This was an interesting read. The start with Hannah was... a bit uncomfortably weird. I never really got over that so it was difficult to like her or a lot of her actions afterward as well. The other characters were great and I enjoyed the book, that was just one thing that really stuck at me the entire time.

I definitely did not expect some of the twists and turns this book took. I went through a whirlwind of emotions and went from being happy to anxious to sad, then right back to happy. Not necessarily always in that order. I had a lot of mixed feelings about Marilyn and did not agree with her actions at times. But aside from her I found the other characters very likable.

My first read by this author, Hungry for Love was an enjoyable read. I liked Brandon but found it harder to connect with Nate. And I did not like Nate’s sister at all but that may have been the authors intention. Overall neither of the above comments impacted the story enough to hinder the stories enjoyment. I look forward to exploring more by this author

Rick R. Reed developed these characters really well. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Even though Hannah was a real trip!

Path to romance: hardly smooth and paved with deception!😕

4.5🌟stars
Rick R. Reed must have a head chockful of widely varying plots because I've now read more than a few and never yet come across one that is not unique (or one that I have not really liked!). This is one of his sweeter MM romances. Reed's included some key women characters and, in fact, their drunken and impulsive behavior sets the stage for following events. Brandon and Nate, the romantic leads, come at a relationship with a common attraction but very different motivation.

The out of the ordinary twist to their meeting, their likable personalities and the emotion drew me in. Nate's sister Hannah is a sad, somewhat bitter figure until she gets caught creating problems. But her subliminal motivations are believable, as are the misgivings Brandon suffers when confronted with the deception perpetrated on him when honesty is so important to him. Nate is not innocent on all fronts, but he does get tarred unfairly by his sister's behavior.

And, last but not least, the discussion of women fans of gay fiction and the mysteries surrounding the gender and identity of the authors of gay romance: loved this part of the story and how Nate handled the issue.

Set in Seattle, this romance was warm, real, and a very good read.😊

Thanks to publishers NineStar Press and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review and opinions expressed are completely my own.

Thanks to NetGalley, Rick R. Reed, and Dreamspinner Press for providing me this copy in exchange of honest feedback.

In a quick glance: this book is unputdownable. Hail to Rick’s writing that captivate me from the start. I love the concept, though I think I ever read a story about “online set up” situation like this before, but I’m in the mood of it so I can finish it quicker than I expected.

It sure does a fluffy-cute-sexy romance vibe. Brandon and Nate are two loavable characters. Though at some point, they are too damn good to be true, I do love their chemistry. But, I hardly love Hannah and Marilyn. Well, not I don’t love them as characters. I only hope that they don’t given a lot of room. I prefer to read more about Brandon and Nate. I know that Hannah and Marilyn have a big role to set up the plot, but it’s just too much, for me. I blame them for causing a minimum steamy scenes between Brandon and Nate. *laugh

SERIOUSLY. I’m desperate enough to find more than one sex scene and… there were none. *sad. One of my motivation, as a gay man who reads m/m books, is to find the sex scene to turn me on. Hahaha. Wrong reason for reading, maybe? *shameonme

Well, actually I shouldn’t complain too about that. From the Chapter 1, our beloved Brandon has stated that he wants to find someone based on heart-love, not only for sex. Of course, it can be a sign that the story will center on the love department than sex scene. Still, I just hope that there is a phenomenon sex scene in the end so it will be the perfect ending, FOR ME! Hahaha.

One of the best part from this book is one of its character is a m/m books author. And maybe it is based on Rick’s experience himself in this industry. That character gives us such a brief story about gender on m/m books industry. It is interesting. It reminds me of JK Rowling’s story on fantasy books indutry, where she choose to use JK instead of Joanne Kathleen because there are some rumors that readers tend to avoid reading a fantasy book which is written by women. But, that is an ancient history, right? Now, whoever can dive into books industry at any genre as long as they can create fantastic story.

Back to “Hungry for Love”. As a whole package, I still adore this book. I stand for Brandon-Nate and hope that Rick will continue to tell us story about their life in the future. And, hope that there will be a lot more sex scenes. Hahaha.

Thumbs up! 4,5 out of 5 star.

Brandon Wilde has romantic ideas about meeting that special match and avoids all those hookup apps looking for true love and fulfilment. He decides to try a dating site that targets the more romantic guys. His polar opposite appears to be Nate Tippie, a man who is out with a different partner every night. Nate’s sister Hannah drunkenly creates a profile for Nate on the site, OpenHeartOpenMind, with her bestie Marilyn promising to delete it when they finish. But things get out of hand and Hannah finds herself drawn to Brandon who can’t wait to meet Nate, a man who seems to have all the same romantic notions as him. Another delightful story from Rick R. Reed where we get to meet Marilyn who goes on to star in ‘Legally Wed’. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my free copy in exchange for my honest review. I liked the book and it’s premise of online dating. It was a sweet and fast paced book. Two guys looking for love through an online website was a cute story line. I loved Brandon. He and Nate made the book so sweet. You can’t help but hope that they will have a happily ever after. The problem was Hannah and her best friend who set up the profile for Nate. I didn’t care for Hannah and I couldn’t understand why she said those things online. It was beyond hurtful and spiteful. I have no clue why she was forgiven so easily. Unfortunately because of those two evil ladies I couldn’t love this book. But I will look at Mr. Reeds other books.
