This book is a good fit for readers looking for a heartwarming story about second chances, redemption, and finding love in unexpected places.

Ok I did have warning that this had very graphic sex scenes. I’m not a prude, but this for me ruined what could have been such a great book.
When Megan aka the boss rents a cabin to get away she doesn’t realize that she will meet an old friend that she crushed on. She is prepared to die after her cancer returns. But Alec has other plans for her. This begins a quick, hot relationship that lasts a couple weeks.
I loved the storyline about the preppers and doing things on her bucket list. I could even deal with most of the bad language. Never so glad to finish a book and then delete it.
I could not recommend this book to one single person. I could have enjoyed this book,if it was lacking the 6-8 pages of pure filth. Ewwww.
I didn’t see any typos or grammar errors, but I did skip a few pages. So only reason the book gets a 2 star rating.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. I am posting my honest review now.

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

honestly it might just be me, but i could not get into this story. it was kind of boring and overall it wasn't even that good. i mean, it was cool that they kind of had that shared past, but it was still nothing memorable.

I don't know if it was the length of the novella or the fact that I am unfamiliar with these characters, but this one was just average for me. I enjoyed it, but I don't feel the burning need to continue a series like I usually do.

Loved visiting NoName. The main and secondary characters were very interesting and varied. Story was steady paced. Enjoyed the prepper living information. So many stories possible by some of the other characters. Fast read. Can't wait to read the next.

Amazing story. It had it all! Uniqueness, depth in characters, setting a great world, strongly emotional, erotic, romantic!!! I loved it! Even though I had to stop reading because I got emotional not being able to hold my tears, I was hooked with the story! It's my first time reading Elle Aycart, but she is an amazing writer. Looking forward to reading the follow up of this story!

Megan spent 10 years in and out of hospitals trying to beat cancer. Her friend she met in the hospital just died and Megan has escaped to a remote town where she came as a young girl. She had no idea she would reconnect with a young boy she spent time with many yeas ago. Alec manages the cabins and is thrilled to have her in town. He is in love with her, but Megan just wants to enjoy two weeks and move on. Her outcome is not good, and she wants no ties to anyone. The story is good, and the experiences Alec provides that she has never done are fun, but the story does contain sexually explicit scenes and adult language.

Book: Starting Point(Doomsday Preppers 0.5)
Author: Elle Aycart
Summary: Starting Point is about Meg, a cancer patient who’s lost all hope in life and she runs into her childhood sweetheart Alec, an ex-military. They reconnect and gain a nice understanding of each other by crossing things off her bucket list. But will Meg’s sickness be the end of them?

“You don’t abandon the people you love. You carry them when they can’t walk on their own two feet because they will carry you when your strength fails. You keep going and never give up. Ever. That’s what it means to be alive” -Alec to Meg

The best thing about ‘Starting Point’ is how atypical it is. Alec and Meg’s relationship is a testament to what every relationship must entail. They communicate well and don’t get bored with each other, at all. They are best friends who are in love with each other. Meg gave cheerful vibes despite her predicament. The author used different forms of humor which made the book stand out. After reading the summary of this novel readers would expect long melodramatic scenarios but that’s far from reality. The book has a rare setting, most of the background characters are doomsday preppers, people who always prepare for worst-case situations. The entire novel is hilarious.

‘Starting Point’ has a lot of references so it would not be as enjoyable to people who can't comprehend those as compared to those who can. Details about background characters and their stories would have added more depth to the story, like her best friend Jess. The steamy scenes are unconventional as well, but the author made it work. This book is recommended to readers who are in the mood for a casual rom-com.

ARC is provided by Bookbuzz and NetGalley. Thank you.

Starting Point the prequel to the Doomsday Prepper series was a great and emotional read. It has been over a year since I read book 1, Sky’s the Limit, but I remember reading snippets of Megan and Alec so it was wonderful to get their story.

Megan and Alec’s journey was heartbreaking yet so heartwarming at the same time. Megan had basically given up continuing to fight her cancer. She had been in remission for 18 months but that unfortunately did not last. She was now done, no more tests she was just going to live out whatever time she had left. This latest stop in NoName, Minnesota, is a place she remembers fondly. She had spent a summer there when she was thirteen and where she had met the hero in this story. Alec considered himself a delinquent 18 years ago, the only good thing he remembers was the young teenager with the opaque eyes. I loved when they reminisced about their time together. Alec was amazing with his determination to keep fighting. He found her again and was keeping her.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. We see a few of the local preppers and they are as hilarious as they were in book 1. I am looking forward to more in this series.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

Starting Point by Elle Aycart an amazing five-star shower read. This is 0.5 of the Doomsday prepper series and I need more, what a kick-off to the story, it was amazing. How crazy and fun NoName sounds, it sounds like a place I would love to visit but maybe not live, as much like Megan and Jess I also have a fondness for small town America, and romance novels, so for me meeting Megan was like meeting a new friend. There are so many amazing characters in this story and Elle Aycart has a way of making you fall in love with even the most crazy of characters, I cant wait to hear more about the crew, now if you will excuse me I am off to get my emergency kit.

This is a hard book to get through. The heroine is a cancer sufferer that has had a mastectomy and is now being told the cancer has returned. She decides to have one last hurrah in an idyllic small town in honor of her friend. The opening scene is the heroine having suicidal thoughts and acceptance of death while being locked out in the cold. I was ready to DNF at that but I gave it a bit more time. The book didn't get much better after that, even with a good hero on tap. The threat of imminent death, the heroines decision to not fight anymore, her decision to have a one last goodbye fling. They all contribute to a difficult and unenjoyable read. The ending is also only an HFN which leaves her survival up in the air. Everyone deserves love and im glad the book was written but as someone touched by cancer in her life this book was nearly unbearable.

This story had a very different premise and I quite enjoyed it. Both main characters were interesting, they had a shared past that helped set the tone for this new beginning. The last few chapters were quite poignant.
