anthony have a playful banter about them that made it amusing and cute. It was a perfect balance of romance one would expect in a YA book set with characters just out of high school. I really enjoyed this book, I just wish it was a little longer.

How to quit your crush is my first book by the author, and as standalone, I didn’t have any trouble understanding the story even without reading the previous one.
The story is sweet and lovely, perfect for those afternoons when you are looking for some relaxing time. Although the beginning is too slow, there is too much dump info about how the romance starts. The three first chapters are mostly flashbacks, and I think it would be nicer if the reader would have the chance to live the experience with the characters, instant of being told. Also, the sense of time seems odd, when the characters talk about the time passed it feels like it was years ago when it was just days or weeks. However around 15% into the story the plot is unfolded, and everything starts making sense. 
I liked the sensitives topic explored in this story, both main characters are struggling with fit in, in their own way. One of them after the death of a parent and the other is trying to belong to the family who adopted her. 
The sense of growing and the message to be yourself despite being different from what everyone is expecting of you is well done developed especially at the end of the story.
Another thing that I enjoyed about this book is Anthony. He supposes to have a touch of rebel status, but for me, he’s just funny and adorable, He’s just trying to hide the idea of missing so much his dad. On the other hand, I’m on the fence with Mai, she’s so judgemental and it was hard to feel sympathy for her because of that.  Her arc is really flat through the story, not showing any sign of growing, thankfully almost at the end she has her moment of revindication. 
Overall, the story is well written, with a strong plot and great concept.  Once I got hooked, it was impossible to put it down until I was done with the last page.
Give it a try and you’ll not regret it.

How to Quit Your Crush is a good read for me. I loved the fast pacing and the storyline the most. I have yet read Announcing Trouble where it all started with Josie and Garrett. But it’s okay if you didn’t read it because it really is a different story but the characters are from the same school. 

This book follows a story about Maya and Anthony. Both are having crush towards each other but Maya knows Anthony is not good for someone like her. The background of her family confirms that. Her parents are both scientist and always focus on the future of their children. But Maya likes Anthony and Anthony likes Maya. 

Maya knows that her parents wouldn’t accept her to be in relationship with someone like Anthony. Anthony is totally different than Maya. His life and his plan for his future. I guess that’s why the opposites attract.

Knowing that they need to end whatever feelings they have for each other, they both working on a plan where they will have a two-week fling and after that they will end whatever the thing is between them. But the question is, are they going to successfully end it?

I found myself addicted to this story and it such a great YA Contemporary with high school romance. I loved the characters so much and they feel so realistic. I wish there were more about them. I liked reading about Maya and Anthony. However the book felt too short for me. Maybe because it really was good.

when i got an email about this book, of course i said yes! i had NO idea this was a continuation of announcing trouble, it was refreshing to see josie again. 
i was very excited to see what would happen with anthony and mai. their plan to have a 2 week fling? knew it was a bad idea from the very beginning. their banter was truly amazing i loved it so much.

this book was about more than romance, it was very heartfelt and i honestly felt for both of the characters. it broke my heart to see mai struggle so much to make everyone, especially her parents, proud. there is no such thing as perfect, so we should never strive for that. 

all in all, i adored this book.

Mai and Anthony should be a terrible match. She tries to be the perfect daughter, following her parents’ plan so they never regret adopting her. After his dad’s death, Anthony has lost all faith in the future. His plan is to take an epic road trip with his dad’s ashes and then deal with one day at a time, while Mai’s going out of state for college. They broke up before graduation, but can’t stop thinking about each other. A fling consisting of purposely bad dates seems like a good way to end their feelings forever—or make them fall deeper in love.

I am a fan of Entangled’s Crush line which delivers feel good teen Contemporary romance in a category-length package. The characters in this novel shine bright. Both the hero and heroine have deep scars from the past that altered their personalities. On paper they are polar opposites, but in reality  they are more alike than anyone would believe. 

There are no “bad guys” in this story, rather the book is packed with realistic people who do what they do with the best intentions, not realizing the harm they cause. For example, Mai’s parents want what they think is best for her, so they push her to date family friend Grant. Mai’s best friend Josie discourages her from dating Anthony because she worries about Mai getting her heart broken. 

