I'm enjoying the world Jacqueline Grey is building in the Suit of Harte's series. There's a nice variety of characters, kinks, and relationships.

Jacqueline Grey has a lovely way of writing, very appealing, and I'm looking forward to the final book in this series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Erotica: It is no secret that I hated the first book. What the author called kinky, I thought it was actually demeaning for Michael, so I wasn’t really looking forward to this second story. Another repeat of that awfulness would have buried this saga and pretty likely the rest of this author’s book into the “never touch” place of my shelves. But this second book shows a much more promising style. The characters are better. The romance is way better. The kinky stuff is more sensible and actually appealing instead of nauseating. Overall, it is a nice short story to keep you entertained for a little bit. Nothing out of the extraordinary, but mostly correct. I will certainly check the third book once it gets the new edition.

Angry: Sadly, the author kept reminding me why I hated the first book so much. Maybe it is my own obsession, but it seems that Dillon has even more story time than even Jesse in Shoot the Moon. I know that is not true, but that character rubbed me the wrong way and I can’t stand his presence no matter how short. He is still micromanaging Michael’s everystep. That has nothing to do with any kind of kinky sex…

Am I the only one who thinks someone mixed the covers? The cover of the first book makes much more sense in the second book (it clearly displays Jesse) and the guy of this second cover would fit Dillon’s description way better.

Didn't realise this was the second in a series - requested due to the stunning cover but it was clear after a few pages I wasn't really going to be into this one. Just not to my taste.

Blog name: storytellers by Marlou
Expected publication date: unknown. I'm currently on hiatus from blogging.

This was a fun, quick and easy read! I finished it in one morning. I've been on such a romance binge this summer and I love it. I wanted to read something different than just your average contemporary romance, I couldn't find any paranormal romance that struck my fancy, but this book was about BDSM so I requested it on Netgalley.

Writing style: It's nothing special, but I thought it was nice. The way it was written made it very easy to read it and I this story flew by!

Characters: I'm still getting used to the flatness of contemporary romance characters. Adam and Jesse were cute but they had no personalities whatsoever. Their chemistry was great though! I saw the fireworks flying off the pages during their smut scenes.

Story: It was simple, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. The book mostly dealt with Adam's aversion to being called a sub. He doesn't mind being one as long as it doesn't involve pain, but he hates being labeled as such... Which has something to do with his dad kicking him out of his house for being gay and saying he doesn't want some pansy ass son... Poor Adam. This story really touched some of the struggles a gay man can have in his life.

I enjoyed this book, but it didn't blow me away. I probably won't be reading anything else of this series, or this author. I'm giving Shoot The Moon 3 stars.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series. Nothing much has changed with book 2. I still enjoyed my time in this journey. I wasn’t invested in the characters as much.

One thing I really enjoyed was the discovery portion. Adam is confronted with a side of him he never imagined when his BFF brings him to Harte club, and he runs into club owner Jesse. I love seeing self discovery. The back and forth between wanting and trying to come to terms with that want and the shame that society places on us is fascinating. The harsh words and abandonment of Adams parents for being Gay has tremendously troubled his psyche.

I wish that there was more instances of Jesse helping Adam through this. I also do feel like communication on both sides was very minimal. I’d have preferred Jesse taking a firmer approach in understanding Adams hang ups. I don’t remember them even having a real conversation about Adams fears. Simple communication can usually clear a path towards understanding. Especially with Jesse owning a kink club and must understand the beauty of clear communication.

Still the HEA was beautiful. I enjoyed the book and I can’t wait to get my hands on book 3

Thank you to the author, Netgalley, and NineStar Press for providing an eARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are entirely my own.

I really liked this story - and the series as a whole. I adored the first story of Michael and Dillon. Jesse was a very interesting side character in that story. I was excited to see him find his person. Jesse is a business man. He owns a club (with a dance side and a BDSM side) and a gym - among other things I'm sure. He is clearly a Dom - but that isn't all he is. Adam is a college age man whose parents kicked him out when he came out as being gay. He meets Jesse at his club and is intrigued by the BDSM aspects - but isn't sure if it is all for him. Adam isn't a submissive in the truest sense - but he does like giving over control to Adam and being on the kinkier side of things.

Jesse is consistent in his feelings for Adam throughout the story - but is a little slow on the uptake of how much Adam really means to him. For most of the book Adam blows hot and cold with Jesse - the sex is very hot, but he doesn't feel like he fits in to Jesse's lifestyle and won't be enough for him. Adam doesn't want things with Jesse to not be exclusive. Jesse takes some time to understand what he wants and what Adam needs from him.

I liked so much about the story - but it felt, unfinished, somehow. Adam and Jesse certainly get a happy for now ending - similar in some respects to Michael and Dillon, but less settled. I was surprised when the story ended - because I felt like I needed more. More resolution - more of a look at how things were going to work between then - more of something.

I hope this isn't the end of the series and I do hope we get to see more!

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

This was a fun novella in a series about a BDSM club. This one is the second and though I haven't read the first one yet, I can see how fun it is. They are all MM couples and this one is about the owner Jesse Harte and a man named Adam, who comes to the club one night with his roommate.

Adam isn't interested in being a submissive, but he can't fight his attraction to Jesse. Adam and Jesse enter into a weekly meet-up relationship. They start to catch feelings, and Adam worries that he can't offer Jesse what he is looking for. Jesse is a Dominant and Adam doesn't know if he can be what is required.

This is a situation I have seen before, but it was even more fun to see in a gay couple. When one man doesn't know what submitting really means or who is really in control in a D/S relationship.

