I love a slow burn romance and this one was definitely slow! I enjoyed seeing how Daphne and Nina's relationship developed and when I closed the last page, I was left with a smile on my face.

This book started with such in interesting premise... "garbage" theft. First there it turned into a sweet friendship and then romance. Both main characters were likeable and older than many books in lesfic which I really appreciate. The secondary characters, especially Sophie, added richness to the book. I feel like the ending could have spanned a few more pages. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this read. Both main characters, Daphne and Nina, were very likable, real, and even easy to relate to. I connected with Daphne more and thought her quirks and personality were great. Nina and her fit well together and the fact that the obstacles were more than just "she is in a relationship" made it fun to read. I would have liked the ex-husband to maybe have played a bigger role or even Noah but that would habe only added to an already good story. While there is a little drama, I felt both characters acted their age in dealing with it. I enjoyed this book and I am sure many will too.

Thank you to Netgalley and Jean Copeland for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I really enjoyed the beginning and middle of this story. I thought it was well paced with the perfect amount of conflict to keep me hungry for more. Where the story fell short for me was the ending. I felt like the pace totally changed and put in fast forward mode. I feel like the story could of really benefited from the ending being drawn out a little more.

For the most part, I enjoyed the characters. I found Daphne to be an annoying character. She was just a bit too winey for me. Nina was interesting enough. She came with her own set of obstacles and it was good to watch her face them. My favorite character in the whole story was Sophie. Sophie is a side character who really stood out to me and I would of loved to of seen more of her within the book. She was sassy and fun and really added something to the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good adult f/f romance.

This was a really fun read. Ms. Copeland weaves a funny, sweet and romantic story with characters who feel real and authentic. Meeting after a misunderstanding over a lamp, Daphne and Nina forge a friendship - both of them well drawn characters with flaws and foibles - that slowly develops into a romance. The time it takes for their friendship to evolve lets the characters grow and come to realizations on their own - and adds a nice slow burn as the reader keeps rooting for them to get together.

The story moves along at a good pace, with some good humour, fun banter and a bit of angst. Copeland's writing is smooth and easy ... you don't even notice the pages going by. Definitely recommend this one.

One Woman's Treasure was a good read and that it kept me turning the pages without wanting to take a break.

Daphne is driving around, looking for treasures when she happens upon a house where she thought, people were cleaning out. However, those boxes and items were from a moving company that dumped the new home owners possessions at the bottom of the driveway. Now Nina cannot find her grandmother's lamp. Nina files a police report and Daphne sees that part of her car and license plate are plastered all over the news stating she's a thief!

One Woman's Treasure is a look at a friendship that starts with an accidental theft. A beautifully written book about the trials and tribulations of friendship, dating, and life. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

Daphne loves antiquing and dreams of owning her own antique shop, so when she sees a priceless piece on the side of the road she doesn't hesitate to pick it up. When she sees herself on the news later, wanted by the police for stealing a family heirloom, she returns the piece to Nina and the two women become fast friends. Desire simmers beneath the surface of their friendship, but both women are hesitant to get into a relationship when their lives are in flux. Will they take a chance on love or will it be too late?

Somehow this was the first book I've read by Jean Copeland and I have no idea how that has happened! I loved the premise of this book, it was super unique and super cute. I loved all the characters, they were well developed, great personalities and warmed my heart. The chemistry between Daphne and Nina was really good, and I liked the sow burn of their relationship, although the ending seemed to rush after the rest of the book. I liked the maturity of the characters, which made the drama much more realistic but at the same time I loved that we were still able to see these two characters grow and evolve in their own right and into a beautiful partnership as well. I enjoyed the writing style a lot, it was effortless to read, and I have nice big backlist to read now.

I love romances that just don’t quite fit the mould and this is one of them. Daphne has dreams of being an antique dealer but for now she’s stuck in a cubicle as an airline customer careline operator. Her ex-wife has remarried with great fanfare but Daphne has her best friend next door, 80-year-old Sophie. On a morning tour of her neighbourhood looking for antiques that are being discarded with the trash, she comes across an antique tiffany lamp. It’s not until she sees her car splashed all over the news that she realizes that her find was being moved into a house, not out. Fortunately Nina is so pleased to have her lamp returned that a friendship is formed. Nina is also nursing a broken heart as well as celebrating her newfound freedom in her realization that she’s a lesbian.