My favorite secondary character was Anthony’s mom, who while dealing with the loss of her husband, fiercely loves and supports her sons. I absolutely loved the bad dates Mai and Anthony arranged for each other. They make the sweetest couple. As soon as I finished reading this story, I ordered ANNOUNCING TROUBLE which is Josie and Garrett’s love story.

Mai wanted the "bubbles" to stop. Anthony wanted to extinguish the flame. They embarked on a two week "fling" in order to crush their crush, but their plan may very well have backfired on them. 

Announcing Trouble was such a hit for me, and I jumped at the chance to get back into this world. I was always curious as to why Mai and Anthony didn't work out in the last book, and therefore, was interested in getting the full story. I must say, I was surprised by some of the things I learned about these two, and I really loved getting to see them get their HEA. 

Anthony was known to be the go-with-flow fun party boy. He didn't take his grades too seriously, and didn't seem to have any concrete post graduation plans. It seemed as though losing his father had a huge impact on Anthony and the way he thought about many things, such as relationships and his future. It was really his journey, that gripped me and didn't let go. I felt those tears welling up almost every time he started to unpack his baggage. I also loved learning about all these different sides of Anthony, which he kept hidden. He was a lot more complex, than I had anticipated, and it was a treat peeling back those layers. 

Mai also carried some baggage. She hadn't always been *this* Mai, the merit scholar winning valedictorian with the five-year-plus plan. It was a combination of things, which resulted in this version of her, but I discovered it was partially driven by fear. That aspect of her story sort of broke my heart, but it made me more happy to know she had Anthony in her corner. 

Now that I got all the big emotional stuff out of the way, I have to talk about how fun this book was. Mai and Anthony were a great pairing. They had chemistry and sparks, and the banter between them was noteworthy. I thought the dates were fantastic, and they were also used well. The dates let us learn about and understand Mai and Anthony, while also allowing these two to grow closer. 

I cannot forget to mention how much I enjoyed myself on the trail. Anthony inserted himself back into Mai's life by volunteering for the same service project as her, rehabbing a desert trail. I live in the northeast, and am not well acquainted with the desert. Therefore, I found my time out there quite interesting, and I like that Dominy really worked some of the location into the story. 

Overall: This book had it all! It had great characters, swoony romance, fabulous banter, emotional depth, and even a grand gesture, which combined to yield a perfect escape for me.

HOW TO QUIT YOUR CRUSH is a fun YA contemporary romance. The book follows Maya (Mai) and Anthony, who seem to come from different worlds. They have recently graduated from high school, and Maya has big plans for her future- plans she is afraid to deviate from. She was adopted as an infant, and carries a lot of feelings around that adoption. She is desperate to fit in with her family, and so, she lets her parents have strong sway over her actions- so that she can be the perfect Senn.

Anthony is an athlete whose life was thrown for a loop when his father died. Now, he can't imagine making any plans and has a hard time connecting with other people. He lives each day as it comes, and is planning a semi-unplanned trip to take his father's urn for the traveling his father spoke about when he was alive. He has not thought about college or what he wants out of his future long-term.

Mai and Anthony seem like oil and water, but they feel an intense pull towards the other. When Anthony proposes a two-week fling to get each other out of their heads, Mai agrees- and they begin to plan dates the other will hate. However, that seems to be tough to accomplish, when they both enjoy being with the other so much.

This book was delicious tension and so much chemistry, it heated up every scene the two were in together. Each has a big hurdle around parents and growing up that they must overcome to be able to be with each other. There are a lot of great points about love, family, and balance that shine through their stories. Overall, this was a highly enjoyable romance read with a couple that was exceptionally easy to cheer for. This series is really fantastic, and this book (stand-alone) is heartwarming and steamy tension (kisses only, second base mentioned/not described) and loads of fun.

This had all of the makings of a great YA book. Some unrequited love, possible love triangle, forbidden love, parental interference, and secrets. Seriously a perfect recipe for a YA love story. I enjoyed Mai and Anthony's stories and interactions. It was a quick and to the point story. I would definitely read more about them.

