Sorry Not Sorry is the first novel that I have read by Sophie Ranald. I finished the story, but it took me a while to get into. The disconnect for me fell within a few areas: writing style, pacing, characters. I just never became fully invested. I thought that it was funny in parts, though I was expecting more humour. What I wasn't expecting was the amount of angst and drama it had.
In the end, Sorry Not Sorry just didn't excite me. It was just alright.

Sorry Not Sorry by Sophie Ranald
3/5

This novel follows Charlotte, just as her best friend is about to get married and has recently moved out of their flat, she discovers a podcast titled Sorry Not Sorry. It gives her a bunch of challenges to follow as a single woman looking to shake things up.

Overall, the story was an entertaining and quirky romantic comedy which I’d recommend to those who enjoy the genre!

I really enjoyed this novel by Sophie Ranald. I liked the progression of Charlotte's character throughout the book. From navigating new roommates, work, love interests and friends I feel like Charlotte really grew. I really need Tansy's story now.

Sorry, not sorry for standing up for yourself, and maybe finding love along the way. This was a wonderful story that grabbed me from the beginning and held me to the end. Sometimes it's good to step outside your comfort level and take a chance. And Charlotte did just that. This book was funny, charming, and sometimes cringe-worthy. Glad I had a chance to read it.

A contemporary romance that delivers on being an entertaining read.. Sorry Not Sorry is the story of a woman named Charlotte and her quest to find romance.. When she finds that her friends are moving into the next phases of their relationships and moving toward building lives with their partners, Charlotte decides she is going to make more aggressive efforts to jump start her love life. Inspired by the romance podcast, Sorry Not Sorry, Charlotte finds herself in one misadventure after another. A fun story! Witty and humorous. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review this book.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC of Sorry Not Sorry by Sophie Ranald. Recently published book on July 28, 2020. ⁣
⁣Charlotte is a young woman working at a corporate office, and she is busy 24/7. Her best friend Maddy and her husband are moving away from her so she has to find new roommates. She gets two new roommates Tansy and Adam who are both one of a kind characters.
⁣One thing that I really loved about this book was how well written the character's feelings were, that I felt pain and happiness when things would happen to them. I also loved all the different friendships and connections that Charlotte made with her new roommates and coworkers.
⁣SPOILER: The part that I did not like about this book was how good of a character Myles is and then you find out he’s actually a horrible person. I am just really not a fan of cheating in books even when the characters don’t put up with it.
⁣Overall this was a really good read, and you might be shocked by the ending because I for sure was! If you like authors like Christina Lauren and Helena Hunting you will love this book.

This book just wasn't for me. I couldn't connect with the characters or the story. It took quite a while to really get the story started.

Sorry, that I disliked this book. I thought it was awful. After reading the first chapter I knew I was going to have a hard time even finishing this one.

I like Ranald's writing - it's fun and captures serious issues without seeming preachy.

I loved the callbacks to Out With the Ex, In With The New, as well as set up for her next book featuring Tansy. This was fun and easy to read, great for vacation or the beach!

Charlotte is losing her best friend, Maddy, and flat mate- she is moving out to get married. So, not only is Charlotte struggling to adjust to new flatemates, but to her best friend being 30 min away.

Charlotte is beginning to feel left out when future SIL ,snarky Bianca, sabotages everything Charlotte does to help with the wedding- effectively pushing Charlotte out of the wedding planning and Maddys life.

Meanwhile, Charlottes love life is quite lackluster. She finds an uplifting podcast called Sorry, Not Sorry that seems to speak to her life. It sparks her to get out of her shell to get out and do things she never would have with men.

There are some great lessons to be learned, miscommunications, and fabulous laugh out loud moments. Highly recommend!

Charlotte is at that point in her life where her roommates are moving out to get married and she’s reflecting on her own life. She finds a podcast which challenges her to step out of her comfort zone. Hilarity ensues and you’ll be rooting for Charlotte to find love!

This was a fun romcom about a woman trying to "get a love life" after finding herself on her own after her roommates move out. Charlotte's a little bit lost, but she's trying to reinvent herself as a little less predictable, a little less boring, and a little more racy and sexy.

The pacing of the first half was a little slow, but it really picked up in the second half. There were a lot of cringe-worthy angsty moments on Charlotte's journey, sort of like Bridget Jones' Diary type cringe-worthy, and there was a lot of humor as a result.

A fun rom-com diversion. A quick enjoyable read.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a cute book! It was around 3.5 stars for me.

This book explores dating, friendships, work, and figuring things out for yourself. This book is typical romcom, but with a few twists. I wish the big "twist" near the end had happened sooner, but it made for an interesting point.

My biggest issue with the book is there are a couple things that seem to happen out of nowhere and some context or leading up to it would have made it feel more believable. That being said there's a variety of interesting characters, some that are infuriating and some that are delightful, and they keep the story going.

It's an interesting read for people looking to do something a little different!

Thank You NetGalley/Publisher & Author for this gifted e-book.

Summary--
Charlotte has always been a good girl.

She sorts her paper from her plastic. She eats her greens (even Spirulina, whatever that is). Boozy brunches with her best friends on the third Sunday of every month are about as bad as she gets.

But being good is getting boring…

Charlotte’s not just stuck in a rut – she’s buried in it up to her chin. The only company she has in bed is the back catalogue of Netflix and falling in love feels like the stuff of fairy tales. So when she stumbles across a popular podcast, Sorry Not Sorry, which challenges women to embrace their inner bad girl, she jumps at the chance to shake things up.

Sorry Not Sorry was a fun book about a typical single girl living in London, juggling changing relationships with friends and men. Although it was a generally enjoyable read, it felt like it was about 100 pages too long and tried combining a few too many story lines.

What I liked:
- the slight "Bridesmaids' feel to the drama with her best friend's wedding although the main 'villain' of this story drove me bonkers
- the podcast she listened to that steered the direction of her story and the twist at the end.
- her quick found relationship with Tansy, her new roommate, and how they had each other to open up to.

What I disliked:
- the random story lines involving her other new roommate, Adam
- how she didn't fight for her relationship with Maddy
- way too many details focusing on things that were unimportant. while i understand this is needed to understand and build the character, it made for a really long story which felt unnecessary.
