A really lovely, feel good story, which had great characters, a lovely escapism read, lovely scenic countryside and a book that I enjoyed reading. |
I'm a huge romance fan and I love a good love triangle so the synopsis really intrigued me. I was captivated after the first chapter because of a really funny scene and the banter between the main characters but unfortunately, after the first couple chapters it couldn't hold my attention. I really tried to love this but its honestly a few hundred pages too long for me. My excitement in the beginning quickly plateaued because I felt like a whole lot of nothing was happening. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the bond between the two brothers and how opposite they are. I also had no idea this was set in the UK until I started reading the words "bloke and fancy" so that was cool. I enjoy reading books that take place in different countries cause you get a sense of their slang and its fun to learn. The ending wrapped up nicely.. I just wish it got there sooner. |
I want to thank Netgalley for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review. This book was a little bit disappointing. It took forever to get Into the story and at times I considered DNFβing it. I kept reading and it got a bit better and parts were very funny. 2 stars. |
I need to start by saying, wow she's done it again. This is a fantastic author who hasn't produced a book that I haven't given five stars. This one has been worth the wait and is a beautiful read. I have nothing negative I can say about this one. It is filled with gorgeous characters, a great plot and a romance that would melt even the coldest of hearts. All I need Mary-Jayne to do now is find me a real life man who is a mix of Will Barnes and Simon (A Question of Us). I am convinced she has a talent for reading my mind, then creating my perfect man. This book is like many other books by this author, pulled me in from the very beginning and made it impossible to put down. However, in other ways completely different, I have loved the triangle between the characters from the off. Although, I took Will's side very early on. This book has made me laugh, want to shout at Mary-Jayne and has left me smiling and extremely happy with a huge book hangover. I don't know how any book could be as wonderful as this one. I really hope the author will consider a follow on to this one. These are characters I feel hugely invested in and need more. Saying that, whatever the next book is I will be first in line, tweeting to be on the blog tour before it is arranged. The cover is absolutely gorgeous, I do love the bright cover and already excited to order a paperback version of this absolutely magical story for my shelf. This has been the perfect length but I would love more in a follow on book. I would absolutely recommend this fantastic book. Five stars truly doesn't show how wonderful this book is. This has been the perfect read. It has definitely been worth the wait. |
When life for the entire universe and planet turns on its end and like everyone else you "have nothing to do" while your place of work is closed and you are in #COVID19 #socialisolation, superspeed readers like me can read 250+ pages/hour, so yes, I have read the book β¦ and many more today. (I have played a "zillion games" of scrabble, done a "zillion crosswords" and I AM BORED!!!) I requested and received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review. From the publisher, as I do not repeat the contents or story of books in reviews, I let them do it as they do it better than I do πΈ. Robyn Bloom thought Ash Barnes was the love of her life β until one day he announced he was leaving her to fly halfway across the world. Months later, Robyn is struggling to move on β but then she has a brainwave: The Never Have I Ever Club. Her handsome next-door neighbour Will helps her bring their fellow Yorkshire villagers together for some carpe-diem-inspired fun. From burlesque dancing to Swedish massages, everyone has plenty of bucket-list activities to try, but it doesn't take long for Robyn to realise what β or who β her heart truly desires: Will. There's just one problem: he's Ash's twin brother. Make that two problems: Ash is moving home... and he wants Robyn back. We often play the "never have I ever" game at bookclub (or on Zoom as a game with friends) and this is a great premise for this novel. You will find yourself making a bucket list (mine is very bizarre but mostly revolves around food eaten at its original creator's city and restaurant or where it is "best in the world") and that can lead to a raucous evening for sure. The book is well written and I loved the characters - the plot is believable and you should decidedly read this book. I would normally say take this book to the beach with a tonne of SPF1000 sunscreen as you will lose track of time and end up fried to a crisp as a result. BUT, since we are supposed to be in self-isolation, read it on the porch, balcony, backyard, or even your bedroom. And take some vitamin D to make up for the lack of sunlight!) As always, I try to find a reason to not rate with stars as I love emojis (outside of their incessant use by "π-ed Social Influencer Millennials/#BachelorNation survivors/Tik-Tok and YouTube Millionaires/etc. " on Instagram and Twitter... Get a real job, people!) so let's give it ποΈ ποΈ ποΈ ποΈ ποΈ |
