I really enjoyed Searching for Certainty by Shelly Miller. Definitely a timely read for our world right now. A couple of quotes from the book that really stood out to me:

"Ungratefulness sets in when I search for certainty through the lens of what I lack instead of the abundance right where I am. The voice of shame results in finger pointing; pointing at myself, others, and God for not being or doing enough. Ultimately, a lack of gratitude is rooted in striving for your worth and value outside of God, motivated by the fear of being unlovable."
"While I am calculating how my life should look, projecting the future based on today's circumstances, I miss the goodness of God right in front of me."

Four stars...definitely recommend!

Its good that Christ promised us that while in this sin cursed world, we'll always face uncertainty and trials, and these should be moments of drawing us closer to Him as we thrive spiritually. The author in this book helps us to learn how we may find joy amidst troubling times.

"We all long for certainty in life, yet things often don't go as we expect." - That is the first line of the description. I feel like I must be in the majority. I have found certainty in all the things of life that are not that I have expected.

My story is so different from that of the author's until the last chapter. I did not grow up with uncertainty I grew up knowing God and learning to trust him in all circumstances. My cancer surgery was just before the pandemic. I can relate to that bit of her life. Yet, in that I knew the certainty of God.

The author shares bits of her story through the book. Yes, I know moving to another country can be challenging. In many ways moving to England is easy compared to other places I have moved. I know what it is like to move to England.

The author takes various bits of her story and then relates it to Moses. I love Exodus but there are bits that I am still trying to put together as to how the author connects these situations.

Searching for Certainty
by Shelly Miller

It's just fluff. Miller uses the Message devotional as a Bible translation. The theology is iffy at best.I' did not like this book at all.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher.

Firstly, I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for giving me this copy in exchange for an honest review. I found this personally informative, and it really gave me a different perspective. I have to be honest- what attracted me most was the title... But the rest DID NOT DISAPPOINT! This book is fluid and written to perfection!!
