Maybe I should have read the first book to understand better what was happening, however, I really enjoyed this story; I liked the characters, I really liked the magical element and I liked the found family. Maybe if I can acquire the first book and read it, I’ll give this a reread and probably understand what’s happening more!! An enjoyable read though!!

This book dips back into Dean and Mercury's five years after book one and it's just as good. The author packs a lot of story into these few pages and I cannot wait to dive into book three to see what these amazing characters next adventure has in store for me.

*I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by NetGalley*

Oh how I love these little dragons. 😉 Well, they’re not all exactly little anymore because a few years have passed since the end of Dragon Consultant. They’re still adorable though and they’ve turned into quite the little family.

Lumie is as frustratingly unpredictable as ever and he has a way of making things a lot more complicated than they need to be. He gets the job done… eventually though and to him, that’s all that matters. He definitely means well, which kind of makes up for all the chaos. 😉

These books are short and sweet, but not lacking in suspense, danger and sweetness. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Supernatural Consultant series, Dragon Dilemma – which is coming soon.

Mell Eight manages to combine young adult and adult fiction flawlessly in Dragon Deception.

Deception takes place five years after Consultant and can be read as a standalone, but really what is the fun in not reading about everyone’s past? Everyone is five-years-older but not really wiser (laugh). Dane and Nickel (who is now 13-years-old) are working together on the civilian side to chase down the scientists and kidnappers of dragons.

Now here is where things get really interesting, Mercury is working for the bad guys (well one of them). This gives Eight an opportunity to bring in some very interesting secondary characters. Plus the mystery this story is all about originates from Mercury’s new position. (dun, dun, dun....)

Then we have the now combined shenanigans of Alloy and Lumie. I love them!!! There is a new secondary character named Goldie and colored me intrigued.

This story has magic, action, cinnamon, baby dragons (aka kits), and young love in constant turmoil. Mell Eight constantly throws in twists and humor. This is a family you want to escape to not from. I cannot wait to see where the “Supernatural Consultant” takes me next.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Its been 5 years since the first book. Dean and mercury are still in love and the kits are growing up. Mercury has a job with what is considered the supernatural fbi. Still searching for other kits and helping other dragons.
