This is a really solid addition to the Forgotten Brotherhood series. I love when a series is a collection of independent stories set within the same world that can be read as standalones. This compliments the first book nicely and effectively adds to the previous developments.

I liked the new setting and new set of MCs. Both Alexei and Cassie are interesting characters and worth rooting for. My only slight problem would be the major case of insta-love present. I get that lust and attraction can be immediate, and that's fine, but it's a personal pet-peeve when characters are saying 'I love you' the day after meeting. It's just a bit of an eye-roll.

But this installment is well-written and entertaining and I'm excited to see what story will come next for this series!

This was my first read from the author and I enjoyed it! Though it is the second book in a series, it can be read by itself. I did not feel like I was missing any information or playing catch up.

Alexei is an assassin with the Forgotten Brotherhood who finds himself in a pickle while investigating a potential new target. Cassie is in hiding from her past when she is approached by Alexei. Alexei is rough and tough on the exterior but is a teddy bear towards Cassie. Cassie is a no-nonsense kick-ass lady. Funny and sexy times ensue.

I had the chance to read an early copy for review!

Very enjoyable read! The story was interesting and unique from others of its genre, and I was left to finish it in the wee hours of the morning for I couldn’t leave it ;)

Alexei was an adorable, sexy beast, whilst Cassie was a mature (thank God!) and very likeable heroine. Together, I thought they were a great match.

I happily devoured this book. It is very well written with lots of action and twists. I especially loved this twist on Death and reapers.
