I enjoyed this book.
It was however a little intense for a younger kid at points. If your child scares easily, be cautious and ready to explain.

This book was adorable. A fun and quick read! My nine-year-old daughter loved it, and I thought it was a fun kids book. I would love to see another book with these two.

I get the play on Rocky and Bullwinkle, which honestly most kids won’t get, but that’s about where the charm ended for me. I think there’s too much text for the age range this book works for, and it just made it hard to slog through.

As a Boston Terrier momma, I just had to read this one! This is such a cute tale of a Boston Terrier and piglet duo. Horace (the Boston) and Bunwinkle (the piglet) misinterpret what their owner says and what they hear on television. They jump to conclusions and get into a lot of trouble as they try to solve the mystery of the missing animals at the Homestead.

It is a great children's "mystery" as well as a lovable animal story. This would definitely be a great read aloud in an elementary classroom!

I would bring this story into my 4th-grade classroom in a heartbeat. It tells the story of Horace and Bunwinkle. They are a very unique and original pair. I think my students will laugh out loud as they watch Horace and Bunwinkle try to solve the mystery of the Homestead.

Books about animals interacting with humans have to be carefully done. Otherwise the humor can rely too much on the animals not understanding human figures of speech. And that is a trap that this book falls into often. Horace and Bunwinkle misinterpret what their owner says and what they hear on television. They jump to conclusions and get into a lot of trouble. The animal interactions are strong, the mystery elements less so. The evidence is presented in an uneven manner, discovered largely by accident. The resolution is a bit over the top. A good idea with a lot of promise but somewhat lacking in the execution.

I received this ebook in exchange for an honest review. What a joy to read. The characters were funny and so cute. Who wouldn’t love a Boston Terrier and a Piglet so many animals each with great character, I loved the farm as the background for the story. I will purchase this book for my classroom library!

I mean it's a story about an adorable pig named Bunwinkle, the names alone were golden. I loved how the animals were humanized, but still needed their human. It is a great children's "mystery" as well as a lovable animal story.

I requested to read the advanced copy of this novel because of the cover; there's nothing I love more than piggies and puppers. I mean, Charlotte's Web was my favorite novel as a kid; so there was no doubt this one would be a favorite too. And these two are adorable: Horace and Bunwinkle. Their names are as unique as the characters. Horace Homer Higgins III is a noble and regal Boston terrier His human, Ellie, has decided to leave city life and move to a farm replete chicks, goats, and horses. Horace gets a plethora of new smells when he moves and a sister! Ellie adopts a piglet and names her Bunwinkle. Bunwinkle is the opposite of Horace. She's excited, clumsy and larger than life. He hates to get dirty, she lives for clean up (play in the mud time). They are opposites, but made to be a dynamic duo.

There's a darkness lurking in the new town. Animals are going missing from various farms. Bunwinkle and Horace set about to investigate the missing animals. Will they solve the case? You'll have to read it to find out!

I don't think the show Pet-Tectives from this novel exists; but if Suey and Spot are a crime fighting duo, I would watch it all day long too. I would be a couch potato with Horace and Bunwinkle any day and I would binge watch whatever they'd like.

I would also hang out with the other animals in this story any day: A mustache sporting princess cat named Dali, Mal - the Scottish billy goat, Jones - the conspiracy theory spouting horse, Smokey - the tough as nails stray cat. Their perspectives and thoughts are adorable.

Requested this because of the dog on the cover. My son's favorite breed. We got a good laugh out of this one. I read a lot of it by myself because he was really too little for the whole thing. We will be sure to add a copy to the shelves for when he is a bit bigger.

Being a Boston Terrier mom for 14 years, before my little one passed away in October 2019, I found this spot on representing Boston Terriers. I felt like I was reading about my Maggie, from the licking to the aversion of being dirty.

I am excited about this potential series and plan on buying the hard copy of this book when it releases in September. It is perfect for young animal lovers in your life. I cannot wait to share this with my littles when school resumes.

Be prepared to laugh with your littles while reading this beautifully written book. Perfect for readalongs.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, HarperCollins Children's Books, through NetGalley. Any and all opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.

Absolutely loved, loved, loved this book and so will everyone who is fortunate enough to read it. If you like a little laughter along with your books, as well as she’d a tear or two, you have got to read this one. Read it on the porch, a rocking chair, or out in a barn. This is one sweet tale (or is it tail?) that your life will never be the same after reading.
I received an advanced reader copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
