this was a really good scifi read, the characters were great and I really enjoyed the plot. It was a unique read with a bit of mystery.

(I am 75% through this book at time of writing the review)

This is a phenomenal un-put-down-able read, and I devoured half of the book in one night (would have read more, but it was almost 2am!)

An impoverished Vietnamese fisherman catches an all-new species of fish. Seeking help from his friends at the local Fisheries department, the fish catches the attention of a secretive band of researchers, who discover this fish has the ability to alter time. The researchers themselves are then caught in a race to find more, and protect the fish from the American and Chinese military who seek to weaponise it.

It's a fast-paced book encompassing geo-political thriller elements, science, science-fiction, traditional folklore and cryptozoology. Beautifully written, and vividly painted scenes, it's a joy to read, and I both want to finish it, and NOT want to leave this world.

If this is Razi Imam's debut novel, I look forward to reading his future work!

**Many thanks to NetGalley, and Books Forward for providing an advanced copy of the book. All opinions are my own**

This book started one way and ended in a way I never saw coming. I wasn't sure what to expect and that is always a high point for me in reading! I loved the fact we had multiple viewpoints and characters came from all aspects of life. I couldn't put this book down because I did not know what or who the next page might bring. As any good science fiction it made me think about the real world and what is really out there in the deep blue seas! I recommend if you like your sci fi with a little of scare as well as a lot of speculation about the world around us!

Well written. This book hooked me from the beginning. The plot was good and focused around Time. If anything I may have had a problem with the Science aspects of the book. But I would recommend this to anyone to read.

A good intellectual read.

Thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for sending me this ARC. The opinions are my own.

This book had so much heart, so much love, and so much intrigue. It was very exciting, and made me think about what could be. In one way, I was glad it was a work of fiction, and in other ways I wished parts of it could be true. At first I read quickly, then I went back to re-read and make notes and as I did that, the book came together, and I enjoyed it all the more. At first, it jumped around too much, but the more i read, the more it started to come together very satisfyingly and really quite cleverly.

The book begins with a fisherman in Vietnam who is willing to risk everything to catch a valuable fish that would provide enough money to pay for his beloved wife’s cancer treatment. He catches a fish that changes everything, an animal that can change time itself

The story moves to a group of adventurous scientists who are explorers, and are also risk takers, and they are also willing to risk it all for what they believe in. These scientists are studying hidden animals - mythological creatures about whom there are enough stories to make scientists and zoologists suspect they may be more than just story. In this book, the mysterious fish is Isikhathi Isilwandle from Zulu folklore, and it can change perceptions of time in different ways. Imagine what a gift, or a weapon this could be. When the governments catch wind of the discovery, the adventure begins.

I highly recommend this book. It keeps you thinking, and as I said, glad it isn’t true, but intrigued as to what might be. I loved the way the author portrayed his characters, and what they were willing to do and for what reasons. Conclusion, include your overall opinion

Looking forward to the next books as they come out.

The book has different view points from Pham Kai and Minh. Pham Kai who comes from a fishing family when he always wanted something more. Takes a weird turn when he catches an unclassified fish.

Sebastian and Maria are scientists who are also looking to discover new patterns. In science.

They end up on a expedition of a lifetime all due to this unexplained creature. Which leads other people to come into their life some old and some new.

It figuratively no pun intended becomes a race where time is of the essence. With all things going on. Time is a funny thing it speeds up and slows down. They bring up one of the many theories.

This book had me tearing up, crying, eyes wide open while reading( I guess that’s hanging on to every page ? Then an huge smile on my face.

This arc was given to me by netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did I fell in love! The author really paints a beautiful picture in this novel- it feels less sci-fi thriller and more like a beautiful discovery you want to believe is real. I really enjoyed looking up some of the terminology and myths as I went along. And the plot IS thrilling-its not one of those books that advertise and don’t deliver. Job well done!