The story has a gentle pace (it is a slow-burn romance) but loads of suspense and tension between Daphne and Nina. I loved the dialogue and really enjoyed Daphne’s journey to courage. I wasn’t always thrilled with Nina’s choices but part of the fun of a novel is being engaged enough to want to yell at the characters. There was a moment where I thought the story was over and couldn’t understand why I still had so much to read. Initially it felt like overkill but by the end I realized it was a good choice.

I found Daphne really easy to relate to and it made for a wonderful read.

Thank You NetGalley/Publisher & Author for this gifted eARC

After Daphne accidentally “steals” a family heirloom from Nina’s front lawn thinking it’s junk left for trash pickup, she learns she’s wanted by the police for questioning. Once the dust settles, Daphne and Nina form a friendship inspired by their mutual love for antiquing and a desire for a fresh start in their lives.
As they grow closer, their attraction moves way beyond friends. But who will be brave enough to confess her feelings first? Daphne, the self-conscious procrastinator who’s working hard to get her new business off the ground, or Nina, the newly-out mom whose priority is creating a stable life for her son? Before they can take a chance on becoming lovers, they’ll have to decide if love is worth the risk.

I enjoyed this book very much!
It was very unique something different for sure.
This felt more of a slow-burn read for me.
The characters were very likable.
It was a fast-paced read, which I loved.

Overall it was a great Summer Read for sure.

A slow burn meet-cute. If accidentally stealing an heirloom piece can be categorized as a meet-cute,

Daphne is still not over being dumped by her ex-wife, who found religion in being thin and a social media star. She is stuck in a dead-end job, dreaming of opening her own antique store.

She finds an antique piece on the street which she assumes is left for garbage pickup. Only it is an heirloom antique piece Nina got from her grandmother and was set outside while she's moving in. Daphne returns to the piece and they bound over their love for antiques.

They start a friendship, but Daphne is attracted to recently divorced Nina from the start.

It's a nice slow romance read.

First I have to start off by saying that this book is one of my favorites. What I would call a gentle romance.
Nina Colombo’s life was changing but for the better. She has finally decided that staying in a marriage with a man she didn’t love was too much for her. She fell in love with a co-worker, a female co-worker. This wasn’t the first time she found herself attracted to another woman but it’s the first time she’s fallen in love. She’s a successful business executive and the proud mother of 10 yr old Noah. Lacey, the woman she’d fallen in love with wasn’t that patient waiting for Nina to finally end her marriage so by the time Nina made her move forward Lacey wasn’t in the picture, even though that’s exactly what Nina wanted. So she packs her bags, along with Noahs and moves into a new home. Moving wasn’t that easy especially since all of the shared friends she had with her husband were not that friendly with her. Oh well, making new friends shouldn’t be that difficult, right. The first friend she makes is also the woman who stole a lamp from her.
Daphne Carsen is having a hard time accepting the fact that her wife actually left her. Just because Ann Marie, who now wanted to be called Savannah lost some weight with the help of a surgeon. She even married the Doctor who did her surgery. And Daphne did one of the worst things she could do to herself, she crashed their wedding. Thank God when Ann Marie left it gave Daphne the chance to get closer to her 80 yr old neighbor, Sophie. It also gave her more time to work on her dream of owning and operating a store for selling all the treasures she finds on her weekly trips around the small towns found in her New Haven Community. On one of these treasure hunts she finds a lamp that she knows has to be worth a few dollars. Little did she know the lamp she’s found is actually not trash but a treasured family heirloom.
What a wonderful read. Ms Copeland fills this nicely paced story with some really good, fun dialogue. A complete pleasure to read. Very, very much enjoyed.

Jean Copeland is a national treasure! This book brought me more enjoyment than anything I’ve read all year long. Nina and Daphne are so adorable. If I didn’t already have a fantastic wife, I’d be out looking for a Daphne. Read this book. Don’t wait.

