4.5 High Fae Stars
this took so long to read simply because i waiting for the audio from the library and it was so long it took me two check outs / 3 months to get through this series. I plan on buying the books and reading them cover to cover in order with less of a break in between so it wont be so broken up.
I loved this story I would rate it as NA because the romance is not the forefront of this story but this huge world building event with a kiss and deep love thrown in.
I loved it but i need a reread.

I love Sarah J Maas and her books. Her writing is impeccable and the story she weaves are magical. A Court of Thorns and Roses is both romantic and action packed. Seductive and adventurous. I highly recommend to all fantasy lovers out there.

This book is one of my favorite fantasies with fae! I love the main character Feyre and how shes willing to do whatever it takes to survive and save those she loves. In this book she fights to save her family from starvation during winter after they lost their fortune years before. She “accidentally” kills a fae and has to face the consequences. She is forced to live out her days in the fae lands due to a treaty between the fae and humans. While there she learns of threats to the humans and fae alike and has to do whatever it takes to save them!

I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for a review. My thoughts on this book are below.
This book is basically a retelling of The Beauty and the Beast but with a dash of fae. I enjoyed most of it.
The writing was beautiful. The characters were flawless, literally. The main character was interesting and had depth. Her love interest was interesting and believable. The plot was full of twists and turns. The ending was solid.
Yet something was missing. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but something was missing.
And I have to nitpick on something, something that drove me nuts. How can the two main characters kiss if one of them has a mask on??? Maybe I missed the explanation, maybe some magic had something to do with it, but either way it still drove me nuts.
And am I wrong for loving Rhys more than Tamien? Am I the only one?
Overall, I would highly recommend this book. Not only is the world building beautiful and the characters well thought out, it was a fun and engaging read. I enjoyed it but I’m not sure if I wanna read the second book.

I really enjoyed this novel! This is actually the first Sarah J Maas book that I’ve read and I really enjoyed it! The characters are interesting and I was drawn in by the plot and the world. This is my first novel about Fae as well so I felt like I had a bit of catching up to do but the world building was well done and I enjoyed this read! This was a quick and easy read and I’m looking forward to seeing where the series goes!

Amazing read! I grabbed a copy of this and after reading I’m pretty sure this was my second time reading it. This is a huge author and a master storyteller!
What did I like? I like a story that can really grab you and suck you in. This one definitely delivered! The mighty Fae and a terrible blight take their toll on fragile human Feyre. Can one tiny human save the fae race? Can love conquer everything!
Recommend or buy? I’m pretty sure thousands of people already own this series just going by the 36k reviews already. Master storytelling!
Thoughts for the author? Beautiful story will definitely keep reading!

** I relieved a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
A Court of Thorns and Roses is the first book in a trilogy (....or is it?) by Sarah J Maas. It has a few elements from other fairytales with Beauty and the Beast being the prime influence. I loved Throne of Glass, so was pretty excited to read this. The main character Feyre is the youngest of three sisters, living with their often absent father. They have fallen on hard times and Feyre as the youngest is more adaptable to the change in lifestyle. She learns how to hunt, forage, and bargain for food and resources to keep the family fed. When she is out hunting one day she catches sight of a giant wolf, and part of her knows that this animal is of the Fae realm that lay close to where she hunts, she can't pass up the opportunity that the animal could bring her if she were to kill it. Killing the wolf is not without consequence, and Feyre ends up being taken back to the magical lands were the Fae live. Learning to accept her fate as a resident of the court, she was raised to hate and fear.
This book has so much story happening. I feel like I was overloaded with information. I enjoyed the story a lot though and particularly loved the Suriel. I love a good faery story where the creatures are dangerous, and making bargains is done with care. The characters were interesting and the setup to the main story was done well. I was NOT expecting the ending. I definitely enjoyed reading this book.

After hearing so many positive recommendations about books written by Sarah J. Maas, I was excited when this one fell into my lap (courtesy of NetGalley). And I must admit that I had a hard time putting it down. Interesting story in a sort of "Beauty and the Beast" kind of way with a few twists. But as interesting as the story was, I have to admit that I didn't particularly care for the characters. I found myself more than once getting irritated with Feyre being so clueless when she totally ignored advice time and time again.
I may not read any other books in this particular series, but I truly enjoyed the writing ability of this author. Saying that, I'm sure I will give one of her other series a try.
Note: Not sure if this is truly "Young Adult", so parents may want to check it out before your preteen picks it up.

