Deadlock by Catherine Coulter is the 24th book in her FBI Thriller series. I looked forward to returning to this series, and it’s wonderful FBI heroes, Savich and Sherlock. Though this is the 24th book in the series, it does read very well as a standalone. Deadlock has two cases, with one involving a past case, but it is easy to follow without a problem.

Savich begins to receive strange violent puzzles from an unknown person, and knows that this is some sort of threat. We meet FBI agent Pippa Cinelli, who recognizes the puzzles from her old hometown, and Savich gets permission from Pippa’s boss to allow her to investigate the puzzles in her hometown to figure out who and why.

At the same time, Savich is in the right place and the right time to rescue a kidnapping attempt of Rebeka, a congressman’s wife. Savich with some help from Sherlock, will begin to investigate who is trying to hurt Rebeka. They learn that she had gone to a medium, who claimed her deceased grandfather was trying to talk to her, and the medium kept talking about stolen money hidden many years ago; Rebeka claims she knows nothing, as her grandfather’s stories were not real. But Savich knows this is the why Rebeka’s life was in danger, and assigns Agent Griffin Hammersmith (whom we have met in previous books) to protect Rebeka. The investigation begins with many surprising twists, with Savich being pulled between two intense cases.
Pippa begins to work with Police Chief Wilde to investigate the puzzles, and finds herself under attack by someone who is trying to stop her from going further. Sherlock and their son are rescued from a fire in their house, which was also a threat. We the reader, know from the start about the past case, where psychopath Marsia Gay, whom Savich sent to prison, is hell bent to enact her revenge against Savich by hurting those close to him before she has him killed. This is a vicious and complex web going back years, and Savich, Pippa, Police Chief Wilde need to tie the missing pieces to prove Marsia is behind the threats.

What follows is a non-stop exciting and intense adventure with two different cases. Both cases intensified, with wild endings that was so very well done. This review is difficult to write, as there are so many surprises, twists, game changers, and to tell too much more would be spoilers. I love Savich and Sherlock together, as they are a great team. The addition of Pippa, Wilde, Griffin was also very good. Coulter not only gives us wonderful characters we care about, but she also creates evil villains.

Deadlock was a thriller from start to finish, and even if intense at times, it was an enjoyable ride, especially with terrific our marvelous heroes. Catherine Coulter once again gives us a fabulous story, with so many different surprises and excitement all the way to the climax. Deadlock was a fast-paced, exciting, intriguing, suspenseful mystery. If you like suspense, mysteries, espionage, especially in the world of CIA/FBI, I wholly suggest you read Deadlock.

This book was so good that I had to read it twice! I truly love this FBI series by Catherine Coulter and had been eagerly awaiting the 24th title as this is one of my favorite series. This thrilling book is one that seamlessly weaves together two storylines. I honestly don't know which one was more intriguing to me, and like I said, this book already got a reread from me.

The story begins with Rebekah Manvers finding herself in front of a medium called Zoltan. Rebekah was especially close to her grandfather, so when she is contacted and told that he is calling for her, Rebekah just has to see what she might learn. Of course, she was skeptical, but her curiosity won out. Then there is Marsia Gay. Currently awaiting trial and more angry with FBI agent Dillon Savich than she can bear. Savich is responsible for her incarceration and as far as Marsia is concerned, he is a dead man walking - even if it means his family gets caught in whatever crossfire Marsia lays out.

Savich is torn. Of course his most important objective is to keep his wife, fellow FBI agent Lacey Sherlock, and their son Sean safe. Not only must Savich dig deeper where it concerns Marsia, there is something going on with Rebekah, especially after she almost loses her life. So Savich must turn over every stone, especially considering the medium is someone new in Rebekah's life.

As always, Savich's intuition is right on target when he suspects the medium that contacted Rebekah is not all she is cracked up to be. Sherlock and another FBI agent Pippa Cinella become a part of the investigation, revealing rather confusing connections that no doubt will eventually tie together.

As a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast, I was drawn to the cover, as well as how puzzles were part of one of the cases Savich was working on. Having read all the previous books in this series, as well as Coulter's Brit in the FBI series, I love how she brought in the aspect of puzzles when it came to getting to the bottom of what was going on.

