I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a simple book with an interesting premise, science in the kitchen. The characters are likable and the pictures are nice. The story could have developed a bit better, but I think kids will enjoy it.

I feel like this book didn't quite achieve its goal. The illustrations are nice, colorful and engaging, I like the diversity of the children, the use of Dyslexie font is great. The text seems rushed, though- I realize we're not going to get a step by step pizza-making process here, but there's not much focus on the steps really, other than measuring. I would've felt better seeing some adult supervision too, at least an adult hovering in the back ground, keeping an eye on things, especially dealing with a hot oven. Still, the cooperation of the kids is nice to see, and they are obviously having fun, learning to do something new, and enjoying their accomplishments at the end. Not perfect, but fun none the less.

What could have been a sweet story about friends working together to make pizza from scratch, instead gets waylaid by a font that is fuzzy and difficult to read. The graphics are really nice but the overall story and explanations are quite lengthy. But if going with the text as is, there should be an adult present. Every child should be shown washing their hands. Then add the adult using pot holders to remove the pizza safely and a picture of someone cutting the pizza into slices. It’s great that the author uses a favorite food of most kids in order to teach STEM but there should be more details.
I received an advanced reader copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This is my first Rosa book!

I loved the illustrations and the straightforwardness of the text. I could easily see this being used in a sensory story time or a STEM story time where we focused on pizza or process. I do wish there had been a little more focus of touch and senses in the story--something to engage the kinds deeper in the experiment process. It was a little short for me and I thought the idea could have been fleshed out a little more. However, I'm not familiar with the other Rosa books so I'm not sure if they follow the same pattern.

The characters are diverse, the story is sweet, and who doesn't love pizza? But touting it as a book that teaches about science or math seems a stretch. This book is very cute, but I think it's trying too hard to be STEM.

Math and Pizza! Jessica Spanyol's book, Rosa's Big Pizza Experiment, introduces readers to math measurement concepts in a fun and delicious way that will capture young readers attention! This is definitely a great addition to any classroom or homeschool program!

Thank you NetGalley and Myrick Marketing & Media, LLC for the e-ARC.

I'll start by noting that I haven't read the other Rosa books, so I don't know if the others focused more on the titular "experiment" aspect than others. This was more tangentially related to experimenting, but I liked the variety of pizza making elements it addressed. I wish they would have popped a recipe (or a QR code that led to one) on the back so that kids and parents could recreate the experience at home.

A cute simple book about how to make pizza. A group of children all get together to make pizza from scratch, starting with the dough. They go step-by-step through the process and we see them working together as they learn to cook.

My daughter thought it was adorable and she loved being able to read it at her pace. She's not the strongest reader, but she loves to try and this was just her level. It was super cute and I see it being in our rotation for homeschooling lessons.

Four friends experiment with making pizza. The story is well written and informative. It would ve a fun companion story while teaching children to make their own pizza.