WHAT HAS REALLY WORKED FOR ME

Addictiveness: 5/5  This was wonderful! It was a fun, cute, fast-paced read that had me reading in one sitting. I couldn’t let go of this book. As addictive as chocolate!!!

Character: hero 4.5/5, heroine 4.5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 I loved them all. They were so easy to love, connect and understand.

Mai was a wonderful heroine. She was a nerd. Valedictorian of her class, an overachiever that had her future all planned out. Even though she may sound boring, she wasn’t. She had a wild side that she let out sometimes. Also there were no loopholes in her character arch and it was easy to understand why she was like that. She had a great personal growth during the book and she was really easy to love and connect.

Anthony was a perfect book boyfriend. That boy was dreamy. He was very chilled, laidback, always looking for a good time. He was popular, a star athlete, but very cute and fun. He also had a perfect explanation for being like that and his personal growth was beautiful to follow. He was so easy to love and understand.

Secondary characters… so many amazing characters. I can see this series going far, because there are many interesting characters to be yet explored. There are also some that I’m still on the fence with, like Mai’s parents and brother. Ethan… what a complex characters that I totally hated here, but I also can see him getting his own book in the future.

Villains and/or antagonists… we can say that Mai’s family might be sort of an antagonist, but at the same time, I believe their biggest conflicts were their internal wars. Their fears had different effect on both Mai and Anthony.

They were all lovable characters!!!

Cover: art 4.5/5, title 5/5, color-font 4.5/5, buy 5/5  I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. This one was a great one. I loved the title, it really caught me. The subtitle was very pertinent to the story and the fact that we had “Anthony”on the cover worked because this wonderful plan was his idea. The art work was cute. If I could find something bad to say, I guess I would love to have one more standing out color on the art: maybe the grass or his eyes. I would definitely buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!!!

Plot: believable 4/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 4/5, pace 4/5, setting 4/5, subplots 5/5, twists 4/5  Awesome opening and perfect ending. Very believable plot, with great dialogues in a fast-paced romance. Good setting, enjoyable subplots with a bit of a twist at the end. Highest level of enjoyment!

I loved this story. The plot was cohesive, but interesting. The story kept me guessing until the end.

If I were to find fault on anything, I would say I wish the book was a bit longer.

Romance: believable 4/5, chemistry 5/5, description 4/5, development 5/5, steam 1/5  This was a cute, sweet romance. The couple’s chemistry was undeniable. They were really hot for each other, but at the same time they were sweet together. Their romance had the perfect pace and their bad dates were wonderful and lots of fun. SWEET LOVE!!!

Writing Style: 4.5/5 Well developed characters, cohesive plot, fun romance and amazing dialogues. What else could I want? Amazing writing!!!

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER

Freshness: 3/5 There was nothing new on this story. It had everything that all teen stories have out there. The usual clichés. But at the same time, it is so well written that it doesn’t really matter. Why. change what has been working? As fresh as mint tea!!!

Wow!!! I loved it!

This was my first book by the author, but it definitely won’t be my last.

I haven’t read the first book, I didn’t even know it had one, but I will do it now. Even though I understood everything of the story, I know reading them in order will enhance my feelings and connection with the characters.

A cute romance that I would love to see progressing!!!!

Mai was valedictorian, a National Merit Scholar and was accepted to the college of her dreams. She's logical, she's organized, and she follows the rules. Anthony, on the other hand, played baseball in school but has no plans for the future, and he's perfectly happy that way. He likes to try new things and take risks, two things Mai hates with a passion. They're pretty much wrong for each other in every single way, but their chemistry just won't seem to go away. They saw each other for two short weeks in the spring before she called it off because she knew she'd never end up with a guy like him. When they bump into each other at a graduation party, though, it's clear they have unfinished business. So they decide to try a 2-week "fling" to remind themselves exactly why they're wrong for each other. They'll go on dates designed to make each other miserable, wear clothes the other person will hate, and intentionally drive each other crazy in the hopes that they can force themselves to get over it. But maybe the fact that they're opposites actually makes them perfect for each other....

