This is William and Eloise’s story. She is a cook and he is a gentleman. They fall in love. They are from different social spheres. Can a relationship work between them? How much is he willing to give up? I love the Townbridge stories.

William is happy to have returned home but he is definitely not looking forward to his mother's matchmaking attempts. What he didn't count on was the mouthwatering meals that his family was now being served. Looking for a late night snack, he is shocked to learn that the new cook is a beautiful young woman that he is instantly intrigued with.

Eloise has come to England from France for employment. She couldn't find work there and loves working for the Townsbridge family. She hopes to save up enough money to one day open up her own cooking school. When she meets William, she knows that she might lose her chance at her dream. If they become involved, she'll lose her job. But evening knowing this, she can't seem to quell her feelings.

Will this upstairs/downstairs romance end up with Eloise losing everything she has worked so hard for or will they both get their HEA?

I really enjoyed William and Eloise's story. I was a quick, very enjoyable read. If anything, I wish it has been longer so that we could have gotten to know them a little better and spent more time with them.

This short novella, just under 200 pages is a quick and charming read. The eponymous Mr Townsbridge has just returned home from a posting in Portugal. William is keen to avoid his mother's matchmaking attempts, and as a younger son has taken the opportunity to travel and work. He is now home, and on taking tea with his family he is first smitten by the beautiful pastries, and then by the beautiful and talented Eloise Lamont, his Mother's French chef.

Eloise is also drawn to the good looking Mr Townsbridge, and adorably flustered by his interest, but how can they have a future, when she is so unsuitable as a wife, and will not be his mistress.

This was a sweet and pleasant read with lovely characters, and familiarly annoying and lovable family members.

There wasn't space for a very complex plot, but this was a fun and well written story with lovely characters.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this novella and really loved the heroine, Eloise. Eloise is the family's newest cook and her cooking is treasured by the family. Their son, William, arrives home and from the start, his family immediately warns him from to stay away from the cook. Of course, he does not. Despite the prevailing beliefs of the time about women's and servant's roles, Eloisa stood up for herself spoke her mind. The couple overcomes their odds and finds their own HEA. Although the book was brief, I liked the secondary characters, and I hope that the author gives William's younger sister, Athena, her own book in the future.

3.5 stars
It's very unusual and frown upon when a high society member marries or even have connections that are brought up to light with someone under their social status, but there are always exceptions of the norm and this short story will show exactly that.
I loved Eloise and her character is very different in a great way from other regency heroines , she is her own persona, has dreams and dignity and won't let others to step upon them.
William is a hero that i hate to love many times while reading their story, he is untrusty and can come as a disappointment because it takes a lot of time and persuasion for him to actually do what his heart wants and not being the snob he needs to pretend he is in front of other people.
It's short and a fast read that many historical romance lovers will enjoy

This was brief and enjoyable, but not remarkable. I liked the story and the characters and I could see where it might be fun to read some of the other books in the series. It was fairly predictable, but it’s a romance, so surprises are not usually a part of the genre. I laughed at some of the interactions between Eloise and William, particularly when he decided to take a dinner roll after she warned him to back off. “There was a pause in which it felt as if the continued existence of the world was at stake.” I loved the use of hyperbole to describe the tension. Characters were pretty well developed but not necessarily complex and the plot was, again, predictable. Overall, I liked the writing style and enjoyed the novella.

This was a fast-paced, swoon-worthy read, that I found I did not want to put down! The story was original and exciting with characters that were realistic and likable. It is everything you could want in a delightful stroll through the pages of a historical romance and more!

I enjoyed this short romance story with William and Eloise.

Eloise is a cook that was hired by William mother to cook for the family. When William return home and tastes Eloise cooking he decided to meet her.  But after meeting her she is not what he expected.

This story was fun to read. But a little sad to. With the twist and turn of their journey to be together.

I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley and Booksprout. This is my honest unbiased opinion.

William Townsbridge has returned home to ponder his future, as he’s completed his last assignment. Though he loves his family, he knows he won’t be staying long, as his mother is bound to start urging him to find a bride, and to even begin matchmaking. Though he’s never been all that interested in food, other than needing it to survive, William is in rapture over the delicious dinner and dessert. When he learns that the family has a new cook, he decides to make her acquaintance. Rather than the round and jolly middle aged servant he thought he’d find, there is instead a beautiful young woman.

Eloise uses the title of “Mrs. Lamont,” though she’s not married, as is customary for cooks and housekeepers. Ellie is French, and has an aristocratic heritage, but her family has fallen on hard times, thus, causing her to seek employment. She is surprised at William’s casual behavior, and his invading her territory. Though she’s not shy about speaking up, she’s also fighting an instantaneous attraction to him, one she’s determined to suppress. She recognizes that William finds her similarly appealing, and hopes that he will not pursue a relationship that can go nowhere.

William is basically an honorable man, and makes a decision right from the start to avoid Ellie, as he’s never been the kind of man to take advantage of servants. It’s not long before his own desires get the better of him, and he’s taking drastic measures that will allow him and Ellie to pursue their mutual passion. His muddled senses don’t see that Ellie is not that kind of woman, and rather than become William’s mistress, she chooses to leave the Townsbridge family’s employ, and vanishes.

I am a great fan of a well written novella. FALLING FOR MR. TOWNSBRIDGE is very short, and therefore doesn’t provide much interaction between William and Ellie. I felt that their instant lust happened much too quickly, and that I didn’t really get to know these characters in depth. I didn’t like the change in William, as he decided to pursue Ellie, and I would have liked to see her be a bit stronger. What I appreciated the most about the story is that William makes his decision based solely on his feelings, without knowing that Ellie has some blue blood running through her veins. Overall, FALLING FOR MR. TOWNSBRIDGE is a light and entertaining read, one which will delightfully fill a couple of hours.

