Wow. Yet another amazing book from Shari Low. I loved a day in winter and so a day in summer works ina similar way that it is all based on events that happen on one day, yet with the past woven around it. Absolutely brilliant and I was teetering on the edge of my seat by the end. Brilliant book

Shari low wrote the perfect beach read, light, easy to read, cute book, a perfect break from all the thrillers I've been reading. Told from multiple points of view in both past and present. It was really interesting to see how each of the peoplle were connected and how big of impacts some had on eachothers lives. Friendship, love, heartbreak, lies, betrayal, affairs and a lifetime of backstabbing.

Aggs is a divorced mother of twins. She's turning 45 and has something she needs to tell her daughters. You follow her as she reflects and longs for her past relationships and how she misses her parents as she runs the cafe that was once theirs.

Mitchell Aggs ex husband and Celestes new husband is convinced Celeste is having an affair. He rekindles a new friendship with Aggs as he realizes how much his actions must of hurt her.

Celeste that character you love to hate. A rather selfish character who was once Aggs best friend, but she had an affair with Mitchell and severed that friendship. That's not the only time she wronged Aggs though.

Hope recently took a DNA test to see if she had any connections because she was adopted and hoping to find some biological ties. She may be in for more than she bargained for. Thats ok because maybe she's looking for a little more than just a dna connection.

How are they all connected and what lies and syrprises are unearthed on Aggs birthday?

If you find the blurb to One Day in Summer enticing, I can assure you, the novel is even more intriguing as life-changing revelations are exposed to three people on 30th May 2020!

It's Agnetha "Aggs" McMaster's birthday. For the owner of The Ginger Sponge, It's a day for new beginnings; a time to start thinking of her own well-being and happiness after spending twenty years as a mother, carer, and a business owner. She's the one-time girl who had a zest for life but lost her sparkle a long time ago, but now, on her forty-fifth birthday, she has an important announcement to make. Only, fate steps in and over the course of the day, shocking facts are revealed, not only to her but her ex-husband and Hope McTeer. By midnight, their outlooks on life offer a very contrasting landscape to the one they woke up to.

I had the luxury of having the time to read this book in one sitting. It's one of those novels which instantly hooks you in and can't let go of. The timeline is short and told from differing points of view, as we follow the lives of the protagonists as their day progresses. Additionally, many secondary characters are introduced, who all play important roles in the lives of Aggs, Mitchell and Hope. It sounds confusing, but actually, Ms Low presents a well-written format, so even a reader like myself can keep fully abreast of who's who. Fascinating details are packed into the narrative as each hour of the day passes as new insights are revealed. The outcome wasn't a surprise to me, however, the author has planted red herrings, making me pause for thought; second-guessing my gut instinct.

The story covers a spectrum of emotions from deceit and regret to love and hope. A the end of the day, three people finally have the answers to questions they've been waiting for and ultimately creates a more than satisfying conclusion.

Overall, One Day In Summer is a fabulous page-turner, with a place on my personal top-ten favourites for 2020! and lastly, an introduction to a new "must-read" author for me.

When you first meet the free spirited red head known as Aggs you wonder what adventures you are going to go on throughout this story. She is the quieter of the friends who has fallen in love whilst visiting sunny LA on her latest trip with Celeste.

The story then fast forward a couple of decades and you meet Aggs and her twin daughter's and get to know her current story.

Set over a dual time line two decades apart the events of the trip to LA unfold whilst you meet the people who totally unravelled her life and the devastating losses she has suffered over the years inbetween.

A wonderful story that tugs your heart strings throughout as you wonder how Aggs can be so nice despite the events that have unfolded. This story unpicks the events and provides a real sense of how deep her friendship with Celeste ran before the devastating betrayal.

I loved this book, it took me on an adventure as Aggs looks for the person she once was as she nears her 45th birthday. A story overflowing with wonderful characters and secrets that are finding their way to the surface. A superb story that will make you want to laugh and cry and you delve deeper into the book.

