Wow, just Wow. I have been anxiously awaiting Shot's story and it was definitely worth the wait. It was an amazing read with wonderful characters. This riveting read pulled me in from the first page and I didn't put it down until the last one. It had action, suspense and danger but, it was the wonderful characters that pulled me in and kept me pulling for them until the end. Blacklisted is another five star read by this talented author and I can't wait to read what she writes next. |
Finding an unexpected connection with her family in Loveless, Texas, Presley Baskin wants to protect them at all costs. But, with her psycho ex-best friend still out there somewhere, intent on ruining her life, Presley attempts to keep her distance… and draw her attacker out… once and for all. Palmer “Shot” Caldwell owes Presley his life, and he believes in always repaying his debts. So, no matter how much Presley tries to assure him that she doesn’t need saving, Shot insists on protecting her… and keeping her very, very close… ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Blacklisted was sexy and suspenseful, opposites attract romance featuring a straight-laced medical examiner and the bad boy president of a motorcycle club. Presley may be in danger, but she is done living her life in fear. And while Shot may be completely wrong for her, the rough and dangerous MC leader is the only man she has ever truly connected with… After the loss of her mother, Presley travels to Loveless, Texas, where she not only finds her half siblings, but also a sense of belonging that she never knew she was missing from her life. Shot is her polar opposite, and completely wrong for her, but their attraction is inescapable. Shot is the president of the Sons of Sorrow MC and has dedicated everything to his brothers and his club, but Presley has him second thinking his priorities when it comes to putting the woman he grows more and more attached to before the men he has vowed to lead. This was a good story and another great addition to the Loveless, Texas series! Presley and Shot’s chemistry was off-the-charts steamy and utterly addictive. Although, I did feel as though their relationship was missing an emotional connection. They also seemed to go from attraction to completely in love just a little too fast for me. In addition to the budding opposites attract romance, the suspense in this book kept the plot interesting and engaging throughout! I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review. |
Thank you to Jay Crownover, InkSlinger, Netgalley, and the team at Forever for the advanced review copy of Blacklisted the third book in the Loveless, Texas series. I was over the moon to receive this book nearly two months early. I finished it the day Jay Crownover announced she got a starred review in Publisher’s Weekly for this story, the first book of her’s to ever do so. Maybe that’s why reading this release felt so special, I devoured it. No surprise here Jay killed this book. Check out my more detailed thoughts below… Characters: Blacklisted is Presley and Shot’s story. Presley is a character who has been in the Loveless, Texas universe for a while now, one I was so excited to finally be in her head. Presley is such a strong protagonist for this story, a young woman who has struggled, who has been forced to be independent. In the face of all of that, she has half-brothers, a half-sister, half-sister in-laws and now a love interest who want to show her she does not have to go about life all on her own. Setting: The story is set in Loveless a town in Texas that is the complete opposite of its name. A town that is so full of love that for Presely and Shot people in dire need of it, it is the perfect place to be. Romance: Shot and Presley have all-encompassing chemistry. It was electrifying to read them fall in love for the first time in their lives. The romantic scenes were so incredibly hot. Blacklisted receives five out of five stars. |
This third book in the Loveless, Texas series by romance author Jay Crownover is a great blend of MC and opposites attract. Presley Baskin, the newly found family member of the close knit Lawton family, explores her deep curiosity and interest in Shot Caldwell, president of Sons of Sorrow…who now owes her a favor… Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I love the characters that have continued throughout this series. Author Jay Crownover writes a great western/MC outlaw type read, and I really enjoy her writing. The flow of the story was good, the storyline was good, and the suspense aspect worked well! There were a few times I thought things were off a little in the story, but I would still absolutely recommend reading this, making this a 4.25 star for me. |
This was a great read! I was hooked from the moment I started this! It was a fast and action pact read! There was no unnecessary or drawn out drama, which I really appreciate. Shot and Presley were perfect for each other! If you like romance with a bad boy, some suspense and some heat this book is definitely for you! I would absolutely recommend this one!!! Received an arc for a honest review. |