This was a quick, charming read. It was a great escape for an afternoon. I just wish it could have been longer!

These Townsbridges books continue to satisfy and surprise - in this latest, the Townsbridge in question, headstrong William, who falls in love with his mother's new cook, an across-social-boundaries attraction that is of course completely impossible in the high-born Regency world the Townsbridges inhabit. Sophie Barnes is an old hand at crafting smart, intricate stories, and this book is no exception; she takes an impossible situation and not only makes it believable but easily gets the reader to care about her characters.

This was my first read to do the Townsbridge series by Sophie Barnes and now I am curious to find and read the others. This book is a rather short novella and thus is a very quick read for voracious readers.

William Townsbridge who is the third son of a Viscount, upon returning home from working in Lisbon his the last year happily returns to his family dreading his matchmaking mama. William not particularly looking for romance is dazzled when he taste the culinary delights of mother’s latest cook.

Eloise Lamont cooking skills which we find was learned from her grandfather’s is very aware of her social status from that of William and is but looking to make her own way in the world, and perhaps open her own establishment. A native of France, her youth makes being a chef harder which is why she headed to England and landed at the Townsbridges. She feels settled in with the family that has welcomed her and William is a new complication.

It’s is quite clear that William and Eloise are attracted to each other, but know neither should act on that attraction. I personally felt that the characters are not quite developed enough for my taste, but being a short novella that could not be helped. I give this book four stars as I loved watching the two of them fall and love and try to figure it all out. I recommend you read this cutesy novella to see how these two manage to make out.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book in exchange of my honest and sincere opinion.

As much as William had dreaded coming home, it seemed the new cook his mother had hired was amazing, with all the delectable dishes and the desserts! Oh my, heaven. When he mentioned to his mother that he should lock Mrs. Lamont, the cook away, his sister could only suggest she meet her.
What he did not expect was the beautiful feisty Eloise who was not the image of the cook he had imagined!
To say the least they form an attraction that is magnetic and the attachment begins! But is there any hope for these two from different classes?
I loved these two and watching as they came together and the journey it took with several twists and turns was wonderful. Love anything that Sophie Barnes pens and this is no exception! Prepare to sit back and enjoy!

It was so sweet and wholesome.
I would have loved to see the relationship develop, even more, I wish it was a novel, not a novella.

This was a fun historical romance that moves rather quickly. I enjoyed the main female character and came to like the male lead. While it wasn't anything spectacular, all in all, I enjoyed this book.

Nice read in a one sitting book. William just returned home after a year in Portugal. His family is so excited to see him again! William is happy to be home but a little leery about his matchmaking mama. He is thrilled with the new French cook Eloise cooking....simply delicious! He goes in search for a late night snack and couldn’t believe the beauty in the kitchen. Sparks fly and society rules get in the way. There is no way a Noble can be with a hired help. Or is there?

Falling for Mr. Townsbridge (The Townsbridges #3). By Sophie Barnes. 2020. Sophie Barnes. (ARC eBook).

William Townsbridge has returned home from Portugal and is not quite sure what to do next. With his two brothers happily wed and his mother trying to match her eldest daughter with a husband, settling down and marrying seems the logical step. William’s previous experience with women has jaded him into thinking they are only interested in his family’s wealth. That is until he meets the family’s new cook, the talented, feisty and forbidden Eloise Lamont. It may be true that they way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.

Falling for Mr. Townsbridge is a charming Regency romance where the couple must decide if they will let their stations in life determine who they can love. This novella was my introduction to Barnes and I look forward to reading other books by her.

Falling For Mr. Townsbridge, by Sophie Barnes, is available at booksellers on 7-21-2020. Falling is book three in Ms. Barnes series The Townsbridges.

Falling is a novella featuring The third Townsbridge son William, who has been away in Lisbon working for the British ambassador. He's lucky that his father doesn't uphold the tradition of younger sons going into the army or clergy. Will is allowed to work and live on his own. He's lucky and knows it, he enjoys being self-reliant.. Nice guy with a nice family makes his a good catch even without a title. The new family cook is French and pretty and wants to keep her job. So it's stay away from Will, impossible, and do not fall for him, impossible. It's lovely how Wills family wants him to be happy above all else. An interesting story of love conquers all.

If you have a hankering for a quick, romantic, opposite social classes attract, regency era read featuring a sassy, talented French born chef heroine and the younger son of an English Aristocrat family, you might fall for this story line in a big way, my fellow romance book loving friends. This novella is heavy on the notion of romance via mental musings, stolen passionate kisses, and amorous touching between this society forbidden pair as their at first glance, soul mate attraction and connection will not be denied. For those who like steam, you'll have to wait til near the end for the "all the way" scene but that does not mean things do not get verra heated here and there along the way.

At only 105 pages, I breezed right through it in one sitting. Being the first and only book of the series I've read so far, it did not matter I had not previously been introduced to this family or any of the sub-characters beforehand. The author did a good job acquainting me to them all.

The main importance here, of course, is love is proven to conquer all and won't be denied, even when social bias and knuckleheaded thinking tries to intervene. I enjoyed the fact when push came to shove this leading man fought for love, and they both ultimately had support when it counted most.

Title: Falling for Mr. Townsbridge, Series: The Townbridges (Book 3), Author: Sophie Barnes, Pages: 105, stand-alone but part of a series, French heroine whose a chef, only one intimate sex scene, rich but has a job aristocrat hero, conflicted social circumstances, romance safe for me.

Book 1 - When Love Leads to Scandal
Book 2 - Lady Abigail’s Perfect Match
Book 3 - Falling for Mr. Townsbridge
