A Design to Die For by Kathleen Bridge is book five in the Hamptons and Garden Mysteries. This was the first in the series for me but I was able to get current quickly.
Since I am a fan of design shows, I enjoyed this book. It has a great setting and Ms. Bridge makes you feel as if are there. I also liked the characters and their interactions. There were enough suspects to keep you guessing who was guilty. You also get a hint of romance.
I look forward to reading the next in the series.
I was given an ARC by the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.

A Design by Kathleen Bridge is the 5th book in the Hamptons Home and Garden Mystery series, and I am excited to see this series continue. Meg Barrett is a decorator, and she is excited by Montauk's first annual Designer Showhouse. Meg knows the showhouse was meant to be a collaborative event, instead designers are trying to ruin each other projects . When one of the Showhouse owners is found murdered, Meg becomes the prime suspect. On top of that, ghost hunters are roaming around the house too. I really enjoyed this book, I felt I was right there with them. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a good mystery.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This latest book in the Hamptons series, Meg Barrett is involved in a decorator's showhouse. The murder didn't show up until a third of the way through the book. I was starting to thinking I wasn't reading a mystery but instead a soap opera. Perhaps some of the issue was regional, although I read books set all over the country with no issue. The people in the book just all seemed unpleasant. Even the main character was mean-spirited at times. I simply did not like her. There a lot of snobbish talk and societal layers that made it uncomfortable. There was really very little actually action as the majority of writing was made up of descriptions of people's houses, or the Hamptons or their clothes, etc. It became tedious at points. There was a lot of literary quotes thrown in and history points that were used to increase word count. But as to the resolution of the murder that even seemed to be just by chance since there was no real clues leading up to it.

This is the 5th book in the series, but the first I have read. I did read this as a standalone but I'm going to go back and read the previous books. The dynamics between the characters are intriguing the characters themselves are interesting. This is a well crafted cozy with a gorgeous setting and I'm happy to have read it.

cozy-mystery, amateur-sleuth, law-enforcement, murder-investigation, friendship

Meg seems to have been involved in a local murder or two before, enough to have irritated the local law. It's a good thing that she has a lot of friends. the first body is a really villainous person who was thought to have been threatening his rather new and wealthy wife and Meg was the one who found the body. Let the sleuthing begin. The tale is somewhat convoluted but totally reasonable and the characters really seem like people one would know. I loved it!

A great series to help me escape social isolation. This the fifth entry in this series and I have enjoyed every one of them. Best read in order to get all of Meg's backstory but this one will work as a stand alone.
Meg is a decorator, owner of Cottages By the Sea, in Montauk and lives in a six room cottage of her own. When her friend and former co-worker, Jenna, opens her 'cottage', Enderly Hall, to become a decorator showcase house for the first annual Montauk Designer Showhouse. The proceeds will go to the local fire department. Meg will be one of the decorators and there are several others but they aren't playing nice with each other and tension is high. Add to the mix, Jenna is very wealthy and newly married, to a not so rich man who wants to improve his social standing. Poor Jenna overhears a conversation he has with his former step daughter (who is also on scene as one of the decorators) that he will have control of Enderly Hall - Jenna's family home for past generations which she owns - and he will be selling it. Jenna is certain that he means to bump her off and so the mystery starts.
The mystery is complex and full of twists, turns and lots of red herrings. It had me guessing to the last chapter and I guessed wrong. For me that is the sign of a well crafted, enjoyable mystery.
My thanks to the publisher Beyond the Page and to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Meg Barrett is working on her friend’s Designer Showhouse along with several other designers and along the way finds herself embroiled in yet another murder in the Hamptons when the owner’s husband is found dead on the estate. With several suspects and one who is closest to her, Meg and her friends put on their sleuthing hats and look for a murderer to clear their friend’s name.

This is a really good series that I have enjoyed for a few years now. I was surprised by the final reveal of whodunit, and have to commend the author on a well done plot. Our heroine, Meg, is near and dear to my heart as we both suffer from hearing loss, wear hearing aids, read lips, and have compensated for one loss with our other sense being heightened. Each book is readable as a stand alone, but you’ll want to enjoy the previous books as well, so you get the benefit of four other books to enjoy while you wait for book six to come out. Perfect for your Summer reading list!

A Design To Die For is the 5th book in the Hamptons Home & Gardens Mysteries and is probably best if read in order. This is the first book by this author I have read and while I enjoyed it, it started off with a lot going on. Meg Barrett is a Decorator who is working with her friends, Elle and Jenna on Montauk's First Designer Showcase on Jenna's family home, Enderly Hall. Jenna thinks her new husband Roland is trying to kill her. The other designers are sabotaging each other. There are ghost hunters too! When one of the house owners ends up dead, Meg and Jenna are suspects. There are some twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end. This book was enjoyable and I plan to read the previous books. I was given an advance copy from NetGalley and Beyond The Page Publishing for an honest review. #NetGalley #ADesignToDieFor. #BeyondThePagePublishing

I enjoyed this addition of this book to this series written by Kathleen Bridges.
Meg is excited to be decorating a beautiful home, creating warm, cozy spaces is her speciality.
When her friend and homeowner, Jenna, tells Meg that she suspects her husband is trying to kill her, Meg accepts it as an exaggeration, thinking her friend is just overwhelmed.
Just before the big reveal, Meg finds a dead body at the bottom of a flight of stairs.
The twist? It's not Jenna!
I was totally off base with my guess, but I was very excited when I found out who did it! I did not see it coming.