It’s no secret that Jay Crownover is one of my favorite authors. She had me at Rule years ago, and I’ve never looked back. (If you haven’t read her Marked Men series, drop what you’re doing and do read them all like right now!) Needless to say, she’s also one of my automatic 1-click authors. And I’ve been not-so-patiently waiting for Shot and Presley’s story for quite some time. Blacklisted is part of her Loveless, Texas series, but all of the books are written as standalone titles. As usual as a series junkie, I highly recommend all of the books in the series. NICUnurse’s Rating: What can I say other than this book is just one more reason to love her writing? The story actually wasn’t as gritty as some of her previous books, so if you’re expecting it to be like those, you might be a little surprised that it’s not. But trust me when I say this book is nowhere near disappointing. (I doubt any of her books could ever be disappointing to me, at least.) Blacklisted is a bit of a contemporary romance, suspense, and small-town romance all rolled into one, along with a big side helping of a coming into their own thrown in so that it’s not a cookie-cutter type plot (no surprise as I’d NEVER expect cookie-cutter plots from Jay Crownover!). I could keep gushing about Jay, and I could keep gushing about Blacklisted, but I’ll stop here and just say that… I give Blacklisted by Jay Crownover 5 out of 5 stars! |
4.5☆ Blacklisted was a great book full of suspense, intrigue, and family. I will admit that I had a hard time remembering some of the things that happened in the other books, so it took me a bit to catch up to the plot. I found the book really interesting though with everything going on and not knowing how it was going to play out for Shot and Presley. Speaking of these two, they are great characters that I enjoyed learning more about. They lead very different lives and have very different personalities, but they come together and they just make sense. Presley makes Shot relax and slow down, while Shot makes Presley see that there's more to her monotonous routine in life. They compliment each other well and make each other better. I also really loved seeing Presley's relationship with her family grow stronger. The Lawton's are a great group of individuals and I love how they take Presley in and care for her. It was great to see, and even a little emotional. Blacklisted was a great book and I hope there's still more in store for this gang, cause they're great to read about! *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.* |
4.5 stars I loved this book. It’s my first Jay Crownover so now I’m madly reading all the rest of her catalog. LOL She really grabs you at the start and I couldn’t put it down. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review. |
Steamy, charged, and alluring! Blacklisted is a passionate, lighthearted, opposites attract romance featuring the successful, driven, newest Lawton sibling, Dr. Presley Baskin, who after saving the life of the Sins of Sorrow Motorcycle Club President has more than an unruly group of loyal protectors, she also has the ruggedly handsome, dangerous Palmer (Shot) Caldwell to help her finally end the reign of terror wrought by her ex-best friend Ashby Grant, and a hot-bloodied man to potentially warm her sheets. The writing is sultry and intense. The characters are wary, stubborn, and committed. And the plot is an enticing mix of friendship, family, danger, drama, instant attraction, smouldering tension, sizzling chemistry, and delicious heat. Blacklisted is the third and final story in the Loveless, Texas series, and even though it’s a little bittersweet to say goodbye to the characters we’ve come to know and love over these past three novels, it is nevertheless a superb ending to a fabulous series that I highly recommend and will undoubtedly miss. |
I want my own tattooed badass who falls for me or even an alpha Texas Ranger. I have not read the first two books in this series, but after reading this one I am very interested and invested in reading the other characters story. I thought the book was interesting and there was for sure never a dull moment. I cannot even imagine going through what Presley and the rest of her newly found family have experienced. I probably would become a homebody that never leaves the house in constant fear and anxiety. Unless...... my very own Shot was there for me and never left me alone😏 I voluntarily read this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. |
Presley and Shot managed to give readers everything they could have wanted and so much more! Between balancing new family ties and possible love against danger, both Presley and Shot had to figure out just how much they wanted out of togetherness, and then how exactly to get it. And when it all came down to a hail of bullets and blood, the Lawton family and the bikers tossed all rivalries out the window to make things right. I have really enjoyed this series because it shows just what a talented writer Jay is. She has managed to take us from NA bad boys to gritty city problems and now to grown up men with so much more than just some troublemaking tendencies or grit running through their veins. This may be her best series, and I definitely think that Presley and Shot are in my top three couple, simply because they both had so many layers to them and Dr. Death brought out more light in Shot than he’d ever thought he even had. And I must admit, if she ever decides to write about the other Sons, I’m definitely there for it, because she’s sure to weave tales that are impossible to put down about people and places that feel utterly real, flawed, and completely human. |
