All That Glitters follows a character named Coco. Coco lives a life of privilege, provided for her by her parents' hard work and passion. So while she's privileged, she also has a human sense of the world. Coco's best friend is Sam, an orthodox Jewish man-- they have been friends since childhood.

Coco's parents die tragically in a terrorist attack while away in Paris shortly after Coco's first year of college. Bereft by the death of her parents, she falls into a depression for a year... while simultaneously having an affair with the (married) trustee of her estate. Coco eventually ends the relationship, but this book follows her various relationships with other men who enter and exit her life. All she wants is a love like her parents.

Meanwhile, Sam handles taking over his family business, being pushed into marriage to a girl he's dating, and falling into the lifestyle his parents expected him to live, despite wanting something different for himself. Coco is his one connection to the life he wants to live vs the life he has.

I thought this book was a wonderfully lighthearted read, and short to boot! I loved following Sam & Coco's friendship throughout their lives. I wasn't surprised by the ending, since it seems pretty clear her mission to find love is the primary plot... yet enjoyable nonetheless.

I am reviewing a copy of All That Glitters through Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine/Delacorte Press:

Nicole Martin, also known as Coco is destined to have it all. She is the only child of doting, successful parents, she was given every opportunity in life. She had inherited her Mother’s incredible beauty and creativity, along with her father’s work ethic and diligence, she has the world at her feet. Her graduation from Columbia is fast approaching, and with it the summer job of her dreams working at a magazine. She finds herself busy between work, leisurely weekends at her family’s home in Southampton, and spending as much time as possible with her best friend, Sam, life couldn’t be better—until tragedy strikes. Coco’s beloved parents are killed in a terrorist attack while on vacation in France.

Coco finds herself devastated and alone, Coco must find a way to move forward and make her way in the world without the family she loved.

Coco is determined to forge her own path, as well as to make her parents proud, so she pursues her dreams excited by the opportunities that come her way. She has set a goal for herself, that is to think outside the box and to play by her own rules. As she finds herself drawn to charismatic, fascinating men, each relationship will teach Coco new lessons, some delightful, some painful. She will come to realize what matters, and how strong she truly is—and in the end, she will discover herself.

This book richly explores one woman’s poignant journey through life, All That Glitters is a compelling tale of challenges, heartbreak, discovery, and triumph, a powerful reminder that all that glitters is not the essence of life.

I give All that Glitters five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

It was an awesome Book. The female character was believeable. through all the struggles she faced she kept going when you felt at times she would give up. I highly recommend.

This was such a beautiful story! Danielle Steel is one of those authors that can seamlessly move between genres and it always works. I love how every story feels new and fresh! I liked how we get the chance to see Coco's growth over a multi-year time span. I did get frustrated with Coco's incessant need to make utterly terrible decisions, but it was still a really good story.

Thank you for my gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

3 Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well, this was not one of my favorites by Steel. You never really know which way her books are gonna go with the newer releases.

The main character - Coco Martin, a lovely young woman who was raised by wealthy parents, lived a very charmed life. When tragedy strikes her family, she must find herself, make her own way and learn who (and how) to trust.

I found Coco to be a very naive woman when it came to life and men. After moving to London, she meets the “man of her dreams”. He introduces her to an extravagant lifestyle filled with parties and the social elite. However, he is not who he seems. He was my least favorite character and Coco falling for his crap over and over produced lots of eye rolls from me. It annoyed me that she was a constant doormat. Her oldest friend - a man named Sam was always trying to tell her to get a clue, to no avail.

The ending was super predictable, but that isn’t uncommon in Danielle Steel books.

Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Ballantine and Danielle Steel for my advanced copy to read and review.

All That Glitters by Danielle Steel is one of the best books that I have read lately. It was a fast read that kept me wanting more, and It reminded me of her older style of writing. We meet the main character Coco, who is a young woman in school whose life is turned upside down after a devastating accident. She finds herself alone and she must learn who to trust and where she belongs. Go with Coco through her joys and sorrows, trying to get a new lease on life. At times I found myself feeling sorry for her and wanting to help her find contentment and happiness . i enjoyed this book and I was not ready for it to end. Don't miss out on this one!

No doubt about it, Danielle Steel takes me back to when I was much younger,17 . The age when I first encountered this author. All That Glitters reminds us that sometimes the love we want has always been in our own backyard. Coco and Sam share a special bond since childhood. As they reach adulthood circumstances take them on separate paths. Life intervenes and pretty soon their lives become messy. Realization sneaks up on Coco and she knows where and with whom her heart lies. #AllThatGlitters #NetGalley

This was a DNF for me. I had never read Danielle Steel before and it was just not my style. When she was seduced by her late father's best friend, it just seemed so gross that I could not continue. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book in return for an honest opinion.