As always Savich and Sherlock are as tight as can be, although the romantic in me wouldn't have minded a few more scenes with just the two of them. However, missing that part certainly did not take away my enjoyment of this book. The first time I read the book it was in one sitting and the second time I downloaded the audiobook, and also listened to it in one sitting. The crafty talent of Coulter shone through from the very start to the arresting conclusion. Now, to wait another year for the 25th book in the series.
Many thanks to Gallery Books and NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

Catherine Coulter's Sherlock and Savich series remain one of my favorites. The married FBI pair have taken me into some of the most unusual places I could have imagined while always managing to twist out of the traps set for them and save the day...with many, many bumps, bruises and a few bullet holes along the way.

DEADLOCK has several story threads running at once. This is typical of Coulter's books and keeps the action tense and moving. There are no boring chapters in this book. You'll meet some familiar faces along the way and enjoy the rapport built in the previous books. Yes, you can read DEADLOCK as a stand alone but treat yourself and read Coulter's back library too.

Woo-Hoo!! Summertime and a new FBI thriller. Beach chair, here I come! I've had a great time lazing on the beach and enjoying this book in between chasing grandkids. I have to say that the plot was a tad complicated to have so many interruptions and I found myself backtracking a bit. But, I had a wonderful time with Savich, Sherlock, Sean and the other characters. I'm not going to detail the plot much, there was a lot going on. I'm going to let you discover it all on your own.

Marcia Gay is a psychopath that Savach was instrumental is nailing. She is a vengeful b**** who is out to get both Savich, his family and the lover who turned on her. Her vengeance against Savich starts with a series of red gift boxed with macabre puzzle pieces. The puzzle depects the hometown of Agent Pippa Cinelli and she volunteers to go undercover and find the connection with Savich and Gay.

Meanwhile, Savach saves a young woman, Rebekah Manvers, from a kidnapping that has to be connected to her visit with a medium who has spoken for her grandfather and a secret, the Big Take, he wants her to uncover. Digging into this is not what Rebekah wants to do, but to uncover who is behind her attempted kidnapping, she has to.

This is the twenty-fourth book in the FBI Thriller series by Catherine Coulter.

Originally, I thought this was more of a Sherlock series. But as I have read more and more books in this series, I realize it is really focused more on Savich. And I really like that idea.

Coulter’s stories always seem to focus in first on the characters that come in for this specific plot and whodunit. That seems to throw me a bit but I am getting used to it. A young wife whose grandfather was a politician and who is married to a politician is lured to a medium who tries to extract information from her. When she doesn’t fall for the ploy, they try to deal with her in a different way. This is where Savich steps in and saves the day when she is about to be kidnapped from her home.

I thought this plot was great and I was really invested in knowing what was going on. Loved the addition of Pippa. She really kept the plot moving. This story really used the FBI guys and we got to see a lot more of what they were all about. So happy to see that aspect.

Just a great all around awesome piecer of detective fiction. I totally recommend this.

If you want to read a good mystery, police procedural, or detective fiction, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Savich and Sherlock are back and once again their lives are disrupted by events from the past. Savich was in the right place at the right time to stop a kidnapping in broad daylight. He and Sherlock are working to find out who is after the granddaughter of a very wealthy former Congressman who has just passed away.

A woman in jail, put there by Savich, is awaiting trial and plotting revenge on Savich and his family plus how to dispose of the girl who plans to turn on her and testify against her. Testimony that would seal her fate of a life in prison. She has no intention of spending one single extra day in jail.

Savich receives a mystery package in the mail it seems to be only part of a puzzle. He tries to find out who sent it and why. If it's just some crazy person or is it evil come to his door with serious possibilities. Knowing he will be waiting for the rest of the riddle to be revealed..

I enjoyed this book a lot! Savich and Sherlock are two of my favorite characters. Happily married agents with equal ability working together to solve crimes. This time the crimes are close way to close. It is well written and you don't ever get bored and you won't guess who did what and why.

The story has multiple narrators and is easy to follow. The new characters in the book Agent Pippa Cinelli and Chief Wilde are so likable! I am glad it looks like they will be in the future Savich and Sherlock books. I definitely think you will enjoy this book. It's better than the ones where they have almost supernatural enemies. The plots are easily possible.

Thank you Catherine Coulter, NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for allowing me to read this ARC. This is my opinion it well worth your time to read and keeps you guessing!

