I loved this book so much! A small town romance with a bakery and a doctor (sign me up!). This book was written so well and if the cover won't make you hungry then the story line will make you wush you were in love. Caroline Flynn really bought it with this book

This is my first go at the Port Landon novels but may not be my last. The story was sweet and fluffy, exactly what I was looking for in a summer porch read. I'm a sucker for stories that involve food so this one covered that base nicely. If you like stories by Louise Miller or Jenny Colgan, then you'll like this.

There was a line about the romantic lead's coworker in which the author described her as having mocha skin, which seemed kind of out of place given that I don't remember any other character had been described in terms of food or skin color...that gave me a bit of a weird pause...otherwise it was a nice and easy read.

Small town bakeries are my faves! This one has single dad and veterinarian Cohen coming in to satisfy his son’s sweet tooth - and finding that the chief baker has caught his eye.

Loved the charming town coming togerhrt for various reasons, the long walks around Port Landon, and the cakes. Not sure i bought the quick falling in love or the reasons for the breakup, but I totally bought the cheek to cheek dancing and the happily ever after.

This was such a sweet and light-hearted read! I loved watching Paige and Cohen fall in love (also I just love the name Paige Henley for some reason), but even more so, I loved watching Bryce, Cohen's son, fall in love with Paige. I've been reading a lot of romance about main characters who meet in their teens and early twenties and fall in love for the first time with them, but the romance is different when the characters are older and have been in love before or have children to factor into the equation. Caroline Flynn really did a great job. I was in tears (happy ones!) at the very end. Plus, I loved her description of Port Landon. I could picture Main Street and all the quaint shops perfectly.

If you're a fan of Nicholas Sparks, this book is right up your alley.

This book will suck you in, keep you captive and only release you after the last page.

I must admit the prologue had me in tears as I wondered where the book would lead but as I began to delve in further I fell completely in love with it.

The author brings the characters and all the places in the book to life, I wanted to be there, I wanted to be friends with Paige and Allison, I wanted a job in the bakery or (as a former veterinary nurse) a job in the veterinary clinic.

Everything was well described and factually correct. The little boy in this story is portrayed so well, his relationship with his father, with people around him, he’s such a character!! Even the family dog is included so well in this story, her mannerisms so accurate to her breed.

If I could have I would have devoured this book in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down and I certainly didn’t want it to end.

Yes, in some ways it may follow the general pattern of a modern romance, with perhaps some predictable parts, but in others it really doesn’t. It’s fresh and new and a lovely tale of love, loss, friendships and fresh starts.

I’m not going to give too much away just that you will fall in love with this book and everyone in it! You will feel their pain, cry with them (both happy and sad) and laugh too.

This is a fantastic story that is told well and is now one of my favourite reads!
I would recommend this to everyone and will be purchasing copies for myself and friends once it is released.

I will certainly be seeking out more from this author.

This book was adorable! It gives complete hallmark movie vibes and if you are like me and LOVE a good hallmark movie than i think you will enjoy this one. ⁣⁣
It is pretty predictable but i went into reading it thinking it would have been. It lacked something for me..i needed a bit more romance so for that it fell a bit short. But nonetheless, was a cute, easy inbetween thrillers read to cleanse my mind. ⁣exactly what i needed.⁣

An adorable, meet cute love story that can easily be a Hallmark movie. With that being said, the storyline was predictable and unrealistic at times. Cohen is an over-protective father who last his wife eight years prior. Paige is a city girl looking to start over in a small town, with her new bakery. While the premise was promising, it did lack a certain appeal for romance readers.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. I am all for a woman rebuilding her life by moving to a small town to start a bakery and also falling for the handsome, lonely veterinarian and his adorable son. However, things got a bit too repetitive with Paige constantly wondering about whether she was ready for a romance and Cohen wondering if he was ready for romance, having mourned the death of his beloved wife for 8 years. Then, they’d all wonder the same things a few chapters later.

Also, I kept wondering how Paige was single handedly baking all the goodies we’re constantly being told she’s selling in her bakery. It would take hours and hours and she’d need to be getting up in the early morning every day to fully stock her shelves every single day. I just didn’t buy it. And I didn’t buy that this small town had enough customers to keep her bakery slammed with business and his vet clinic also slammed. It’s as if the people in this town do nothing but eat sweets and take their pets to the vet. And they gossip as we’re also told over and over.

And there were a few editing mistakes as the author seemed to lose track of what she’d written earlier. For example, we’re told that Cohen is exhausted one day because his vet tech, Rhonda, had called in sick and he was doing everything himself. Then, the next page, Rhonda is there as if she’d been at work all along. Or we’re told that a friend drives Cohen’s son to the school in a neighboring town every day and then we’re told later on that the kid is walking to school.

These aren’t important breaks in the storytelling, but it was irritating. Add in the predictability and repetition and the book just seemed rather meh. The 10-year old son, Bryce, was unbelievably cute and mature, but I just couldn’t believe that any 10-year old would come out with some of the things he was saying.

A predictable meet cute set in a nice town with nice people. Paige leaves NYC to open a bakery in small town Port Landon and falls for the local vet. They slowly realize they have feelings for each other but when Paige accuses the vet's son of stealing baked goods from her, things go sideways. A cute story.

This book revolves around Paige. Paige has always wanted to own her own bakery and finally takes the plunge moving from big town to small town in this romantic novel. Of course we need a romantic interest and insert Cohen Beckett. Cohen is falling for Paige but through this book you see how his past has tainted his view and hope of love.
This book is a sweet little love story. Predictable? yes but i think any of these types of books are. The characters are easy to like and it's easy to imagine the small town of Port Landon. The book though you know whats going to happen has a nice flow that gives you those feel good feelings. So nothing amazing, a cute little predictable read that I enjoyed but would also be fine if i didn't read either. Thank you Netgalley for the advanced copy.

This was a super sweet romance. A very easy read. It was enjoyable and very light. Wish I lived in the town with that bakery that’s for sure. The characters were all well written and the story moved at a slow easy pace with very little jeopardy.

I requested to read this book because the bakery premise sounded interesting to this food-loving person. I found the story of Paige (a New Yorker who moves to a small town in Michigan to open her own bakery) and Cohen (a single dad veterinarian) to be very sweet, although a bit cheesy and over-the-top at times, especially in the last few chapters. The one thing that really bugged me was how often the two main characters' names were used. I don't know anyone in real life who uses another person's name so often in conversation. But that's a small/inconsequential complaint. If you like romance novels, the charm of small town life, and baked goods, then this a book you'll enjoy.

A wonderful heart felt book that I read in one sitting. Paige, Cohen, Bryce, Jazz and not forgetting Norman, the cat. Endearing characters that sparkled from the tragedy of the first chapter right up to, and including, the beautifully crafted ending ( I loved that Bryce cake twist, very clever).
It takes time to develop such a strong writing style as Flynn has managed and I'm still astounded that this is her debut. It will do well!