What a nice conclusion to this series. The running storyline of all the weird s#$t happening in Loveless finally comes to a head. Remember Presley? The half sibling? The one that looks so much like Kody? The one Kody almost ripped to shreds when she first saw her as the siblings’ childhood home went up in flames? I can keep going… So now that her status has been established, there are things to resolve. Mainly – finding Ashby Grant. The sociopath former best friend of Presley. The one who had allegedly killed her mother, and who made Presley seem unhinged. But now, having saved Shot’s life, he’s indebted to her. And when Presley asks for a favor back, she puts them both in a situation where they are both in danger, where they fall in love and find out about themselves, what they never thought they’ll have. Shot is truly a fantastic man, loyal and fierce, sweet and badass. And Presley is such a strong person to have dealt with everything she had and still fight for what’s right. A genuinely spectacular, emotional and action-filled, sexy and innocent, with some insanely conniving sociopathic mastermind of a rollercoaster. Make sure you read all the books in order to get the full effect of this story. |
Received in exchange for a honest review. I love Shot. I love how he is rough and tough on the outside but is so loyal and kind as well. How he doesn’t pass judgement on someone right away but does get to know someone first. How he doesn’t care what others think of him and how honest he is. His attraction to Presley at first was a bit stagnant but as the story went on wow that attraction sizzled and set the book on fire. He was very loyal to Presley and didn’t hide himself from her even if that would have made it easier on him. He was open and honest. He also protected her and made her feel safe from the one trying to harm her. He respected Presley and he trusted her. Presley is a little uptight when the book begins. She judges Shot because of who he is and how her family feels about him. To me,even though she helped him, she was a bit snobbish towards him at the beginning. Slowly, she learns to rely and trust on him but it did take time. He had to prove himself to her. She was in trouble and scared but trying to take control back of her life. Sick of hiding and wanting to live her life again, she goes back to work even with the danger still out there. Shot was there by her side protecting her. Made her feel safe. As she gets to know Shot, she loosens up a bit and we see a Presley that blossoms. She is less uptight and more confident in herself. She is more sure of her feelings and of family and what that means. She relaxes more and you get to finally know her and see who she is. A strong, smart woman who wants to be loved and respected. Her friend was diabolical and she comes to terms with that as she learns to live with the danger she is in and not let it control her life. As the danger gets more dark, Shot tries to bring it to a close and it is shocking the lengths that are gone to for this to occur. I never thought that the pairing and collaboration that occurred would but it was done for Presley and that was all that mattered. Shot loved Presley enough to do anything for her to get the danger ending. That is where it gets dicey because Presley you can tell has begun to let Shot in more and loves him but is overwhelmed with things. Take this and her sister’s misinterpretation of an event and we get where Presley almost loses a love that was meant to be. A love that helped balance her and give her someone who respects and supports her. The romance was a fun slow burn. Watching Presley learn to let someone in and trust them is wonderful to see. Watching Shot fall in love was so much fun and the way he protected Presley was so heartwarming. I love how all the characters continue to be seen in each of the books in the series. How family is seen to be a strong bond and helps Presley to heal. It also is something Presley gets and treasures. Love how these brothers and sisters are there for each other no matter what and how they love and support each other so fiercely. A great story of love, trust, family and finding where you belong. |
SO EXCITED WE GOT A SHOT BOOK!!! This title was everything I wanted and more! The way that Shot brings out the sass in Presley is amazing, the sex scenes are crazy steamy, and the plot as high stakes as ever. Bringing in the full perspective of the MC did a lot to fill out this story for me, and I was THRIVING because of it!! I would LOVE to see this author do a full MC series! |
This is book 3 in the Loveless, Texas series and I would absolutely read them in order as they seem to build upon each other and the stories interact with each other. In this one we get Dr. Presley Baskin and Palmer 'Shot' Caldwell's story. Presley has always lived her life quietly. At least until the Lawton family claims her, they are far from quiet or calm. When she gets a call for help, she doesn't feel like she can say no. And she is roped into helping Shot when she knows this will lead to trouble. She doesn't want anything to do with the leader of the local motorcycle gang and the trouble he brings. But when a stalker comes after her, he is the only one she feel's like she can trust. Shot knows his life isn't for relationships. But when the shy, pretty doctor takes a bullet out of him and patches him up-he feels protective of her. And when she comes to him for help, he fully understands that there isn't anything he wouldn't do for her. Not only to make sure she is safe but also that she is happy. I really