That piece of scrap just became someone’s treasure.

Mistaking Nina’s prized lamp left on her driveway as scrap, Daphne took off with her finding until she found herself in the news for apparent theft. After resolving the issue and returning the lamp, a shared love of antiques connected them and they became fast friends.

Unbeknownst to Nina, who just came to terms with her sexuality, Daphne was attracted to Nina but lacked the confidence to pursue anything deeper and instead settled for a platonic relationship. Still suffering from a lack of confidence when her ex wife walked out on her, Daphne’s lack of self esteem was staggering and detrimental even when their chemistry was booming.

Nina, who had an affair with a woman, Lacey, left her husband and when Lacey reappeared in her life, took on a chance even when she had lingering thoughts about Daphne. Both Nina and Daphne were aware of their feelings towards each other but settled for sensibility for fear of losing the other.

A woman abandoned and cast away like scrap, Daphne was very much a woman in progress, and you cannot help but feel sorry for her inferiority complex and wish she could raise above her insecurities. When Nina came into her life, it was gratifying to see Daphne slowly come to her own and fight for what she deserves. If you are looking for a happy ever after ending - what is scrap to one, is treasure for another.

I just reviewed One Woman's Treasure by Jean Copeland. #NetGalley

This was exactly the book I needed this week. Jean Copeland is one of my favorite people to follow on social media. She is so funny, and it really comes across in this story. MC Daphne is a mess: she's spent her entire adult life with her high school sweetheart, only to be dumped for the surgeon who helped her achieve fame through weight loss. She hates her job, she's awkward, but she loves antiquing and has a dream to open her own shop. Her best friend is her 80-year-old neighbor. Daphne meets Nina, a mom who is recently divorced after a life-changing affair with a woman. They meet and become instant best friends.... until there's something more. Daphne and Nina both have exes from hell, and their romance is super slow burn. There's plenty of angst and other side stories that make this a really fast five-hour read.

For me this is five full stars. I thought the ending (even without an epilogue) was perfect and the pacing throughout was spot on. Very very satisfying.

I liked this book. It was a steady read with a slow build up. I liked both main characters - Daphne reminded me a lot of me and gave me hope I can find my own happy ever after! Nina was considerate , caring and strong. I thought the characters went well together

I loved Sophie - I cried when she couldn’t come to the grand opening ! Didn’t much like her son but he redeemed himself at the end!

A lovely story about 2 friends encouraging each other to be the best they can be! My only gripe was the ending which felt a little rushed. I think because the characters had spent so long getting together (which I loved) the end appeared out of synch.

3.75 Stars. This was a good read. In fact this is right up there with The Ashford Place as being my favorite Copeland books. While I did really like this, I am a teeny bit disappointed. To me this book could have been fan-bloody-tastic, there was so much I loved here but it fizzled out some at the end.

This was an interesting romance and not really the norm which I believe is why I liked it so much. The characters take a long time to get together. This is a best friend to lovers romance. It was actually pretty angsty, but the angst wasn’t in your face. The angst was low-key but more constant if that makes any sense. I liked that difference quite a bit. I do need to mention that there is some cheating stuff in here. I would not consider it heavy cheating (I can’t say anything more for spoiler reasons) but it is a part of the story.

I was really happy with the main character of Daphne. I loved that she was a flawed character and not some Hollywood cutout. She was clumsy, had anxiety, and very low self-esteem. There were multiple times I wanted to shake some sense into her but I grew to love her character, faults and all. I had some mixed feelings about Nina. I thought she crossed the line a bit in some of the things she just did for Daphne, her being pushy, but she was the type of person Daphne needed. Daphne’s growth was tied to her friendship with Nina so that they made a really strong couple.