I liked it. I did not love it. It honestly had almost all the elements of a book I would love, but they did not fully come together for me. Am I interested enough to read the next book? Absolutely. For sure. Probably not right away though because apparently Sarah J. Maas has a George RR Martin level of sequels that have not been completed, but they are on my TBR nonetheless.
The first half of this book was honestly almost insufferable for me. I was hating it. I was getting ready to write an epic rant about this book. Then, about halfway, this all changed. I stayed up way too late reading it for a mom of 10-month old twins who needs to sleep. Sleep is precious right now! For me to ignore it for a story says a lot. I went from angry but invested to intrigued and invested.
This book was not a perfect read, but I get the hype. I really do.

I love this book!!!
It is a great, fast paced, engaging fantasy world. Feyre is such a fun protagonist you can easily identify with. Could not put down read.

Sarah J. Maas is a masterful storyteller. I have been meaning to read this book, and I am mad at myself that it has taken me so long to dive into the ACOTAR world. This spin on the Beauty and the Beast tale is innovative and thoroughly engaging. I immediately went on to the next book. A must-read series!
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

I don't even know where to begin reviewing this I am still so blown away.
Safe to say I loved litreally everything about this - it was such a well written and thought out story. I thought the beauty & the beast retelling was so well done and Sarah J Maas's writing style is so easy to read and everything is so well described that it litreally comes to life.
I loved loved loved the characters in this and absolutely adore Feyre & Tamlins relationship. I honestly can't fault it. (Apart from maybe Feyre's inability to listen, that got a bit frustrating at times, but every character has to have a downfall I guess)
I can't wait to read the next installment, then the next, then the next.

For a book that started so slowly I almost gave up just a few chapters in. I checked the synopsis, wondering what I had chosen to read and ploughed on wit the thought of how was this anything like Beauty & the Beast. As I continued with Feyre and Tam and their journey together I fell deeply into this book and fell in love with their love story.
The drama, the tense will they / wont they and riskiness of life or death scenario all rolled in to one story was a beautiful story. I can honestly say I became hooked and chose not to do anything until I had read the last word of this roller-coaster experience for Feyre.
And to my delight.... this is just the first in a series, I'm off to read the rest!

Sarah J. Maas is so talented. I loved this take on a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but with some unexpected twists and sexy turns. I love her writing style and how easy it is to fall into Freya's world. I think this will be a lasting series renowned by teens for years to come.

This book reminded me why I love to read and introduced me to a before unknown to me genre - YA Fantasy. It is now one of my favorite genres to read. I love that Feyre and Tamlin's relationship seems like #goals until retrospection - it just goes to show that sometimes we don't realize what we're in until we're out of it or we have a reference for comparison. There is the perfect amount of mystery, suspense, action, and romance. I found the book to be completely unputdownable and am so happy to live in a world where the sequel now exists and I can carry on in it. I also appreciate how the book loses none of its spark upon reread - if anything, every time I read it I learn something new that adds to the overall experience. 5 out of 5 wine glasses.

I finished this book in on sitting. I loved the beauty and beast vibes! And throughly enjoyed the writers style this was my first time reading anything by this author and it won’t be my last.

I absolutely love Sarah Maas's writing style and A Court of Thorns and Roses. I think at this point, I'll read anything she writes. At first it reminded me of Beauty and the Beast (and I'm a sucker for fairy tale retelling), however I found this to be a lot fiercer and tastefully sexy. I was hooked and finished it in one sitting which is always (ALWAYS) a good sign for me. I then read it a second time a bit slower. The unfairness of Feyre's world, how she's treated by her family, then by the fae, it's just a truly magical story that is written so vividly, I forgot where I was. Feyre's someone I'd definitely like in my corner (although her older sister is a serious contender) and Rhysand versus Tamlin...oh boy... I had so much fun reading this book -- and it reminded me of one of my favorite authors (Robin McKinely), yet with a harsher vibe and characters that are not always easy to like, which is something I appreciate. #ACourtofThornsandRoses #NetGalley

I have this series in multiple covers and love this cover
feyre is a wonderful heroine
great retelling of beauty and the beast

This book is so amazing! I've read the series countless times but I can't get enough it. I love the new covers the publisher has come out with as well.

This new cover is really intriguing. I love the design and uniqueness of them. This book is the first in a series. This book is different than the rest of the series however.
I loved that this book was a Beauty and the Beast retelling. The characters are memorable and the plot is really interesting. If you read this book, you will absolutely binge the entire series.