liked this one! I was surprised because I wasn't sure how I would like Shot after the glimpses you see of him in the other books. But I have to say, I loved him! He is alpha and sexy but at the same time he can show the people he truly cares about that he has a heart and a sweet side. That he just never got to show to people before because he was raised in the MC and that is his life. I loved how the Lawton's drew Presley in and made sure she knew that she was a part of their family no matter what. I had some issues with Presley. And honestly I feel like that is more just my preference for characters more than anything. She just got on my nerves sometimes. But on a whole, I liked them together. And the suspense part definitely kept me interested and wanting to know more! Of course now I am kinda hoping for a spin off about the other MC members, because I did like the glimpse we have of them! |
I believe this is the end for this series, but what a ride and journey it was. I absolutely enjoyed it and highly recommend this series. I would read these in order due to the characters that appear from earlier works and part of the story transfers to the next one. I just loved Shot the way how he was with Presley. I was just thinking I was expecting a bit more with Ashlyn outcome etc... it seemed a bit rushed. Overall though, awesome series. I still have a few of Jay's books in my library and I think I need to move them up on my tbr sooner. I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. |
Blacklisted is finally here!!! I have been waiting for Shot and Presley's book (im)patiently. Motorcycle club, girl on the run with a stalker, and a murder mystery?! Hell yes! Presley saved Shot's life and he is a bit protective of her. This is unlike him because he has always been a "no relationship" type of guy. I love Presley as a heroine. Her life blew up in her face and she is trying to rebuild in Loveless with a family she didn't know about. She is quiet and introverted, but brilliant. Shot is her opposite and I think that is perfect. There is plenty of danger and suspense mixed with the romance between Shot and Presley. I think its important to read the previous books first in order to understand the family dynamics and the town dynamic! This is probably my favorite book in the series so trust me, reading books 1 and 2 are totally worth it! Blacklisted delivers an explosive romance and engaging suspense to create an unputdownable binge read! |
Presley Baskin lived a quiet, ordered life as she progressed her career through the medical examiner’s office. When she was offered a promotion, it set off a chain of events, sparking the ire of a sociopath. Shot Caldwell lives for his club. He may not always act within the law, but he gets things done his way. He knows local law enforcement watches him, but he also makes sure he does things right, so he won’t get caught. When Presley pulls a bullet from him, he finds himself in her debt, a position he doesn’t allow often. But when she needs his help he will do everything possible to keep her safe. This is a compelling opposites attract. I loved both of these characters for different reasons. Shot has been a recurring side character in the Loveless series, and though he is rough around the edges and very much enmeshed in the MC life and all the law breaking that goes with it, he has a strong compass that guides his decisions and actions. Presley is very much a by the book kind of person, so learning to live with his code is a challenge for her. As the threat looming over Presley has her questioning every move, I couldn’t help but wait to see how the men around her would react. As the half-sister of the sheriff (and all the Lawton siblings), she has people looking out for her. She isn’t used to having the support though and it never hurts to have more. She doesn’t want to impose on her new-found family, so finds herself turning to Shot when she needs help. There was more to this story than just the threat from her former best friend. I loved the way things played out in the other aspects of the story, pieces I hadn’t seen coming but were needed for Presley to feel fully a part of the Lawton family. This was as much Presley finding her place in the family as it was about her relationship with Shot (and those 2 things were also connected in the small town of Loveless). I enjoyed this return to Loveless and am glad we got this story for Shot and Presley. The series arc finds resolution (finally!) in this story and I have been eagerly waiting to see how that all played out.

Follow Me: Blog: Reviews by Tammy & Kim (Rachel and Jay) | Facebook | Twitter | Pinterest | Instagram |
I just can’t get enough for this family and all the issues that follow... Blacklisted gives me total Devil vibes if he was a little bit country and rolled with an MC. Shot is the perfect mix of compassion and indifference. He won’t hesitate to take you down but he loves strong. When Presley rolled into town no one was sure of her intentions, least of all Shot. Together they are building chemistry that surpasses any differences they may have. I love a Jay Crownover book because with each story I get attention to detail that transforms the read. Blacklisted was no different. The build for these two characters was all consuming. Their push and pull allowed the story to flow with ease. Each of her books brings on a new adventure I welcome with open arms. Grab this read along with the full series. |
