Thea Thomas needs to get away from her old life... and the interfering ex who won't leave her alone. When she lands a job heading up the restoration of Mill Grange, a stunning Victorian manor in Devon, it feels like the perfect opportunity to start afresh but is she ready for all of the problems that will come with her new job?

I really, really enjoyed the setting of this book! I enjoyed reading about certain places in England and about archaeology and restoring historical sites. I enjoyed that there were a lot of unique characters but they were introduced well and were not overwhelming or confusing. I also enjoyed the side story romance of one of the characters, it was added in well and didn't take over the main story.

There were some plot points that were brushed by that I would have liked to dig more into, and a few things that happened that weren't quite believable, but overall it was a light, easy read.

Thank you to #Netgalley for my digital ARC of this book #midsummerdreamsatmillgrange

A lovely story, got a bit frustrated at times we did not get more details about the house and the work they were doing. As you expected I did not like John, Mabel was an ace character and we have met people like her. A sign of a good book you were thinking about it when you could not read it.

Very enjoyable. Being part of a small team dealing with a local restoration project and volunteers made this book all the more enjoyable. I know I have met a few Mabels in my life.

As with all Jenny's books she easily captures your imagination and makes you feel like you are there getting stuck in.

I hadn't realised when picking this book that it was set in the lovely Exmoor, not too far from where I live. The various mentions of local landmarks, from Tarr Steps to Cold Harbour Mill, just added to the warm feeling I got from reading this great story. The love for the restoration and the area came through completely, through the likable characters, to the descriptions of work required to reopen the Manor House itself, and although a little predictable, the ending was rather sweet.
My first #jennykane read but definitely not my last.

A wonderful and fun summer read. When Thea decides to leave her current job and head into the country to head a restoration project things look promising. Working with her best friend Tina, and escaping John, her crazy ex, she feels like her life is getting on track. However, fighting with pushy Mabel, dealing with Shaun, a celebrity, things get complicated. Overall, really liked the story and characters. Didn’t care for his temper, or her shyness, but otherwise fun. Highly recommend this book and author.

It is somewhat difficult to determine the genre of this book, mystery, cozy romance, or historical. The protagonist is restoring an old building and planning to get it ready to be sold. In the meantime, she is stalked by an ex boyfriend, meets a new romance, and has problems with her volunteer workers. It is a book one might read on a rainy afternoon, a quick read, and perhaps enjoy the journey of the young woman.

Fed up of being stalked by her ex boyfriend Thea takes a job heading up a team to restore a beautiful old house. Having changed her phone number etc she is hoping her ex won’t find her and she can get on with the rest of her life. The house is currently being cleaned by a group of volunteers who see Thea as an intrusion they dont need. They are working towards opening the house to the public but when the Open Day is brought forward It becomes obvious that more volunteers are needed. Against her better judgement Thea makes an appeal on TV and there is good news and bad news. Shaun, who is a TV celebrity offers his assistance and her ex boyfriend now knows where she is.

They all work hard to get the house ready for the Open Day but financial problems cause the trustees to look at other ways of making the house pay.

This is a great summer read that will leave you smiling. Read and enjoy

Thea Thomas takes a job as head of a restoration team to get away from her ex, who doesn’t understand that the relationship is over.. The volunteers Thea is in charge of doesn’t like the idea of her telling them what to do. Thea needs new volunteers, which brings local historian Shaun Cowlson, into the story. Then her ex shows up on site, adding to the dilemma. Thea makes the best of the situation every step of the way.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Thea leaves behind her old life and ex boyfriend to undertake the restoration of an old Victorian house with the help of her friend Tina.

When she arrives, it’s not the welcome she was expecting from the volunteers already there, not to mention the head of the team.

When it becomes clear that they weren’t aware of her coming, slowly Thea and Tina starts to get the team to work together it restore it he house.

But, there hurdles every step of the way, interference from Mabel. Add in her ex boyfriend turning up, a celebrity being roped in to help, and deadlines and decisions changed throughout, the book keeps you gripped to see whether Thea and Tina pull off the restoration in time. Also, what happens to the Victorian house after it’s renovated.

Can’t wait for the next book.

Desperate to get away from the ex who refuses to leave her alone, Thea Thomas takes a job as head of a restoration team doing up a grand old manor house in Devon. The volunteers she’s supervising, however, are not welcoming at all, they dislike the idea of an outsider coming in and telling them what to do. With the grand opening of the house just around the corner, Thea needs new volunteers, and fast. Help comes in the unlikely form of local historian Shaun Cowlson, who wants to air the restoration progress on tv. And when her ex shows up on site, Thea is up to her eyebrows in too many people, too many opinions and too many men!