Such an enjoyable and uplifting read! One Day in Summer is my first book written by Shari Low, but definitely won't be the last. I loved the concept of following the main characters of Agnetha, Mitchell, Hope and Aaron for one day and seeing how much can change within this short period of time.
Agnetha is such a wonderful protagonist. we meet her on her 45th birthday when she is trying to reevaluate her life. For many years she dedicated herself to her children and taking care of her elderly parents. Now that her twin girls Isla and Skye have grown up, her parents sadly passed away . Agnetha is free to live her life she's been putting on hold for such long time. Mitchell, Agnetha's ex-husband may be a great father to Isla and Skye, but what about his second marriage, is it still going strong? Hope has great adoptive parents and a fantastic sister, but recently she got her DNA results and found an incredible match. Now she is about to meet her father for the first time.
Shari Low created a great cast of superb characters, both main and secondary and you will experience a whole rollercoaster of emotions following their stories: love, grief, hurt after betrayal, hope and joy. You will understand the reasons for their behaviour and see how they have changed over life and what they learnt from their mistakes.

The perfect summer read!.
The characters were brought to life through the amazing writing style this book carries and made you feel for the difficulties each individual character had to face throughout. The story line was perfectly written, full to the brim of heartwarming, laugh out loud moments quickly followed by sorrow and regret.
I loved this book so much and truly struggled to put it down at the best of times... its definitely a must read!.

An enjoyable, light easy read , great for the summer and a couple of hours in the garden. It was a cute story, a bit predictable and the end seemed rushed, but a nice read.

3.5-4 stars

For a story that takes place over 24 hours (but also delve into the past), this was surprisingly well paced.

I enjoyed seeing how all of the different characters became intertwined throughout their lives and what led some of their relationships to be torn apart. It did, however, take me a little while to get into the story, but once Hope entered the picture, I had to stick with it. This book had a great twist that I thought I had figured out, but luckily I was caught by surprise.

I would have given this book a higher rating if the beginning of the story had drawn me in more, but overall it had an interesting plot and I enjoyed it by the end.

I was very excited to see that Shari Low had a new book coming out and especially that the title was One Day in Summer. What is special about that title I hear you ask? Well, she has previously written a trilogy which I loved with titles which are all variations on 'One Day in Winter'', so I knew I was likely to enjoy this and I certainly did!

As with the Day in Winter books, the narrative unfolds over the course of a day which makes the story bounce along and it is told in alternating chapters from the points of view of several of the characters. We have Agnetha, known as Aggs, a cafe owner who is celebrating her 45th birthday. Then there's Mitchell, her ex-husband and father of her twins who just happens to be married to her ex-best friend Celeste. We have the aptly named Hope who has a connection to one of the other characters which of course I'm not going to reveal. And there are also chapters set in 1997 when Agnetha and Celeste are having the time of their lives on holiday in LA and Vegas.

Well, Shari Low has done it again with a absorbing book I found hard to put down. This is strong storytelling with engaging characters who you will feel very involved with. There are plenty of secrets unveiled and both surprises and shocks for many of the characters throughout the course of the day which kept me glued to my Kindle. This is an emotionally engaging read, something I have found with all the Shari Low books I have read before. The events will make you laugh and cry in equal measure. And it's a love story which is not at all predictable. I am really hoping that this will be the start of another trilogy as I do so enjoy Shari Low's writing.

I need to give you a word of caution first, when you pick up this book to read it make sure you have tissues nearby, not necessarily next to you but somewhere accessible, because believe me you’ll need them. I absolutely adored this book, and that’s not something I’ve said for a while. It’s like the One Day in Winter story, in which everything takes place over the course of 24 hours. The only exception are flashbacks to 1977 to help give understanding to Agnetha and Celeste’s past.

We meet Agnetha trying to begin a life for herself on her birthday, Mitchell trying to work out if his marriage is over and Hope trying to find her birth parents. All three people are connected in a way which isn’t as obvious as you might think. The flashbacks help explain a few things along the way and we get to see how the decisions of the past impact the present.