I liked the first book in this series and really hoped that Mai would get her own story. I'm so glad she did, and it was even better than I expected. Mai feels like she has to be perfect in order to deserve her place with her adopted family, but there is a whole other side to her just dying to be let free: the side that wears bright red lipstick and makes decisions for herself. Anthony lets her be who she really is because he has no expectations from her, and that's something Mai has never experienced with anyone in her life. He's got his own baggage, because he's still grieving the loss of his dad and is afraid to plan for a future that might never happen. But these two call each other on their BS and bring out the best in each other. Their banter is HILARIOUS and the swoon is off-the-charts. I just love the two of them together.

I'm not sure where this series might go from here, but I do hope this isn't the last we see of these characters.

I first heard about this book from an article I read about new 2020 releases. I’ve always been a total sucker for a good romance book. So when I read the synopsis, I was intrigued. Our story follows Mia Senn and Anthony Adams as they attempt to move past this “crush” they’ve established on each other. Mia is very much a driven person. She knows what she wants and nothing is going to stop her. Anthony is very much a go with the flow kind of person. These two characters couldn’t be more different for each other and yet… it works. The author does a brilliant job displaying their chemistry. It’s almost like you’re right there in the back seat watching it all unfold. We go on this journey with the two characters and really see just how alike/different they are. We truly start to care about not just the relationship, but the characters themselves. I think my favorite thing about this book is the character growth. The author did an AMAZING job making two weeks feel like months. This book is a perfect summer read, especially people getting ready to head off to college. It’s funny, quirky, and just a good time. I’ll defiantly be adding this book to my collection when it comes out.

How to Quit Your Crush is an Opposites Attract Young Adult Romance about Mai and Anthony. 

I was so excited when Entangled Publishing contacted whether I was interested in reviewing How to Quit Your Crush, because I loved Announcing Trouble. I obviously couldn’t say no and I was so happy that I got to read an ARC copy of How to Quit Your Crush. The story was so fast paced, and I couldn’t stop smiling the entire time. 

How to Quit Your Crush is about Mai and Anthony who dated for a little while but broke things off because they were so different. But they can’t get each other out of their heads… I think that this story was so cute and just everything that I needed. I really liked Anthony because he tried to show Mai that it’s okay to want things. And I just loved the effort Mai and Anthony put in their ‘horrible’ dates.

How to Quit Your Crush was such a good read and I didn’t expect anything else from Amy Fellner Dominy. I really liked Announcing Trouble so it was no surprise that I was going to love this book. I really enjoyed reading How to Quit Your Crush and I cannot wait to read some more books by Amy Fellner Dominy!

This is my first book from this author and I enjoyed it a lot. The characters were good, the story-line was great and the writing was fantastic. There was never a moment where I wanted to quit reading this story. I was intrigued from beginning to end. I especially loved Anthony, he was funny, sweet. carefree and charming and had you rooting for him. Maya "Mai" was a good character. I thought she was a little judgmental at times but after you really get to know her character, you get to understand why she acted the way she did and you feel sorry for her. It's hard to live up to the standards that people place on you but there comes a time when you must decide if you want to live up to their standards or yours. Josie, Garrett, Tucker, Cooper and Grant were great side characters. I'm I'm still not sure how I feel about Ethan and his parents but I loved Anthony's mom. I laughed a lot while reading this story. It really is a sweet and funny romance read that will brighten your day and have you wanting more. I look forward to reading Josie's story.

Would I purchase it for a family member or friend? Yes!
Would I read more books from this author? Absolutely!

I cannot tell you how happy I was when I got a notification that this book was up on NetGalley! I loved the first one and couldn’t wait to delve back into this world but this time focusing on the lives of Mai and Anthony. 

This can be read as a standalone but it will spoil Announcing Trouble! 

I found myself completely addicted to this story and ended up reading it in one sitting. I could not put this book down and I was so desperate to find out how their story finished. This book made me laugh, it made me smile and it also made me tear up. 

