The story of Frida is something we know well. Most of us do, and the fact that the Author wasn’t afraid of telling it again told me there could be something else about this book. And it’s that it’s told in such a personal and enjoyable way, that makes you remember why we admire Frida so much, why we love her, why she was such a powerful woman... It gives us relevant moments in Frida’s life, and it helps us remember why, still now, the whole world knows her and talks about her. Because she’s an example of a great woman, the perfect representation of strong, passionate and brave.
This book was like going back to an old friend’s, and listening to the story you never get tired of, because it has a special narrative that makes it lovable. This book reminds me that life is beautiful and we are too, and flaws makes us what we are. And tragedy also builds our humanity and makes us give the best of us.
I really recommend this book to anyone that want to know about Frida, or want to remember her. It’s a contemporary guide to life, as the synopsis says. And I couldn’t find a better way to put it. It explores her life as a woman that loved with passion, lived boldly and keeps inspiring people around the world. She refused to remain in other people’s shadows because her light was so bright it had to be known. I feel so proud as a Latina, as a woman, reading this book. It honestly makes me want to live more and learn from pain and happiness. And the Author did a great job conjuring Frida’s spirit, celebrated her braveness and the things she could’ve been judged for. Her life was relevant. And still is.
This is such a great book about a person that will be forever alive. This, without a doubt, what the title says: A guide to living boldly, because after reading this I feel so encouraged to live.
