I am a little lost, but can't wait to have the complete work and dive in. Promising to be dark, gothic, mind boggling, suppose some substance abuse /purely my speculation/

As a huge fan of Susanna Clarke I just had to check out Piranesi, and dived into the excerpt provided by Netgally as soon as I could.

It is, as her previous book (Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell), a bit confusing and has a lot of information and descriptions in the beginning, but you fall in love with the mystery and the characters real fast. It took me less than 36 pages.

I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the book.

I saw the excerpt of this book and literally let out a squeal. I cannot wait to read the whole thing.

Thanks to Netgalley for the sample of this book. It has started out great. Cannot wait to read the full book.

I'm not sure I really knew what to expect from Susanna Clarke's new book, after the success of Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, but whatever I was expecting was blown out of the water by this sample! It was totally disorientating and intriguing at the same time, perfectly paced and well-written too. I'm sure the finished novel will make me want to keep turning the pages in the same way as I did here, eager to soak up more about this very unique house and its slightly odd inhabitants. I thought I was excited for this book before... now I can't wait to read it in its entirety.

I absolutely loved the previous works by this author and from this excerpt of her newest I am already excited to fall in love with another one of her works. I am really intrigued by the plot and the characters. I really like her writing style and can't wait to read the full and completed version of this!

Read this amazing excerpt for the book Piranesi from Bloomsbury USA.
You know a book is gonna be good when you're hooked in the first 10 pages itself.

The world building of this alternate reality called 'The World' has been done very nicely. The excerpt leaves us wanting for more and with more questions about the book.

Looking forward to read this book.

So amazing. I love Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell and Piranesi seems to be only better. Really want the whole ARC

I read Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell years ago on the recommendation of my cousin (it's one of his favourite books), and loved it. So when the chance came up to read an excerpt of Piranesi, Susanna Clarkes newest book, I jumped at the chance.
Piranesi is coming to a bookshop near you on the 15th of September. It is based in a house with endless corridors and infinite rooms, follows Piranesi as he explores, but discovers a terrible truth as he does so.
The excerpt was just a sneak peek into the book, but it was more than enough to get me hooked. I cant wait until this book comes out so I can read more.

Soooooo let's start with the fact that I've never read any of Susanna Clarke's work... but WOW am I intrigued or what?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!

Even though I only had the opportunity to read an excerpt of this book I can already tell that Susanna Clarke's imagination is absolutely astounding. This labyrinth like mansion she creates is beyond creative- it's quite sensational. She's also incredibly clever in naming the book and its character- clearly there is much more to this book than meets the eye. It's going to be a fast-paced work of art that sucks you in and spits you out wanting more.

Highly recommend and added the book to my TBR!!!

Thank you to the publisher for providing this excerpt in exchange for an honest review.

After reading only a brief excerpt of this book, it has shot to the top of my to-buy list. The author was enough to draw me in, as I find Jonathan Strange an absolute delight, and even just the cover is really doing it for me. From the very little I've read, this seems to be a fairly bizarre and mildly unsettling tale. What it is exactly about I'm not yet quite sure, but there is some clear memory loss that seems integral to the plot that adds to the overall unsettling feeling and will keep me reading in order to discover the mystery.

Very excited for September!

I have been waiting for Susanna Clarke to come out with another book ever since reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Clarke’s writing is sophisticated and original. I have not yet received the full text of Piranesi to review, but based on the excerpt, it will be yet another fascinating and unique story. The house, Piranesi himself, and the Other are mysteries the reader will seek to explore, and the enchantment of Clarke’s prose easily ensnares any who are seeking a story to get lost in.

I was immediately drawn in by even this tiny, tantalizing glimpse of Susanna Clarke's first book in a decade. Given that context, it's virtually impossible not to compare even 26 pages to Jonathan Strange and Mr, Norrell, Clarke's first, much-loved magio-historical novel, but Piranesi not only lives up to the comparison, it avoids feeling in any way like a retread. The titular Piranesi, writing deliberate, scientifically-minded journal entries, cataloging the halls and tides and statues of his labyrinthine House/World, is an intriguing character from his own first formal, careful lines. The otherworldly nature of the eerie House and its primary (though not only) inhabitant slam up against touches, bare hints in this brief excerpt, of another, more familiar, reality, all of which leaves me intrigued and incredibly eager to read the book in its entirety in just a few months, and to unravel all the secrets of Piranesi and the House.

Soo.... I think I should be waiting to read more of the book before making a whole review.
But nevertheless, it starts with an introduction of the mysterious place this whole story will set in.
It is a lot weird and reading the free excerpt made me feel like being given a few pieces of a box of puzzle board.

Can't wait for the rest!

This excerpt was enjoyable, but as excerpt's always are, far too short. Nevertheless, a fantastic introduction to what I'm sure will be a brilliant read. Now to wait for publication...

Well, the excerpt is quite short and doesn't really give a ton of information about what's going on. I'm definitely still interested in reading this book, but I don't really know how to rate this properly since it's just the first few pages as opposed to an excerpt that helps to set the scene of the book.

I enjoyed the excerpt, and I've requested the entire novel from Edelweiss because it is simply cruel to give me a peek into this book and then make me wait for the book release!

I can’t review this title because it’s just a sample, but what I read so far is AMAZING. Can’t wait for the whole book!!

The less than 40 pages I was able to read of this magnificent novel were more then enough to reassure me that Susanna Clarke had not lost her world building skills over the decades (ok it wasn't decades, but it felt like it) since we've last had the joy of reading her works. Though to be honest I really didn't need reassurance. I am eagerly awaiting this one, and will write a full review if able to secure a copy before publication! We are in for a treat, well worth the wait!
