This is a wild ride of a book. A very funny and dark culty story that had me on my toes and second guessing everything. At first I found the vernacular of the Bunnies difficult to grasp but eventually got into it. This would make a great TV series

I am going to be honest and say that I am not entirely sure what I just read, but I loved every single second of it. When I first heard of this book, it was described as horror comedy, which I do semi-agree with, but at the same time Bunny does not quite fit into those either. It has cult like behavior, that is odd and uncomfortable, but not quit scary. There is magic like science that is so incredibly interesting and that I have never really seen anything similar. It is a weird book where the writing style grabs you immediately even though you might be disoriented throughout the story. I loved this book and have already recommended it to a lot of people who I know love weird books and books where you can not name a single book that has a similar plot line. I will continue to recommend this book to anyone I know who wants something they have never experienced before.

**I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
At times very dark and twisted, this novel is a hard one to review. The feelings of loneliness play a vital role in the novel, yet at times the grotesqueness of a situation is almost too hard to read. Ultimately, though, Awad’s narrative is compelling and kept me reading. Those who enjoy 1980s horror films may appreciate this one, as the tone seems at times campy in its horror, but there are still the magical elements that make the reader suspend belief. A perfect allegory to the writing process, and I kept thinking of the advice given by so many authors – “kill your darlings.” While it’s hard to say I “liked” this book, I stayed riveted to the narrative and read this in just two days.
Warning: you may never look at a bunny the same way again.

Bunny was honestly the most weird and bizarre book I ever read. While reading this I had no idea of what was going on,
The writing style is very unique, but the whole time I was having trouble to understand some of it. The ideas behind this book feels like a mix of Mean Girls and Frankestein, but overall I really enjoyed it.

Samantha Heather Mackey couldn’t be more of an outsider in her small, highly selective MFA program at New England’s Warren University. She is utterly repelled by the rest of her fiction writing cohort - a clique of unbearably twee rich girls who call each other “Bunny”. But everything changes when Samantha receives an invitation to the Bunnies’ fabled “Smut Salon”...

Wickedly funny and deliciously dark, Bunny is a messed up fever dream that I did not want to wake up from!!

It’s best to know as little as possible before starting this one. I really had no clue what was coming, and it was a helluva ride! It gets very dark and pretty brutal at times, there are some violent scenes. However, this contrasts nicely with Awad’s often hilarious writing and the saccharine characters in their beautifully patterned dresses and heart-shaped sunglasses.

There’s lots of “what the fuck just happened” moments and at times when I think back over it, I’m still unsure exactly what was going on at points. This would certainly benefit from a reread in the future! However, Bunny lives up to its reputation of a book described as “The Heathers meets The Craft” - I truly can’t come up with a better selling point than that! I’ve also seen it described as “The Secret History meets Jennifer’s Body”, which also seems absolutely perfect!

Set at an Ivy League university in New England, this ticks a number of boxes in terms of location for me. It’s a book that also seemingly pokes fun at prestigious MFA programs and I feel like Awad has a lot of fun with that!

It won’t be a hit for everyone, but I’m a tad obsessed with this book and would recommend giving it a shot if it appeals to you in any way! One of the most unique and enjoyable books I’ve read this year. 4.5 stars.

Such a strange and dark story that I found myself totally enthralled in (even when I wasn't sure if I was completely "getting" it). Lots of elements I really enjoy: unreliable narrator, bad bad girl power, private school setting. This book is a trip.