I loved this latest in Kathleen Bridge's Hamptons Home & Garden Mystery series. 'A Design to Die For' has Meg involved in a Designer Showcase of her friend Jenna's historical family mansion. There is conflict, and murder ensues, with Meg as a suspect. The book takes me to a locale I have never, nor likely will ever visit, and it is delightful. The depth of the characters is fascinating, especially Meg's hearing loss. I like the direction of Meg's romance, however nothing is settled yet as she dumped several texts and voicemails from her phone. All in all this is a suspenseful, friendly story (with recipes) and I can't wait for more.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

A good cosy mystery. I don't think that I would have expected several designers each fixing up an area of a possibly important house (if they can find the deeds naming the original designer) to be plain sailing, but it's not them sabotaging one anothers' work that causes the problems. The owner of the house is convinced that her husband is trying to kill her - is he?

I enjoyed this book, the characters are fun.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I read a free advance review copy of the book. This review is voluntary, honest and my own opinion

This is 5th in the series and I really recommend reading them order to better understand the dynamics between the characters. Humour, murder, interior decorating and recipes! What more could you want in a good mystery? This story also has some ghostly activity so it kept me glued to it until the end. I had a hard time figuring out the killer this time around which is always a plus. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

Interior designer Meg Barrett and her friends Elle and Jenna are working on Jenna's inherited property to showcase their talents.
Jenna feels threatened but it's her husband who turns up dead. There's plenty of suspects, wit Jenna being the police chief's preferred. Meg's snooping brings much to light and another body rules our one of her suspects.
When she finally confronts the killer, she's saved by an unlikely savior.
Plenty of intrigue and humor run thru Ms. Bridge's creation. There's something for paranormal fans and recipes are included too.
I requested and received a NetGalley Arc to peruse and offer my opinion gratis.

4.5 stars

This is the fifth book in the Hamptons Home & Garden Mysteries by Kathleen Bridge.

Decorator Meg Barrett is designing a few rooms in a local mansion for a showcase event. And a few of the other designers are taking their own designs a bit too seriously. Then one of the owners of the home is found murdered. Don’t worry. There are tons of suspects, including a number of paranormal investigators who are casing the area and particularly this specific house for hauntings.

Surprisingly, the evidence points to Meg as the main suspect. So she is pretty motivated to clear her name. The Hampton setting makes this all the more intriguing since so many of the people here have money. I am not certain of Meg’s standing where money is concerned since this is the first book I have read in this series. But I do plan to read the others ASAP. I am totally intrigued.

I was a little up in the air about the love interests here. First she totally into one man, and when he turns up saved from a wreck kissing another woman, Meg turns to option number 2: Patrick, a popular author. That quick switch didn’t make sense to me.

Overall it was a good read and I do recommend it.

If you love a good cozy mystery, definitely check this one out. What a fun read!

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

This is the first book I have read by Kathleen Bridge. This is the 5th book in A Hamptons Home & Garden Mystery.
This was an interesting mystery with a lighthouse ghost, Captain Kidd, ancestors, and a mysterious authorial on Montauk, Long Island. Spending time by the Ocean was so nice.
Enjoyable book to read with great characters.

Thank you NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

Mystery set in the Hamptons. A design event.
Plot twist had me shaking my head trying to figure out who the murderer was.
Meg was in her element designing, she have liked it if there was less whining

This is the fifth book in the Hamptons Home & Garden mystery series, it can be read as a standalone but I have read the other books and recommend them. I won't go into the plot specifics but there were many red herrings and I did not figure out who the killer was until the end. i love to be kept guessing when reading a whodunnit. The book has great characters, I can really relate to Meg and her culinary disasters.
Kathleen Bridge writes a wonderful setting, I always emerge from the books in her Hamptons series feeling like I have spent the day by the ocean. A great book to read outside and escape from the claustrophobia of quarantine with!

A Design to Die For by Kathleen Bridge is the 5th instalment in the "Hamptons Home & Garden Mystery" series. I really enjoy this series, although this can be read as a stand-alone I do recommend you read from the beginning.

I found myself engrossed in the story, I like the setting of the Hamptons and the overall feel of the place. I really enjoy the main character of Meg, and Her bff Elle. Book 4 was the first I read in the series and I have since purchased the previous 3 books.

The mystery is interesting and well plotted, full of twists and turns as well as a few surprises. I can’t say I guessed whodunit but I was starting to lean towards them. This would make a great beach read and it includes some great recipes as well.

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends.

I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Beyond the Page Publishing and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN.