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest, voluntary review. I have read every book Catherine Coulter has written except for A Brit in the FBI books. Her books are fascinating and superbly written. The characters feel like family after all these books. I love how the books could very well represent actual FBI cases; language, descriptions, verbiage, characterization are all on point like a real FBI case. Savich and Sherlock are my favorites but some of the guys can take your breath away. Enjoy! 📚

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review. The opinions are entirely my own, and any quotes are taken from the ARC and may be different in the final published copy.

Fans of Deadlock Catherine Coulter's FBI Thriller series will recognize Savich, Sherlock, and the rest of the recurring characters in the 24th book of the series, Deadlock. Joining them is a familiar foe from the 20th book of the series, Insidious. I am late to the game and started reading the series with book #23, Labyrinth. This book works as a stand-alone novel, but reading Insidious would help you understand the backstory more.

Husband and wife team, Savich and Sherlock, are used to their hectic schedules working as FBI agents. However, they are the focus of a cunning psychopath who is bent on revenge. While trying to find out who is responsible for who attacked them, Savich needs to work on a case in which he was in the right place at the right time, preventing a Congressman's wife, Rebecca, from being kidnapped. He is torn between keeping his family safe and keeping Rebecca safe.

Coulter presents a suspenseful thriller that keeps you guessing until the end. Much of what occurs is unsurprising, but it is those little nuggets of suspense that leaves you wanting more.

I am glad I found Savich and Sherlock and welcome them as old friends.

I had not read Catherine Coulter in years, and this book helped remind me why she is such a successful mystery writer. This book is the 24th (!!) in a series I had not read in quite some time, but it functions very well as a stand-alone, even though it includes a subplot set in motion by previous books.

I really enjoyed the initial setup and mystery of the book, in which a psychic medium seeks out Rebekah to tell her she has a message from her recently deceased grandfather about a hidden fortune. The question becomes: is the medium psychic, or is she working with someone else who wants to find the treasure for themselves? The FBI gets involved — on the FBI end of the story there are quite a lot of characters, no doubt featured in other books and a little hard to keep straight for a newbie, but all interesting and compelling. I wasn’t as interested in the subplot about the psychopath from previous books but I was able to follow it just fine. My favorite part of the book was the main plot with Rebekah, the medium and the treasure.

Rebekah was my favorite character - I also loved her grandfather and Agent Savitch. The mystery unfolds very well with a great twist. The plot fits together as perfectly at the end as the puzzle pieces featured in the story. This is a very good law enforcement procedural with a fun and interesting mystical twist, and the treasure hunt is a pretty cool centerpiece for the mystery. This is a great book for fans of traditional whodunnits and FBI procedurals.

Thanks to Catherine Coulter, NetGalley and Gallery books for the ARC of this twisty mystery.

An old foe rises from the shadows when Marsia Gay decides that she wants revenge on Savich for putting her in jail. She has an intricate plan that includes sending puzzle pieces to him at the FBI. One of the agents in another unit recognizes the puzzle pieces as a small town she used to live in and is immediately borrowed and sent to the town.
Also happening in this book, Rebekah Manvers, wife of a Congressman, is invited to a seance. There, the mystical Zoltan tries to convince her that her grandfather wants her to remember an old poem and dig up a treasure that Rebekah never believed was real.
The book was incredibly twisty and turny with plot points that are just nuts. However, if you've read other books in the FBI series, you know what to expect. You can possibly even predict a large portion of the ending just based on the way characters are described. But that doesn't mean that the book is any less fun.

Special Agent Dillon Savich saves a young woman from being kidnapped. Savich will become involved in a case that is decades old that will reveal some deadly secrets from this young woman's past with ties that lead to her dead grandfather.

A vicious psychopath is aiming for revenge against Savich by going after his family -- bad mistake.

Mystery surrounds a series of three red boxes that are delivered personally to Savich at the Hoover Building, each one containing puzzle pieces of a town only FBI agent Pippa Cinelli recognizes. Savich sends in Cinelli to investigate undercover but someone knows who she is and attacks her.

Savich and Sherlock and the gang will work around the clock to solve these two mysteries.

