Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Christmas at Carly's Cupcakes by Jessica Redland. I enjoyed this book, its characters and the author's writing style. I thought it would be a Christmas read, but Christmas was barely mentioned. I would say is was a winter time summer read. It was mindless and happy! I will be recommending this book.

True chic lit fantastic book thoroughly loved reading every page.
It follows the owner of Carly’s Cupcake shop whose name is Carly, kind generous and a loving soul she set up her little shop when the previous owner retired. But in the run up to Christmas she is overwhelmed with work and offers her sister Bethany a job, Bethany jumps at it so far she hasn’t had much looks with jobs her last one working at a local nursery had resulted in her having a traumatic accident and although she tried she just couldn’t go back there.
Carly tried very hard to teach her sister how to ice the cakes or make the little people needed on the more complicated cakes but Bethany ended up with more icing on the floor and walls than on the cake, Carly put her front of shop where she exceeded everyone’s expectations but Carly needed someone to help with the cakes
Bethany was getting married 2 days before Christmas but things came to ahead a few weeks before when she had a meeting with her fiancé Joshua a lovely man who adored Bethany and his parents. It turned out that Bethany had not completed the tasks she said would ie favours etc
Bethany could take no more and left a note saying she was a failure and she was going away to sort herself out, but where?
Carlys best friend Liam had returned from Afghanistan and Carly was supposed to be telling him she had loved him for two decades but could she?
So many questions??

This was a great read by Jessica Redland that gave me a little taste of a Christmas read while sweltering in the summer heat. Once can always escape with a Christmas book and dream of cooler times right?

Carly owns a cupcake shop in Whitsborough Bay and lives above it in a flat. I get the feeling that this little town is one of those old fashion, feel good type of towns. I can only imagine Christmas in this little town! Carly has given her sister Bethany a job in her store since she is dealing with self esteem issues and can't really keep a job right now. What Carly doesn't prepare for is that Bethany is one accident after another and costs her more time than helping her in the shop. Carly doesn't have the heart to tell her sister that she can't work for her anymore though, especially with Bethany about to get married! Bethany does not need that right now.

Carly only has two wishes for this year. One that Bethany would overcome her self esteem issues and have a good wedding and two that her best friend from school, Liam that has recently joined the ARMY and shipped out to Afghanistan, will get leave for Christmas and be able to come home. Carly has recently realized that her feelings for Liam a re more than just friendship feelings and she is anxious to tell him when he comes home, if he gets to come home this year.

With Christmas approaching as well as Bethany's wedding, things in the Cupcake shop become more hectic and Carly wants to just get her orders done and please all her customers. Liam finally calls and tells Carly that his leave has been approved but that he is not sure exactly when he will be home. Carly is so happy that she will finally get to tell Liam how she feels. Now she really has to hurry along and get her orders filled so that she can spend time with Liam!

This is a great heartwarming story about how family goes to no ends to protect each other. Carly goes out of her way for Bethany for sure. This also reminds us of the special time that the Christmas season is. I am so ready to have Christmas again so that I can experience family and all the joys that comes with Christmas again!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book!

Pure Christmas magic! Mix in some fairy lights, snow and sweets and you have a perfect holiday tale. While it is a light read, the feelings and emotions elicited are nothing less than pure romantic bliss. Whitsborough is exactly the kind of small town that creates a charming backdrop and offers a wonderful community of family and friends. Carly is a warm and loyal baker who is in love with her best friend and is finally ready to take a chance and tell him. I love the dialogue and the reflections of Carly and Liam’s friendship as it grew into something more. Throw in some chaos with her soon to be married sister trying to survive wedding stressors and you too will fall in love with Carly, Liam, and Whitsborough. I will be reading the next book in the series as quickly as I possibly can! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own and freely given.

Thank you to Netgalley, Jessica Redland and Boldwood Books for the ARC of Christmas at Carly's Cupcakes. This is my personal review in exchange for the ARC.
This is much more than a Christmas story--- it is a story that happens around the holiday but does not focus on the holiday.
It is a feel-good story that lets you escape into a beautiful setting.
This is the first book I have read by Jessica Redland and I know I will be reading more.

🎀Seasonal hopes for new beginnings🎀 Escape to a lovely Yorkshire town❄⛄

Carly's story has some angst as she vacillates over how to protect her business from her sister's gaffes and she worries about her relationship with BFF who might be so much more? Liam, but it's essentially a positive energy story full of happy reminiscences and good, supportive family and friends preparing for a wedding, a soldier's homecoming visit and Christmas festivities. Snow angels, first footfalls in fresh snow and season-appropriate creative baked goods make this a cozy, positive story with romance and some resolution of old grudges. I really enjoyed it.

I just recently discovered author Jessica Redland through her Finding Love at Hedgehog Hollow. I like her strong female protagonists who brave their way through heartache and obstacles with hard work, dedication and kindness to come out winners.

Thanks to publishers Boldwood Books and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

This book takes place during the month before Christmas at Carly's Cupcakes. Carly is trying to help her sister Bethany through a bit of a hard time. The only problem is Bethany cannot do anything right at Carl's bakery and is making her life more complicated than it needs to be so close to Christmas. Unable to fire her sister with fear of making her life more miserable than it already is, Carly puts up with her antics until she realizes she is in major trouble.

This is a cute, quick read. I like that it was holiday themed, but that the holiday wasn't the main focus of the plotline. The story is a bit predictable but that does not take away any of its charm.

A really enjoyable story that is a little bit more than the usual fluffy Christmas story as it deals with some heavy topics but does it very well!

This is a delightful story that is set in the North Yorkshire seaside town of Whitsborough Bay during the four weeks preceding Christmas. Carly has her own bakery where she designs and bakes her own cupcakes and specialty cakes. She loves what she does and her shop is in the center of the picturesque town where she lives in the flat over the shop. The heart of this story is the relationship between Carly and her sister Bethany, who has had a rough time finding her footing in a career. After Bethany was attacked at her last job, Carly took her under her wing and brought her into the shop to work. Unfortunately, Carly has to fix lots of mishaps Bethany makes but she cannot bring herself to fire her. Bethany has a self esteem problem and looks at herself as a loser. Bethany and her boyfriend Joshua are to get married on December 22nd and as the date draws near, she gets more stressed. The whole story revolves around this situation and what we do for our loved ones sometimes at our own expense.
Another side to the story is Carly's best friend, Liam, who is serving in the Army in Afghanistan. The two bonded at age eleven because they were both shunned and bullied in school, considered outcasts. Carly wishes that their relationship would move pass the friend relationship to a romantic relationship. Both have dated others but it never lasted. What will happen when Liam comes home for Christmas? Can Carly get the courage to tell Liam how she feels? Will it destroy their friendship?
The story takes place in a lovely setting with a close knit and supportive set of shop owners during the most festive time of the year. It brings to the forefront how important our family and friends are to us and how we should make the most of our time. It is a lovely story that brought a smile to my face as it ended.
This is a refreshed and updated version of a book previously released. It is my first by the author and I plan to read other books in the series.
I received a complimentary ARC from Boldwood Books through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

Carly owns the cupcake shop in the seaside town of Whitborough Bay, this winter is going to be action packed. She has more cake orders than one woman can handle and a massive family problem to work out, all before her sisters Christmas wedding.

On top of that, Carly has been in love with her best friend Liam since they were kids. Upon his return to the UK after being in Afghanistan is now a good time for her to drop her defences and finally reveal the truth.

I can’t begin to tell you how much I love Jessica’s books, I’m looking forward to reading more.