I was happy with the feel of the story and the nice pace that kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed watching the chemistry build and build between the mains and I was really enjoying Daphne’s character. So much good here but the problem was the ending was a let-down. Something huge happens to Nina, something that affects both mains, but we don’t get to see it. We are just told it happened. That was a real head scratcher since that would have been some major drama. Shortly after that, the characters are Uhauling and then everything possible to make the happiest HEA is loaded into just a few pages at the end. My head was actually spinning. It felt like Copeland just got sick of the story so she fast-forwarded possibly months of content into a few pages. I’m going to start calling this problem “insta-HEA”. I hate this rushed ending issue and especially here when the book was so good until it happened.

Even with my disappointment, I still would recommend this one. I really liked 90% of the book and I expect others will too. Copeland seems to have found her writing groove and it makes me excited to see what she will write next. I’m just hoping she doesn’t write any more insta-HEA.

At the start of this book I loved it. Slightly socially awkward girl steals a lamp from the front yard of a newly divorced mother who's moving in and upon returning the stolen object they forge a friendship. Both characters were likeable, there were well flushed out supporting characters and the slow burn romance worked for me. Unfortunately in the end it felt rushed, all of a sudden it was like: you know the roadblock that stopped our friendship from going further was removed a couple of weeks ago and here is the happy ending. Almost as if the writer discovered she was about to go over her word limit or something. Still a solid 4 star book but it could have been more.

An enjoyable read for a rainy day.

Daphne is not over her divorce when she crashes her ex’s wedding, the crashing does help her move on. Daphne dreams of opening an antiques store, she finds treasures on the curb side when it is trash day. When she mistakes Nina’s moving in stack as trash she takes a lamp that has a lot of sentimental value. With some pressure of Daphne’s elderly the shy woman goes to the police station to return the lamp. She meets Nina there and stumbles through their first meeting. With the not so subtle encouragement of Sophie Daphne give her number to Nina. Nina is grateful Daphne was honest and returned her lamp. She decides to thank her profusely and she takes Daphne up on the offer of antiquing together. The ladies become fast friends, they don’t want to complicate or jeopardise their friendship by acting on their feelings. With the support and guidance of the very business savvy Nina Daphne finally takes steps to realise her dream of her own antiques store. Both women date other ladies, I particularly dislike the woman Nina dates. She is very demanding, unrealistic and maybe even just an ass. She played an important role in Nina’s life when she discovered she was actually a lesbian while in a marriage with a man and a kid. But the expectations she sets are just outrages. The friendship between Daphne and Nina evolves and you keep hoping they will find each other.

I liked the slow burn of this story. It’s not one of the standard dance around each for no apparent reason slow burns, more practical, age appropriate approach. Minor downsides on the story for me were the appearance of random facts and the time jumps. The time jumps mostly were irritating for me because you’d be half way into a new chapter only to find out it’s weeks later. So first you’re confused because so much happened in a day and then surprise it’s 3 weeks later. I did like both main characters, Daphne has all these quirks and Nina is a strong and focussed business woman with a gentle heart. They fit well together, both as friends and as a couple. There are some aspects of the story that weren’t for me, but overal it was nice.

Daphne Carsen, recently divorced from
Ann Marie Cronk (aka Savannah Locke), who recently married to
Francesca
Nina Columbo, recently divorced from her husband and recently broken up from Lacey (whom you will love to dislike a lot.)

This is Jean Copeland at her magical best. She tells the story of Daphne Carsen who recently divorced her wife who calls herself Savannah (once named Ann Marie Cronk), who became snooty and narcissistic after becoming an internet influencer, and the story of Nina Colombo, recently divorced from her husband, Zack. Nina has a ten year old son, Noah. Nina had an affair with a woman, Lacey, but Lacey wasn't willing to wait for Nina to divorce Zack.

Daphne and Nina meet in the strangest and funniest of circumstances and things take off from there. And then they stop. And then they start again. And stop and then, well you get the drift. And Daphne and Nina continue deny the feelings they're feeling as anything other than those of friends. This is as realistic as any story anyone has ever read - or lived through. These things happen to real people.

This is an angsty story, but not too angsty. It's sweet without giving you cavities. It was a pleasure to read.

Every time I read a Jean Copeland book, she moves up the ladder on my list of favorite authors. She's really near the top (relative to every author on earth who was ever born).