Catherine Coulter is one of my favorite authors and boy does she deliver with this novel. The latest addition to her FBI series is incredibly engrossing and such a good read. The book’s two plots are well thought out and intriguing. You definitely feel invested in the main characters and the supporting cast adds great flavor to both of the plots. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who loves a good, no make that a great intriguing novel.

Deadlock (FBI Thriller #24) by Catherine Coulter. #NetGalley [NetGalley URL] is totally captivating. Savich and Sherlock must solve two cases with the help of two fascinating agents. Their lives and son Sean's are threatened by someone from their past. What's going on is quite a puzzle! There are at least three story lines which twist and turn and are absolutely fascinating. Don't miss this thrilling book!

Deadlock by Catherine Coulter (FBI Series #24) 5 stars

This long running series has been a favorite since its first book "The Cove" and this latest entry is a roller coaster of a ride. This a a thriller with more than one story line to explore.

A wife of a politician is almost kidnapped after seeing a medium who said her dead grandfather wants to talk with her. Does the wife have the clues to a decades old secret in her head? How this unravels lead to secrets and betrayal.

Savich is sent three red boxes containing puzzle pieces. The boxes are seen as a taunt and threat so he sends FBI Agent Pippa Cinelli to investigate the origin of the puzzle. The action is non stop and when an attempt is made on his family, Savich manages to ties the boxes and threats to an old enemy. The ending was satisfying and I can't wait for the next FBI series.

Such a fun series and this book added to the team dynamic! I love all the books, but the ones that feature Sherlock, Savich and Sean are my favorite. I mean Sean and Marty are adorable.

There are many moving pieces in this book and the way the story juggles the seemingly different cases, towns and characters is quite creative. A new permanent character is introduced and a few favorites are mentioned. The use of blackmail, running cons, revenge and adultery painted quite the detailed backstory.

The end villains are somewhat predictable, but the route to prove their complicity was entertaining and intricate. Overall this is a great book and a great way to spend time with one of my favorite literary crime fighting couples and family!

Thanks for the chance to read this book and share my opinions.

Deadlock by Catherine Coulter

Do you believe in speaking to the dead? If you will remember from previous books, Catherine Coulter has touched on the special abilities that Agent Savich’s team seems to have including himself. However, talking to the dead seems to go beyond the plausible? Maybe? Read this fantastic book to find out because there is a Medium Zoltan that claims to have these very skills and even calls up a Politicans wife who just lost her Grandfather who was a previous Senator that she was contacted by him trying to reach out to his granddaughter. You will never believe how Agent Savich and his team get roped into helping solve this case!!
But there is another case within the book going on as well. A former adversary, Marsia Gay starts to taunt Agent Savich with Red Puzzle Boxes from a town that he has never been to nor has he ever had a case attached to. However, it seems that a agent on loan Piper is from that area and he sends Piper to reconnaissance the situation before he actually goes. This backfires on what Marsia has planned and she is not happy at all. The adventures and the planning take on a new turn for Savich and his family and the team.
Reading the book is well worth your time as Coulter does not disappoint. I have not had a bad book yet where Catherine Coulter has written about the Dillon Savich team. She has always kept the Savich character fresh and the adventures topnotch and not flat.
I recommend this book to anyone that is a Coulter fan.
I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and willingly give my thoughts and opinions!

Spoilers -

I felt the story was pretty predictable.. Not a bad story, however I feel that the author has way too many things going on and doesn't give each part of the story the time it deserves.

For someone so smart, Marsia didn't pick her "tools" very well and that led to her plans for Savich not working out too well. She can blackmail her victims into helping her but she misjudged their willingness to keep their secrets. Her revenge plan was over reaching.

Cinelli going to St. Lumis in place of Savage just added two new characters to the unit. Obviously Cinelli and Wilde find Marcia's accomplices, so they weren't just throw away characters.

I really felt that Rebekah's part of the story wasn't resolved satisfactorily. Not a surprised that her grandfather was her father or that her grandmother and husband were involved in what was happening to her. The final confrontation with her husband was lackluster.

Again, not a bad story just suck me in.

I said it the last time I finished a Savich and Sherlock novel, and I'll say it again. I never realize how much I've missed them, until I read about them again! I love their chemistry, I can easily picture them in real life.

I don't know that I particularly loved the storyline, it didn't feel believable, but I love Catherine Coulter's writing style and I loved visiting with these characters again. Worth picking up!
