The Escape is the first in a new series about US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn. They are on a prison transport when their plane goes down in the Salmon-Challis National Forest which turns in to a manhunt for the escaped prisoner. As a side story Madison has a stalker back home who is growing braver in the incidents with Madison. I thought this was a well researched book on what it would be like to be a US Marshall and the methods they would use on a manhunt. It is a fast paced story with plenty of action, Madison seems to be a strong female character but she's always being rescued by Jonas. As this is the first book in the series I will be interested to see how the second one plays out.

It’s always a pleasure to read a book by Lisa Harris. This book, the first in a new series, is an amazing, suspenseful story that makes it a very hard book to stop reading. I loved the setting of this story and how that added its own suspenseful element to the storyline. I liked the main characters and their personalities drew me further into the story. The convict is cunning, and added much to the suspense from one page to the next. I’m glad to have this one on my Christian fiction shelf, and already looking forward to the next book in the series. If you love reading Christian suspense, you won’t want to miss this one!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are called on to transport two prisoners across the country on a private plane. This is what happens when the plane crashes and the prisoner escapes before you regain consciousness. First... you are thankful he didn't kill you, Second... you start the chase. Action, danger and the escaped prisoner with nothing to lose! This was one that was hard to put down.

“This had become a game of cat and mouse. Chasing the fugitive who had managed to stay a step ahead of them so far. Anticipating his next move was the only way of winning.”

The Escape is a definite page turner! You will want to clear your schedule for this one....I mean after all, the dishes and other chores can wait, right? Lisa Harris is one of those suspense writers that will draw you in hook, line & sinker.

What should have been a routine prisoner transport turns into a nightmare for US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn when their airplane crashes in the middle of a National Forest in Idaho. The surviving convict uses this as his escape route thus causing these two Marshals to go on a wild goose chase, somehow staying one step ahead of the game.

Intense is how I would describe this! Heart-pounding action, breathless anticipation for what will happen next, and edge-of-your-seat thrills would be other adjectives I would use to tell someone about this book. So many unexpected things happen and the story just kept getting better and better. I also loved that the romance never took precedence, but you know it's there under the surface somewhere promising the reader a future for Madison & Jonas. This was ALL about the suspense for me, watching these two work together to capture their escapee was pure magic. And then Harris teases you with the next book at the end, making you WANT to read it even before it's written!

A true treat for inspirational romantic suspense fans!

The Escape by Lisa Harris is a riveting book that will keep your focus from the very start. What happens when a US Marshals transport of prisoners ends in a plane crash? Mayhem ensues with the escape that results. Ms Harris is a master storyteller and this book is filled with danger at every turn. I cannot wait to read the sequel— I’m sure it will be amazing after reading this book. Readers of suspense will adore this book. Non-stop action as two US Marshals seek to recapture an escaped prisoner. After five years, US Marshal Madison James is still searching for the person who murdered her husband, while each year a black rose is left on his grave stone. Someone is taunting her, but who and why? Madison has been assigned a case with US Marshal Jonas Quinn who she remembers from her training. While transporting two criminals to Colorado the plane crashes, killing the pilots and the other prisoner. The remaining prisoner is on the run as the marshal’s use all resources to track him down. They will have to scramble, at times, to keep up with him as he seems to have someone helping him along the way. Will they be able to stop him before he kills again? Well written and hard to put down. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

This was a really good read! This is the story of US Marshalls Madison & Jonas who were partnered to transport prisoners to another state but ended up in a plane crash en route. Jonas and Madison survives along with one of the prisoner. This book details the journey of Jonas and Madison trying to capture that prisoner. It was quite the thrilling ride. The faith aspect of the book was very subtle but it was a clean read nonetheless. Their was more of a buildup to the romance instead of the romance itself. The story sorta ended with a cliffhanger. There was another mystery that wasn’t resolved. I was surprised to learn at the end that the story continues in the next book of the series. Can’t wait to read that!

I loved this book! It was a quick read because it sucked you in from the beginning and didn't stop. You get hooked in because the plot was written so well and Madison and Jonas are great lead characters. This definitely isn't the end for Madison's story so I am looking forward to the next installment.

I will admit that when I first started reading this book, all I could think about was the movie "The Fugitive" and the finding of a runaway prisoner. But once you get past the initial plane crash, it becomes a story of tracking a person through numerous lies of everyone connected to the fugitive.

The main characters have enough flaws between them, to make them likeable and believable, and leave you wanting additional books in a series from them.

Whilst occasional plot points seemed to be condensed to save too much exposition, this works better than some authors who would describe every action to the infinitesimal detail that makes a story hard to read.

A very good book by an author I haven't read before, but will keep an eye out for any future installments.

I was provided an ARC by NetGalley in return for an honest review

The Escape by Lisa Harris is the first book in her US Marshals series and feels more like a movie than a book with the fast-paced action. US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn transport prisoners as a routine part of their jobs, but a plane crash transforms their mission into a hunt for an escaped prisoner who will do anything for his freedom. Harris foreshadows a budding romance between the two main characters but also alludes to a much more complex story involving the murder of Madison's 1st husband five years ago and the killer is still on the loose tormenting Madison. That story is what I am looking for to in the next book or later on in the series, but until then, I will content myself with this edge of your seat thriller.

