Nina has written novels and lives in a ramshackle cottage in Somerset. Her ex husband gambled all their money away. She then gets news that a Hollywood actor and producer wants to make her first novel into a film

Nina is a three times Sunday Times best seller but has been left by her husband with three children and no money.
She works hard to try and keep their heads above water, when she is approached by a Hollywood producer to make one of her books into a blockbuster film. This is where her life become a rollercoaster.
She has had no love life for over 3 years, now let the fun begin.
This is a great RomCom story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Cornwall will never be the same.

I discovered New Hope for the Little Cornish Farmhouse by Nancy Barone when I was searching for books set in Cornwall for a new blog post. This book is perfect for a lazy day when you want to get stuck into something that is far removed from your own real life.

This story focuses on Nina, an author of 3 books, who is left destitute after her husband left her, taking everything she had earned. Nina struggles to make ends meet with two children and a house that needs a lot of work.

Totally out of the blue she is whisked off to LA to meet with Hollywood screenwriters and actors who want to turn her first book into a film. She returns to Cornwall with the heartthrob actor whom she is going to co-write the screenplay with.

There is obviously a will they wont they? scenario developing alongside existing friendships and family.

Despite the storyline being so not what I usually read, I found it captivating and read the entire book during a very lazy Saturday. I would definitely read more from Nancy Barone.

This was a great read, slightly different to what I’ve previously read which is always a good thing. I love Cornwall and have holidayed there many times although not this year unfortunately. I really enjoyed this book on many levels and read it very quickly it was a pleasure to read it. It was interesting and quirky which I enjoyed very much.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

A great book to read on a wet sunday afternoon. Nina is a very likeable character juggling two children a money pit of a cottage and a not very likeable husband who has abandoned them and taken all their money

When she gets a chance to live a life of luxury Nina has decisions to make but with a whole village and two loyal friends behind her there is only one outcome.

I loved this story from the beginning and found it difficult to put down. You can easily relate to Nina as a single parent, struggling with everyday life, two kids, a difficult ex and a house that forever needs money spend on it. However Nina is a author who is suffering from writers block and no matter how much she tries she cannot find the motivation. Her life changes unexpectedly when she receives a call from her editor Alice. Her life then begins to shift in directions she never dreamed of. She meets a gorgeous male actor who becomes more than her boss. But along the way she forgets about her close friends and the people who were their for her when she was rock bottom.

I have a confession to make. I usually shy away from feel good novels. I prefer psychological thrillers, contemporary romances or sagas. Why then did I apply to Aria through NetGalley to read New Hope for the Little Cornish Farmhouse by Nancy Barone? I’ve no idea, but I’m glad I did. This is a wonderful read from start to finish.
Three years after writer Nina Conte’s wastrel of a husband Phil Jenkins walked out on her and the children he’s still managing to avoid divorcing her. When he left he emptied the bank account, leaving her struggling. Her royalties have dried up and she has writer’s block. Things look bleak and only help from her friends Emma Perkins and farmer Jack Marrack keep the wolf from the door.
Nina has two children – Chloe who is 13 going on 20 and has an answer for everything and Ben who is 8. Ben has a damaged leg and an operation might well cure him. In contrast to his sister he’s a loving child; something which makes Nina’s struggle more bearable.
The news from Nina’s agent Alice that a Hollywood producer wants to turn her debut novel into a movie sees the end of her financial problems. When Nina and Alice fly to the US there’s a tussle for the rights and she ends up with gorgeous heart throb Luke O’Hara who is planning to move from acting to producing. Introduced to his blind daughter Jessica, who is Chloe’s age, the two families begin to bond. Luke decides to travel to the UK to write the script with Nina.
This is story of Nina’s struggle – with her absolutely useless husband who keeps popping up like a bad penny. With her strong willed daughter, but most of all with her feelings. Because there are two men in her life. The thing is, which one will she choose? Well, you’ll have to read the book to find out!
Highly recommended. A five star review from me.

A great read about friendship and finding love for a second time. There are some great characters (except for Phil, of course!) and set in the beauty that is Cornwall. I really enjoyed Nina's self discovery and loved the idea of the village supporting her through all the hardships.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I wasn’t disappointed. As a single mum myself I could really identify with some of Nina’s struggles. I really liked her character and after a few chapters I felt like I knew the main characters. I’m a big fan of books set in Cornwall and this book definitely ticked all the boxes.

4 stars

Nina and Luke were so disgustingly cute together, this is one of the best feel good romances I have read in a while. The reason I deducted one point is that it was very predictable. I knew what was going to happen, and I knew how it was going to happen. I guess I should have expected that, knowing it is a feel good romance, but I definitely would have appreciated some sort of twist in the book to make it less predictable. Overall, as super easy, quick, cute read that you should read if you're in a sad and bad mood.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Nina, whose written three novels and lives in a rambling farmhouse on the outskirts of a beautiful Cornish seaside village with her family and German Shepherd Minnie.

On paper or, more in her author bio her life sounds great.

Reality is, the farmhouse is crumbling and her gambling ex-husband has run away with all their money. Leaving Nina, who is just about keeping their (leaking) roof over her children's heads.

Her friends, Jack and Emma, the neighbours who live in the houses on either side are the only people she can count on.

Her agent and best friend Alice gives her some life-changing news. The novel she first wrote Written in the Stars, has been selected by a film producer to be turned into a movie and before she knows it, she's flying her out to LA along with her kids, to meet the producers.

Luke O'Hara, Hollywood heartthrob and dashing single dad, is head of the project and insists on having it his way, or the deals off. He would like her to co-write the screenplay with him, meaning that he'll move to Cornwall with his daughter to do it.

It seems all of Nina's dreams have come true. But is this the life she wants?

Recommend it.

This book was so much more than I expected. Nina the main character has been through so much and fiercely protects her two children. If it wasn't for her two best friends Em and Jack I think she would struggle to keep going. She is facing financial ruin due to her writers block and useless ex husband who stole all her money. Her near derelict farmhouse is a money pit. Just when she can't take any more a Hollywood heartthrob offers her a chance in a million to secure her financial future. Just when you think you know what will happen next a twist happens. Exciting right till the end.
