Have you ever put a book down once, and then regretted not reading it sooner? I did. With this book. I had issues with Netgalley a while back, and I couldn't download this book within time. I was bummed. But fortunately, it popped up on @storytel.in and I had to pick it up. And, OMG THIS BOOK WAS REALLY GOOD AND SURPRISED ME !!

Moonblood follows our main characters: Blaire and Ari where they try to understand worlds so different from what they know. Its a story about accepting changes, finding new things to love and fighting for what you want and what is worth. It has unique world building with the concept of immortality, Adam and Eve and then their offsprings being Kanes who are humans. I was really intruigued by the classification and loved exploring more about the world.
Our main characters grew so much over the storyline and it was such a good character arc as well. I really liked tbe writing style and it made the characters and the storyline pop out a bit more. The story had a really good found family trope among the side characters and I really liked that. Even though there were elements that made me wary, it wasn't done in a bad way. I could understand that it was a part of the world building. Coming to Character arc, I think I loved both Ari and Blaire's development. Although I might be partial towards Blaire because I could relate to her more! The only thing I wasn't fond of was that ending. It was a good one, but also an easy ending. I would have loved more repurcussions and some conflicts. With the amount of pain the different people had to go through with the system, it would have made more sense. But it was still a good ending with some closure for everybody. Overall, really enjoyed my time reading this book and I definitely recommend if you are looking for some different Dystopian influenced fantasy with some really good characters!

Moonblood was an excellent start to a story. The supernatural creatures in this world are a very fresh take on what I have come to know and love about this genre as a whole. The writing was also very excellent, and the author was able to weave together two storylines that kept me captivated the entire time. However, while the story was very entertaining it went downhill from the middle onwards for me. The ending was not satisfactory for my liking, but those who read this genre more often than I would probably appreciate the leaps that the author makes.

This was a pretty good book. But it left you wondering, what did I just read. There was so much that happened, crammed into one book.

To begin with I received a fee copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a pretty good book. But it left you wondering, what did I just read. There was so much that happened, crammed into one book.

There was two main characters. Blair and Ari. Blair and Ari both find the world they live to be something they didn’t really understand they way they thought they did. Blair is human. Ari is something else, an immortal woman with little understanding of the outside world. Then there are the adams, and the cains.

This world the author builds isn’t completely unlike our own. There is mystery, suspense, and a whole underlying plot to change the way their entire world works, and they have to discover it, and who is involved.

This is really a book about women, and how powerful they can be. A book about women journeying to find out more about themselves. A book about women changing the status quo. It sends an excellent message, about how you can change your circumstances if you try hard enough.

I, again, feel like alot happened in this book. There was alot of room to expand it. It would have made an excellent book, but instead felt a bit cramped, and like there was so much more to the story. That’s why I gave it three stars. There was so much more room to explore this world this author had created, it would have made an excellent series.

Also posted in amazon, and goodreads.

Wow! This book takes place in a futuristic world divided by Eves, Adams and Cains. Eve’s are women who majority live outside of society in complexes together. They feed off the moon and reproduce asexually, usually they give birth to more eves. However, eventually every eve will give birth to an Adam which is, unfortunately a death sentence for the eve that chooses to give birth to him. Adams are a society of men that feed off the sun. They also mostly live together outside of society in complexes together but separate from the Eves. Adams are actually a he ones who build the complexes for the Eves but they never know the location because their memories are wiped. Cains are regular people like us who need food to survive and reproduce the old fashioned way. Cains view these sun and moon eaters as a threat partly because they are immortal.

This book follows Ariadne (and some of her friends), an eve who longs for freedom from the complex. She gets to experience it but not in the way she expected. Forced to live in disguise as an Adam until she is able to hopefully return to her complex, she starts to find out about the nefarious plans that the elders of the Adams have for the Eves.

This story also follows Blair who is a Cain. Her and her mother get accused of being mutants when we first meet her which starts her on a journey where she has to try and stop the plans the Adams have while also running for her own life.

I really enjoyed this book a lot! It was very hard for me to put down. I definitely have not read any other book like this one and I’m impressed! Like most stories told from different perspectives, it was a bit hard to get used to at first, But a few chapters in, I started to wonder when/if our two main characters would meet. In the end, I was not disappointed and I don’t think you will be either! I think this would have made an amazing new series but it seems to be a standalone novel which to me is the only downside.

I was sent this eARC by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

Trigger warnings for attempted rape and slavery (for want of a better word)

Ari wanted freedom but a Mooneater her age was not allowed that freedom as it was not safe from the Cains and the Adams.
Mooneaters were the Eve's, females who found their nourishment from the moon and had virgin births. Adam's were male and found there nourishment from the sun. The Eve's also gave birth to baby Adam's however this also meant that they would die after she had a baby. Both Adam's and Eve's were immortal
Cain's were the in betweens and say both the Adam's and Eve's as mutants and attempted to capture them any way they could.
The Adam's wanted the Eve's as breeders and the Cain's wanted them for experiments to find out the "Fountain of Youth".
Confused yet? Yeah me too it took me a while to get into this book and understand what was happening. The book started off with an attempted rape and the storyline exploded from their with multiple characters thrown into the story that although all came together in the end was very confusing.
I don't really know what to say about this book other than there was a lot to take in. I didn't not like this story but I did not feel connected to the characters because I found there were too many of them to focus on.

First and foremost thank you to Net Galley for an exquisite sneak peak into this amazing story. While this story was riveting from page one, I reserve five star reviews for books that disrupt my life. Books that cannot be put down until I am finished reading. This story started off with Blair, an innocent bystander in a society filled with fear of mutants. We are immediately introduced to Ari, who is in fact a mutant. A Mooneater. An immortal being who feeds off moonlight. The author did a spectacular job telling two stories at once and intertwined the parallels of their journey. I don't want to give any spoilers but this book will keep you interested start to finish. A few aspects were left unsatisfied for my liking. I would have enjoyed to see more of a mutant crossed storyline with Blair. I was hoping instead of her innocence that she too was tied to mutants. Ari got the freedom she always wanted away from her compound plus more. The novel could have made a wonderful book series but instead it came to a rushed ending that skipped over what could have been a lot of really cool details. I'm left longing for more stories and resolutions to what could have been "new life" after peace was made. I would highly recommend this book for a fun weekend/holiday read. I wish I new more about the mooneaters!!