When Madison and Jonas wake up from a plane crash, they find that one of the prisoners they were transporting is dead and the other is missing. They must find their way out of the Forest they crashed in to find the escaped prisoner and to save their own lives as well. This book really kept you guessing what was going happen next and what the Marshals would run into next as they pursued the murderer.

I received a copy of the book, the review is mine.

Lisa Harris is one of my go-to authors for suspense fiction. Her latest novel, The Escape, takes it up a notch with non-stop action and twists and turns galore. The main characters are also very relatable, even as I would definitely not want their jobs! 😉 A great beginning to a new series — I can’t wait to read more.

US Marshalls Madison James and Jonas Quinn are tasked with the transport of some dangerous prisoners. All would probably have gone by the numbers if it hadn’t been for a storm and a plane crash. Oh, yes, The Escape provides some adrenaline-charged action As they track the bad guy, all of their training is put to the test. Fascinating details about the Marshall service are included naturally within the narrative making this novel feel very real. The two main characters are well-developed with back stories that impact their outlook on life, as well as how they handle their jobs. I loved their very, very real struggles. I became very engaged with them, as well as the engrossing plot. I never knew what was coming next! There is a hint of future romance for the upcoming books, but in The Escape, the job comes first. This just increased the book’s credibility.

For those who like page-turners, then The Escape is a great choice. It was unputdownable!

Wow. This was a pretty intense read, especially about a prisoner escapee who really has nothing to lose. Which makes him very dangerous to everyone who comes in contact with him.

There is a lot going for this story: a plane crash, a desperate hunt, and in the background a very interesting story arc is taking place. Madison and Jonas are two US Marshalls who have been tasked with transporting two prisoners. However, that trip does not go as planned and not only are Madison and Jonas in danger, but so are a whole host of people. This story had just the right atmosphere of suspense and surprise.

Madison is still grieving for her husband who had been murdered five years previous. The killer was never caught. Who are they and where are they are some pretty big questions that Madison and me as a reader was asking. I think I might have been asking it more, as Madison, understandably was trying to move on with her life. But I think these questions are too big to be ignored and his killer needs to be caught.

This is the beginning of a series and not everything was neatly wrapped up. Jonas is interested in a relationship with Madison, and Madison really, really needs her questions answered. Especially after the explosive climax. I am looking forward to continuing their story. I am glad they are getting more page time.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

This is an action packed story from the beginning to the end! Madison James is a US Marshal, one of two, who are given the job of transporting two dangerous criminals across the country on a small airplane.
Of course, because this is a mystery story, the plane crashes and one of their prisoners escapes. This is the story of their chase.
Madison and Jonas (the other Marshal) have to dig deep and utilize all their resources to keep as many people alive as possible, as they chase down this bad guy. But catching him is definitely no easy feat!
There are many twists and turns. Chases, almost captures, more escaping in the nick of time.
I loved the reading of this story and all the thrills that went with it!
If you enjoy mystery and suspense, you won't want to miss it!

An exciting start to a new series featuring U.S. marshals!

"What happens when no matter what you do, you can't fix things?"

This action-packed story grew in intensity as the team closed in on their chase of a dangerous criminal, who seemed to stay one step ahead the whole way. The tough, independent characters warmed up as they revealed their backstories--one with an unsolved murder--and learned to trust each other, growing a friendship that hinted at possibly becoming more in the next book. A bit of a cliffhanger at the end promises a sequel. I enjoyed the thinking process of the team and admired their willingness to put themselves on the line for the safety of others. It made me appreciate and respect law enforcement officers even more.

Recommend to readers who enjoy a fast paced crime story with a bit of faith, and hints of romance. 4.5 stars

Get ready to be on the edge of your seat! The Escape written by Lisa Harris is the first book in the US Marshalls series. The main characters, Madison and Jonas, have been re-introduced while being paired up for a new assignment. For Madison, it has been five years since her husband was murdered. His killer is still out there and appears to be taunting her by leaving black roses on the anniversary of his death. Jonas has just moved back to Seattle and was looking forward to some time off. Duty calls and the two US Marshalls are escorting several prisoners via air to their next destination. After a crash landing, the hunt for one of the prisoners ensues.

While I couldn't put the book down, I also felt as though there were slightly too many "he got away again" moments. There were several secondary characters and storylines that were entwined in the main theme. I assume a few of those will get fleshed out in future books. One scene in particular bothered me. A black rose was left on Madison's bed right before she leaves for this assignment. That didn't seem like a detail that should be casually interjected and passed off without investigation.

The Escape is a fast paced suspense packed with twists and turns. There's no lack of adrenaline filled scenes and only a spark of romance - like barely there. I look forward to the next installment to see what the US Marshals next adventure entails as this book ends in a bit of a cliffhanger.

The Escape is quite the exciting read! Trying to catch an escaped killer on the run from a plane crash made for quite a story line and hard to put down. Madison and Jonas are fun characters and I really enjoyed them in this story. Madison's back story peaked my interest especially with the mystery element that's sure to come out in the rest of the series. All in all, a good start to her new series. Looking forward to book 2!