I absolutely love these characters and Amy Fellner Dominy has a way of making them feel so realistic and relatable. It’s almost as if these characters, including Josie and Garrett are actually a part in my everyday life. I love the use of dual perspectives as it really helped me understand each characters motives and reactions! 

My only qualm with this book is how short it was. I could have easily have read hundreds of pages more of Mai and Anthony’s story. I would have loved to have seen more ‘worst dates’ as I’m a sucker for them! 

Overall this was such an enjoyable, light-hearted and cute romance that I recommend reading (but read Announcing Trouble first!) I cannot wait to see what Amy Fellner Dominy comes out with next!

A cute leaving high school romance between two main characters who had a fling but it really never finished. A girl thinking that he needed to live up to her parents expectations and a boy trying to finish his dad journey for him. I enjoyed the book so much that I read it in a day. Great whitty writing and characters that i thoroughly enjoyed getting to know.

It was more like How *Not* to Quit Your Crush. Mai and Anthony are two drastically different people. Mai is an extremely driven national merit scholar who is attending an Ivy League college in the Fall with a hardcore double major while Anthony is a star baseball player with average grades and no real plan after graduation besides bumming it around California. Opposites attract though and we saw some of those sparks fly in Announcing Trouble but they’ve apparently burned out, or maybe not. Before Mai leaves to California for the summer the two decide to have a fling and plan awful dates they know the other will hate to try to lose feelings for each other. Only that doesn’t happen and now things are going further than either expected, but Mai is still leaving and Anthony is still unsure of his future.

I loved Anthony and I need and Anthony. I found myself looking forward to his chapters more than Mai but that might be because I related to him better. He was handsome, charming and downright sweet. His life was turned upside down after his dad died though and suddenly he doesn’t know what he wants for his future which was understandable. I mean who had everything planned out that far ahead anyways? I mean besides Mai. 

Mai was a lot. At first I didn’t like her. She came across as judgmental and a tad snooty because she was just so dang perfect and had this perfect future planned. Then there is this not so perfect boy who she thought she knew as the slacker baseball player who had no ambition and was all wrong for her. I soon realized I actually liked Mai though and the person she was around Anthony. I saw what he saw in her and realized even she didn’t like who she was some times. It took me a bit to warm up to her but I really enjoyed how passionate she was about her future and the environment along with how willing she was to try new things. 

Anthony and Mai were so opposites and I loved these “awful” dates they planned for each other. I mean if you’re trying to lose feelings for someone I would think that would be the way to go. So many bad dates, but them together made them not bad. They we're both just open to new experiences and trying things out. I wanted all of their bad dates for myself. Just goes to show it can never be a truly horrible date if you like who you’re with.

It was also interesting to explore Mai’s relationship with her family. She’s adopted and has a ton of expectations thrust upon her. She also doesn’t want to disappoint her parents or make them wish they hadn’t adopted her; it was a lot to unpack. My only complaint for this book is that we never see how that relationship ends up, there’s no final confrontation after everything. The confrontation we get before the ending though was just wow. It made it really hate her parents and how they had treated Mai after her traumatic trail incident as a kid. I would have like another confrontation and a solid ending where we knew how everything now stood.

How To Quit Your Crush was a fast and fun light summer read and the perfect companion novel to Announcing Trouble. It was nice to see some more of Josie and how her happily ever after was going while also getting to explore her awesome best friend that we’d met during her story. If you’re looking for some summer romance this is definitely one to add to your ever growing TBR!

Before last week, I had never heard about this book, which is weird since this is the type of storyline I truly enjoyed and should have popped up in my recommendations. I finished this book in one-sitting because from the get go, the chemistry between them was so magical, unique and a joy to read.

It was refreshing to read how honest their relationship was, as both of them would speak openly how incompatible they are, and how their relationship would never last the future. As a reader, I didn’t know how the storyline would prolong, as in the first pages, they say their love is doomed but it was perfect to see what “plan” they come up with to kill the romance.

I am excited to see more reviews about this book, and talk to more people about it. Again, all I can say is the chemistry is off the charts. I truly understood the commitment that a relationship should have in order to pass the test of time.
