There are few things I adore more than true historical events being woven into the fabric of a fiction novel and this book did a great job of delivering that. I find Evie Dunmore’s writing to be approachable, even for those unfamiliar with historical romance, and I think that’s a real gift. All in all, I enjoyed this book and had such a pleasant time with it!

Didn't capture my attention and engagement. Interested in trying it again though and hopefully it will take.

This was a cute little sequel to the original Evie Dunmore novel. I also love the cover art so much!

I could not get through the first book. My apologies for requesting the second. I was not aware at the time that this was a part of a series. thank you anyways!

I was very impressed after reading Evie Dunmore's debut novel, Bringing Down the Duke, and I was excited beyond words to read the second book in the series. I loved Lucie's fierceness and drive. I was afraid Tristan would be too vain, but I have to admit I ended up loving him too! They had such amazing banter and I love how they supported each other. This book was witty and funny and sexy too, all combined in a story with deep emotions and flawed but lovable characters.

Love this book! A Rogue of One's Own was a great addition to this series. Loved the antics of Lucie and Tristan.

This did not live up to my love of Bringing down the Duke. Not surprised as these were probably my least favorite characters from the first book. Felt like they acted like children through most of the book and that all their issues would have been solved if they just actually talk it out.

I still loved the friendship between the ladies (which was a bright spot in the story) and the fight for women's rights is done well.

It took a while for me to be fully immersed in the story, but once I did I enjoyed it thoroughly! It had the perfect mix of romance, humour and intrigue to keep me interested, and I especially loved the ending. I can highly recommend this series, and I cannot wait to continue!

I absolutely loved this book! I was so engrossed by the characters right off the bat. Her writing is out of this world, if you've been in a reading slump this is a great place to start, it absolutely blew me away!

I absolutely loved the publishing/writing angle of this story and fell head over heels for this installment and will be excitedly awaiting the next one!

I loved this book, it was fantastic!

While there are some parts that can certainly be problematic, I enjoyed it immensely for what it was.

I think the romance was very well written, the story line was strong, and the feminism was on full display.

Militant suffragette and women’s rights activist Lucie Tedbury falls for childhood nemesis Tristan Ballentine after he undermines her plan to become majority stockholder in a publishing company by buying up the other 50% of shares. He offers to sell her one percent of his shares so she can be the sole owner if she agrees to spend one night in his bed.

She’s carrying baggage from her youth after being kicked out at age 17 for embarrassing her family with her support of liberal causes. His baggage is a physically abusive father and a manic-depressive mother who falls into a deep depression after his older brother and heir-apparent dies in a riding accident. His father hates him, thinking him useless, even after he wins Britain’s highest military honor, the Victoria Cross. After his brother’s death, he returns home from war only to have his father try to blackmail him into marrying and producing an heir by threatening to put his mother in an asylum.

Lucite is admirable but her passion comes off as strident and unyielding, especially towards the end of the story. He is a roguish libertine who seems not to care about anyone or anything, but whose reputation is much worse than reality, an image he perpetuates to piss off his father. Like the first book in the series, both women are incredibly stubborn and let their fear of marriage and its legal loss of freedom and independence cause them to toss cruel comments at their men. In turn, both men seem to be okay with the status quo until they fall in love and realize that their lover’s causes are vitally important.

It’s a fascinating look into the social and political history of Britain during the Victorian era of the late 19th century. Women are considered property once they’re married with no legal rights. They can’t vote or own property, and they sacrifice any wealth or property they bring to their marriages. The majority are treated poorly, facing infidelity, neglect, and, at worst, physical abuse. The vast majority of powerful members of parliament think the poor treatment of wives is restricted to the lower classes and are threatened by the suffragist push for reform because they either fear giving women power or believe that women don’t have the brainpower to make political decisions. Sadly, even Queen Victoria who had more power than anyone in thought it was dangerous for women to have autonomy and a vote...total hypocrisy.

This is an entertaining and illuminating series of historical romances. Recommend to feminist fans of the genre.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Avon through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Perfect historical romance. Full of banter and romance. I need more from this author! I highly recommend this if you love the genre.

I think this could have been great, but Lucie felt a bit one-dimensional with her suffragette work and I didn’t really get why she hated Tristan. And at 410 pages, I needed amazing.

Hands-down favorite! The pacing and romantic beats in this book are unparalleled, and after multiple rereads, I can honestly say I think this book gave us two of the most compelling characters I’ve met in a really long time. Lucie and Tristan’s chemistry was fire right from the start and I was so invested in both of their personal and romantic journeys. This series does a great job of balancing the romantic storylines and suffragist plot, mixing Lucie and the suffragists’ work and friendships in such a seamless way. As much as I love a good romantic storyline (and this one was GOOD) I’m always pulled away from the story when a character’s personal interests/journey takes a backseat to the romantic plot. A ROGUE OF ONE’S OWN does a brilliant job of addressing this with Lucie’s fears and struggles, and I think it makes her and Tristan’s relationship even stronger (and sexier) then ever. Evie Dunmore cemented herself as an auto-buy author with this book, and is making me fall in love with historical romances all over again!

Did I love this more than the first?

An entertaining page turner. I loved Lucie and Tristan's story. Evie is definitely an auto read and buy author for me now. I'm so excited for Hattie and Lucian's story in September 2021. I know it will be a fun read.

Evie Dunmore can NOT write anything except PERFECTION .
With her books , she gave a new definition to historical romance in my mind .
Honest to God, Now, I rate all the books in this genre according to her masterpieces , with every Historical romance I read , my mind directly starts comparing the characters , content , plot to her books ( which I know isn't fair for others , guilty ! ) .
( A rogue of One's own ) was interesting , addictive , charming , hot , sweet and emotional .
With each word, I got more and more attached to Lucie and Tristan , their chemistry was incredible .
I love how well Dunmore do her research before writing her books , reading all the interesting facts she adds in her stories , makes the experience of reading romance more fascinating .
I would recommend this book for everyone , not just romance lovers .
But , if you are a fan of " enemies to lovers " trope , you can't miss this one .

Author Dunmore creates chemistry between two characters with ease. The foursome of heroines she created are smart, witty and confident. Book 2 in the series was just as fun as the first. I am looking forward to the next: Hattie's story and maybe hear a bit more about where Lucie and Tristan are now.

Side note: I love the book covers!
