I loved this devotional book on prayer. Every devotion touched my heart and helped me realize my need to pray. It’s not another “how to” book on prayer, but a series of compelling daily reminders that I am in relationship with a God who loves me and desires to hear from me.

Even though these devotions are not lengthy, they are very well-written. I found myself thinking through what I’d just read, instead of reading it and forgetting it several minutes later. I’ve read an ebook for this review, but I am going to purchase a print copy of the book to use during my devotional time in the mornings. This book would make a wonderful gift for others, too, as well as for your own personal use.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this devotional prayer book. It gives some good examples of prayer, and relates it to scriptures and real life. I plan on using this next year one day at a time to help develop a more prayerful life.

HOW GOD GROWS A WOMAN OF PRAYER was sent to me by Net Galley, free of charge, in exchange for my honest review.

This devotion book was written by Anita Higman and Marian Leslie, published by Barbour Books. Barbour Books is an imprint of Barbour Publishing.

HOW GOD GROWS A WOMAN OF PRAYER is a Christian devotional written to show us everyday that God wants to be our friend – not just our ATM machine (my words). He wants us to love Him and spend time with Him. In their first devotion, these ladies state, “A good friendship takes time, effort, and sensitivity, but a healthy friendship is not one-sided.”

Each devotion consists of:

A title – Day 1 “A Bit of a Toad”

A memory verse – Day 1 “JOHN 15:15”

A sweet devotion – Day 1 is about how we would not like it if our “friend” was all take and no give

A prayer – Day 1 Anita prayed that we would love Jesus as a real friend, not just for what He can give us.

I pulled one quote that really touched me…

*Prayer is the supernatural communication with the Creator of all things, but it is also a profoundly intimate exchange.*

At the end is a Scripture Index and a couple of short paragraphs about the authors.

I would recommend this devotional for women who love Jesus and want to become closer and more intimate with Him.

Fell in love with this devotional, as it's very feminine in my opinion. A perfect additional to my devotional collection which will be used often. God's special words for all of HIs daughters to grow in prayer.

What a welcoming book. I absolutely adored this read. The Biblical excerpts combined with their personal stories and suggested prayers made for me an original take on the daily devotional. Some of us are just finding ourselves and defining our relationships with God. The ladies that put this devotional together did an excellent job of bringing daily prayer to this amateur, for that I'm grateful.

How God Grows a Woman of Prayer is a well written collection of devotionals. The author Marian Leslie was new to me. I recommend this book. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.

How God Grows a Woman of Prayer is a collection of short devotionals designed for women and written with a focus on prayer. This series of devotionals aims to grow the reader’s prayer life and offers over two-hundred readings on a variety of topics that are relevant to the modern woman.

In reading this collection, I appreciated that this book was by women and for women, and I liked the comfortable rhythm created by the structure of the devotionals. Each entry begins with a scripture, is followed by a 3-5 paragraph devotional, and ends with a short prayer. This predictability works well for someone who is looking to establish a habit of dwelling on God’s word each day, and the length of each devotional lends itself to a reader who is short on time. The topics of these devotionals also work to address situations that tend to be unique to women, and they are anchored in aspects of everyday life.

That being said, this collection felt very broad (like the authors aimed to cover as many relevant topics as they could), and, as a result, there were times where the devotionals felt superficial. The “prayer life” aspect of this collection seems to be focused on the inclusion of prayer at the end of each devotional rather than an in-depth look at the power of prayer or the role of prayer in a modern woman’s life.

This book is a great match for someone who is looking for a daily reminder of the roles of God and prayer in their spiritual life, but I’m not sure I would recommend it for someone who is looking to dive deeper.

The most gorgeous devotional I've ever seen! It's so beautiful and sweet! I believe there's one devotional a day but it doesn't specify it. I'll be reading one a day before bed. It's very girly and well organized. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

How God Grows a Woman of Prayer by Anita Higman is a devotional designed to enhance the reader's spiritual journey. It features over two hundred devotional readings that all begin with a verse and end with a prayer in one sentence or two.

To be honest, I thought this devotional was quite shallow and lacked substance. Every day of the devotional was very short, which I guess can be good for those who don't really have time to read. But then I wonder, why read a devotional in the first place? The devotional readings begin with a verse, which is good. Then the text touches the topic of the Bible verse lightly, yet there is very little substance in there. Though there are good points, the text doesn't go deeply into the topic and therefore doesn't really give too much to even think about.

Now, I think this devotional would be better for very new believers. But still, I thought this devotional lacked substance and I didn't read every devotional reading as they just weren't that good.

How God Grows a Woman of Prayer is a great devotional for a new Christian who is just developing a relationship with God . I like that the passages where short for when you are in a hurry, it made fitting the time in easy. I do wish it would have had more scripture and explanations of scripture. I felt it lacked substance in that way. Overall I would recommend it to someone who is just learning about prayer.

How God Grows a Woman of Prayer by Anita Higman and Marian Leslie is a phenomenal expression of God's Word!!

Many have no clue what the power of prayer can do for one's life. Without God, pray, his grace, and mercery I don't know where I would be.

The Bible verses, simple explanation, and prayers are just the right touch. There are many books like this one but the prayera have touched me in a special way.

For a quick soul relieving pick me up I will Highly recommend this inspirational read!!