The characters are brilliant, their personalities shine through and that applies to the characters I’ve mentioned and the other, supporting ones. It’s fast paced, partly because of the timescale but also there’s a sense of urgency in the story as well. A lot happens in a short period of time and the ending fits perfectly with the rest of the book and the characters themselves. But, what really makes the story is how everything happens, how it’s set out and the emotional rollercoaster that the characters go on, for a variety of reasons.

This story shows that life can change in a short period of time. What you thought you knew isn’t always correct, and that things can be overcome with the right support, and sometimes time, to help the process.

It’s a brilliant story, that shows that life is not static but is a series of twists, turns and unexpected detours that we have to learn to go with and work out as it goes along, and I loved it.

Thanks to NetGalley, I was provided an advanced reader copy of Shari Low's new book,"One Day In Summer." I had never read anything by Shari Low before, but the description was intriguing, so I requested it and was happy to be approved.

Wow! Where have Shari Low books been all my life? I began this book on Wednesday evening. I forced myself to put it down to go to bed. I read it in the nooks and crannies of my day on Thursday, but then stayed up late to finish it before bed. I love my sleep, but this book was THAT GOOD.

The novel spans the course of 24 hours, both in present day and flashbacks to 1997 (my inner teenager loved the references to '90s pop culture). The viewpoint is shared between three main characters: Agnetha, Mitchell, and Hope. Like many of my favorite movies (hello, Love Actually), the characters have standalone stories that are also intertwined.

Shari Low does an exceptional job of developing her characters and painting a picture of who they are, both in this brief moment of time and past experiences that shaped them. Having lost my mom to a cruel disease far too young, I can especially relate to Agnetha's grief following her mom's death. The dialogue was witty, and I enjoyed the conversations between the characters.

"One Day In Summer" is a story of family, friendship, lost love, betrayals, and hope that will keep you guessing until the very end. It will be released on June 11, 2020 by Boldwood Books.

Well, this is the first time in ages I’ve stayed up until 2 am reading a book! I just couldn’t stop reading until I’d finished it. Even though I’d guessed the big outcome at the end, it didn’t stop me wanting to read along and experience it with the characters.
I do love this series of books from Shari Low, you get new characters each time, but it is set in the same world as many others that Shari Low has written, and a few recurring characters pop up in each of them making you feel like you are visiting family! You also have the same formula whereby there are four chapters per two-hour time slot set over a day.
The characters in this book were as a whole likeable. We are following Agnetha (how on earth do you pronounce this, I was stumbling over the name every time I read it!) a divorcee with an exciting past. She is trying to recapture the carefree attitude she had when she was younger.
We also have Mitchell, Agnetha’s ex-husband. He has made some questionable decisions in the past, and now they are coming back to bite him, and he is realising the great life he has built isn’t all that brilliant after all.
Finally, we have Hope, a young student seeking the truth about her past.
The three characters stories are set over two hour time spans and are interspersed with a chapter from the past. The past chapter is the most intriguing as this is building up to something and at the same time tying in with what was unfolding in the present. It was the past chapters that I was rushing through the book to read to see what would happen.
This was a great addition to the series, be prepared for the emotions to run high. You will laugh and cry along with the characters. Shari Low really does know how to write an emotional book that evokes all the feels!
She advises at the beginning of the book that it is set in May 2020 but was written before any of the lockdown nightmare happened. I’m glad it was written before this as it was the perfect escape to normal life. I wouldn’t have liked it to incorporate the suffocation that we are all experiencing; a departure from reality is always welcomed, especially at the moment!

Today is the 45th birthday of Agnetha, who has spent the last twenty years taking care of her old parents, and whose ex-husband left her for her best friend ten years ago. This is the story of Agnetha, who is resolved to start a new life today. But this is also the story of Aaron, who had a summer romance with Agnetha many years ago, of Mitchell, Anetha's ex-husband, who left Agnetha for Celeste, Agnetha's best friend, and now suspects she is having an affair, and finally, this is the story of Hope, given to adoption 23 years ago and now looking for her biological parents.