This was only about 100 pages, so I feel like it could have been fleshed out more. However, that is a problem I always have with novellas. There aren't really intense BDSM scenes, since Adam doesn't like the painful side of play, but it was still super hot and it was very fun.

4/5 stars from me.

Shoot the Moon by Jacqueline Grey was a revelation to me! I mean, two hot guys doing bdsm? What could go wrong? Nothing for me.
I don't have a lot to say about the book except I loved it from start to finish. A 5 stars read for me!!

Shoot the Moon is a super quick novella set in the world of BDSM. It was a fun read. I didn't know it was a short story going in, so I definitely would have wanted more from the characters. For me, their relationship happened way to quickly. Overall, still a good read!

3.5 stars After reading part one which was excellently written and very enjoyable I was happy
to start part two.

There were parts I appreciated and parts where I found it less.

Adam is in a club on the dance floor and sees a beautiful man, Adam is drawn to him. When the man invites him to some other floors with other actions like BDSM, Adam follows. He is unfamiliar with it all and doesn’t understand what he’s looking at.
The man asks if he’s up for fun and Adam gets the time of his life.

After that night they have weekly dates until Adam reaches a point where he knows he can’t go on like this, Saturday’s and nothing more to offer.

The communication was bad, mostly because they had other things on their mind during their weekly meetings.
Adam was opposed against everything submissive and closed himself off from it
The switches of designation like a guy, the guide, the Dominant to a first name, or the young man, the boy, the lover, it was confusing.
The BDSM part was a bit at the background of this story.
The story could have done without the whole family part it wasn’t an attractive addition.
Jesse stayed consistently dominant and that felt right, Adam wasn’t quite an engaging person.
I did enjoy the most parts of this short story but for me, it had some flimsy parts here and there.

Adam's life changes when he heads to Harte with his friend. He hooks up with a man who is sexy and intriguing.... Adam finds himself on the BDSM floor of the club ... and doesn't even get his name.

After a few encounters, Adam realizes that he's been hooking up with Jesse - the club owner.

There was a weird POV switch at one point in the book that really threw me but it may be something that will be caught in a later edit. It wasn't extensive enough to completely take me out of the story, it was just a bit jarring.

Mostly, I enjoyed the exploration of submission and what it can mean. Jesse is clear what he wants and needs and even though that confuses Adam, they get there in the end. Submission isn't just about sexual acts or even physical play... it can be purely about trust.

I wish that this had been a longer piece of writing because I felt as though there should have been a bit more communication between the two men. Jesse is clearly an experienced Dominant and it bothered me a little that he didn't have any discussions with Adam regarding what he wanted.

I really wish that these books were longer because I really enjoy the author's writing style!

Adam's friend Ash drags him to Harte a BDSM/kink club, with three floors - one dedicated to dancing; there's bound to be some fun had. Adam is hesitant as he doesn't believe he identifies with anytypes of BDSM/kink but he complies with his friend's wishes. While there he meets the mysterious Jesse, they hit it off and then hook-up. What was supposed to be a one-time thing turns into a weekly meet-up and Adam beginning to want more then no-strings attached. Can Adam turn what he has with Jesse into the real deal, or will this relationship slip through his fingers?

SPOILERS

This book was okay. There was no major plot issues or character flaws. I only had a hard time with following the point of view of the narrator. We start with Adam's POV and then all of a sudden mid-hook-up we get Jesse's POV. It was so abrupt that I had to reread the page I was on a couple times. Prior to transitioning to Jesse's POV, Adam was mid-hook-up with unnamed mysterious guy; so to go to know named to this is how Jesse's feeling was discombobulating. I also wasn't too moved by Adam's so-called adversion to BDSM. We don't find out how his so-called verbal abuse from his parents until move than half way through the novel. I say so-called because there is no real background on what growing up in his house was like. We had a phrase here or there about his father not liking gay people and his parents did ultimately kick him out; but I think they needed to be a bigger catalyst. Adam states how BDSM and submission makes him weak and this is what he was lead to believe by being gay when he was younger - but again this should have been emphasized somehow in greater detail in flashbacks. Despite these setbacks I found the book to be a so/so romance. Both Jesse and Adam had a lot of hot and steamy scenes. However there's not a lot of talking and relationship built up if that is something that interests you, so if you're looking for a deep and soulful romance I wouldn't recommend this book. If you're the type that likes the almost instant love connections after a few romps then this book would probably be more your taste.

I received a free copy of this book via netgalley and have voluntarily given my honest review.

The relationship between Adam and Jesse progressed very fast, but there was no real communication between them. I wanted more depth in the relationship to be more believable. That being said I was happy that Jesse and Adam found each other.

I received this ecopy from the publisher and Netgalley for my honest review. It was a short read. I didn’t realize that this was part of a series. I would like to read the first book when I get the chance. The relationship between Adam and Jesse progressed very fast, but there was no real communication between them. I wanted more depth in the relationship to be more believable. That being said I was happy that Jesse and Adam found each other.

Well that escalated quickly!

It was a straight to the point BDSM kinkfest (eh but not really) with no tricks or gimmicks. Sure there was a lack of a storyline, oddly enough real kink from the MCs, depth, character development, and real romance but we're not here for that now are we?

The non-descriptive sex scenes and what seems to be the lack of kinkiness from the characters were the real downfalls to this read. I generally prefer reading all nitty gritty details on what's happening with our boys but then again, that's just a personal preference. More so, the sex scenes featured were very bland and mediocre despite the primary setting being in the BDSM club, it just wasn't delivered.

In any event, this second installment of the Suit of Harte’s series was okay and would probably be ideal for readers who are looking for a quick kinky fix.
