I am not a runner or a walker but I have enjoyed perusing Dorina Gilmore Young’s newest release “Walk, Run, Soar”.
A 50 day devotional. This isn’t your typical one verse, a couple of hundred words and then journaling prompt type devotional.
Yes, it does start with a Scripture as a base, and yes there is an essay using a life moment, training or race story. Dorina also infuses Biblical themes and stories in them as well.
Each devotion closes out with a “Faith Step”. Action steps to take, either something to ponder or a journaling prompt. Not all have to do with running.
There are “Inspiration Moment” in each devotion too. Notable quotes by coaches, athletes, other runners. There are a few non-sports notables as well.

Her husband Shawn comes in with training tips each day and there is a weekly log each day to note your miles and whatever else you want to include about your workouts.

This is not just a devotional for runners, there are a few appendices in the back of the book. Essentially, “how to train” sections. Whether you are training for a 5k, a 10k or something else.

I think it’s a lovely devotional, whether you are a runner or not. I could still relate to the essays.

This is an excellent resource for walkers, runners and those who want to get started being more active. The devotions offer encouragement, perspective and inspiration to draw closer to God and to appreciate the beauty of His creation. There are coaching tips at the end of each devotional and some great bonus resources (info. on how to form a running group, warm-up drills for runners, training plans and mileage charts) located in the appendix. You can also check out the Walk Run Soar podcast.