This was an emotional roaller-coaster of a book, which keeps you guessing until the end. I've devoured this book in just two days. Almost all of the the main characters and the secondary ones were delighful, I've fallen in love with Isla, Skye and Maisie (except for Celeste, which I completely loathe!)

Thrilled to share my review for One Day in Summer - a book I devoured in a day sat in our sunny garden, social distancing from the rest of the world. Thank you to Boldwood Books for a digital advanced review copy - my thoughts are my own and not influenced by the gift.

This is the second book I've read by Shari Low. I enjoyed My One Month Marriage earlier this year - my review can be found at http://mentoringmumof2bookreviews.hom... I'm pleased to say that I enjoyed One Day in Summer even more.

The summer day in question, in a non Covid 19 Glasgow, is the birthday of Aggs (Agnetha) who is celebrating her 45th birthday with her twin daughters, who have a few surprises planned for their mum. However there are many unplanned surprises during the day, as the story evolves and I loved the twists in the story.

The other main characters, include the ex husband of Agnetha, Mitchell who is now married to her former best friend, Celeste, plus a young woman, Hope, looking to find her birth parents and Aaron, who has travelled from the United States to meet her.

One Day in Summer looks at lost love, betrayal, friendships, grief, siblings, adoption, and finding love. This was a great read, so many events happening simultaneously, a book I didn't want to put down. I recommend this for an uplifting read.

One Day in Summer is published in June 2020.

Demolished this in less than 24 hours. Coincidentally, I also started reading this on the 30th of May 2020 - the exact day that it is set! This is typical Shari Low - heartwarming, romantic, and full of loveable characters that could step out of the page. I passed my kindle to my mum to read it too before I did and she has raved about it ever since. The epitome of a perfect summer read.

I have loved this book, it's a great format, easy to read and summery read.
I have adored the characters in this book, they are the characters that are so easy to fall in love with. The author has given them great personalities and they have made this book so enjoyable. The main character in this book is completely fantastic, even though she has a rather rubbish best friend.
The book is stunning, the author has a great writing style which really allows the plot flow beautifully. I haven't wanted to put this book down, it's uplifting and happy and definitely been needed as a lockdown read.

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and I absolutely loved it. The story is set on one day though that particular day has several threads that are wonderfully woven to create such a compelling story.

The synopsis gives a very good idea of the basic storyline to this book, and within a few paragraphs, I was already hooked and curious. The story flits between characters and also time and this gradually gives a fuller picture. There is a lot more to the story than meets the eye and the author has allowed the story to flow and felt like effortless reading.

Understanding events of the past helps to realise how things stand in the present, but even when you think you know everything do you? A betrayal, a twisted version of events, things coming full circle and having the support of family and loyal friends will help.

I found this was such a well-paced story that kept my attention from start to finish. It has warmth, hope, dreams and definitely a few surprises. The author was crafty in the way she laid things out and it kept me on my toes and this again is another way of keeping my attention.

Once I began to see the threads being pulled together I could start to make connections, I started to understand the why’s of tensions and how the fear of missing out and wanting more can be twisted.

There are several characters I loved and I could definitively see myself getting on with if they were real, they added a dynamic and mixed set of traits and personalities. Though not everyone was likeable!

This is a fabulous story that I had a couple of teary-eyed moments with, it was wonderful to sit and read this book literally in the course of One day and in the sunshine it definitely felt like summer. A fabulous read and one I would definitely recommend.

There is a lot to love about this book, making it a perfect summer read. It could be very awkward when your husband leaves you for your best friend. But it's years later and Agnetha figures it is time to reclaim her life....the girls are adults, the cafe is doing well, and she is coming to terms with the death of her mother. Until the past pays a visit and her life is turned upside down.

This is quite a charming novel with interesting likeable characters. The dynamic between Agnetha, the main character and her daughters is pleasing and the the plot has some interesting twists. The novel moves seamlessly between the past and the present and keeps the reader involved with the story. A light pleasant read. Thanks to Boldwood books and Netgalley for an arc of this novel.