#netgalley #netgalleyreads #daniellesteele #allthatglitters this book ❤️ my heart people. This has a bit of everything in there for us. Death. Being with the wrong person. Marriage. Divorce. Love. Tears. And. Maybe a happily ever after 🤷‍♀️ I say it with every book and I’ll say it again. With the insanity of what’s happening in the world quiet the outside world and get lost with Danielle Steele as she unravels such a glorious story. It is definitely a five star reading. #bookstagram #booknerd #bookstagrammer #readersofinstagram #booksofinstagram #bookreviewersofinstagram #readingaddict

Absolutely loved this book. I've read so many of Danielle Steel's books that I'm used to her following the same formula for a lot of her stories. While her books are still great, sometimes they become redundant after a while. But not this book. This was such a breath of fresh air.

Coco Martin's parents were the classic couple that everyone had doubts on whether their relationship would last in the beginning. Bethanie, her mom, was from old money on the East Coast and her father, Tom, was from a poor family from the Midwest. They met when Tom was at Princeton on an academic scholarship studying investment banking and she was at Brown studying photography. Bethanie's parents wanted her to date someone from their own social circle, she refused, they fell in love, an eventually eloped. Bethanie worked freelance photography jobs by day and waited tables at night with her husband, refusing to take a dime from her parents. Tom went and got his MBA with his wife's help and proved everyone wrong.

They had Coco by the time they were 25 years old and shared their lives with her. She traveled the world with them, attended adult parties, and they always reminded her "to make her own rules and live by them."

Coco's best friend was Samuel Stein, he came from a strict Orthodox Jewish heritage. Coco was raised Catholic, but that didn't stop a close friendship that began in 4th grade for her, him in 5th, being a year older. The summer of her senior year in college, Coco got an internship at Time magazine to help pursue her journalism dreams. That's when the family of 3 took their summer trip to Europe, but an opportunity at Time was worth it. Three days after her parents flew to France, there was a terrorist attack and her parents were killed, leaving her an orphan.

Sam never left her side the whole year she fell apart mourning. Coco never went back to school to finish her last year. Her dad's partner, Ed, Coco's trustee, took advantage of her innocence and grief and dazzled her with fancy dinners and gifts, ending up in his bed. He was almost 20 years older than her and married with kids and grandchildren; yet kept promises of divorce on the table until Sam knocked some sense into her.

When she called Time magazine again, they had an opening in their London office and she took it. Being the sole beneficiary of her parents vast estate, Sam worried about her and he had a good reason to. Coco loved London. But she was looking for someone to be her family so much, she never saw the fortune hunter that Nigel, the first man other than Ed to dazzle her, really was until they were married 4 months later. By then, he'd been having a field day with her money. Exactly 11 months later, she was divorced and alone pregnant.

Sam, her constant support, never left her. He finally agreed to marry an orthodox woman who would make him stable. Coco couldn't understand how he could settle, but supported him all through his marriage and 4 children. By then, Coco was dazzled by another man. Only this time they were on equal footing financially. He was a famous author, but emotionally broken. When Coco's daughter was diagnosed with cancer at 4 years old, he left her on her own.

Once again, Sam stepped up and this time they leaned on each other. His religious wife wanted a divorce, leaving him for a Rabbi and giving him custody of their children.

That's when Coco realized that the dazzle wasn't what she wanted all along, It was fleeting. She just wanted Sam. He was always there for her and she truly loved him as he did her.

A must read!!

The story focuses on Nicole “Coco” Martin was a 21-year-old year journalism major at Columbia University and her Orthodox Jewish friend, Sam Stein. Coco is the much-loved and pampered daughter of affluent parents, Tom and Bethanie. The family is scheduled to take their annual summer holiday to France, but Coco must stay behind for her summer internship at Time magazine. Coco's world is rocked when her parents are tragically killed in France.

Sam is Coco's mainstay throughout the story.

We see Coco make decisions that one can only imagine are made because of the tragic loss of her parents and are made in a desire to find the love she longs for and misses from her parents.

After an unsettling affair, Coco leaves Columbia University, NYC, and Sam behind and jettisons to London to find herself and start a life for herself.

In London, Coco works for the Time bureau there and meets Nigel and Londoner and social-climber. Coco becomes captivated by him, falls in love, and again, finds herself in a relationship that doesn't offer the love she seeks.

All the while, Sam stands by her offering his support and love. Like so many, Coco is blind to the obvious.

If you're searching for an easy book to read in a weekend, All That Glitters fills the bill.

Thank you NetGalley and Danielle Steele! I am a huge Danielle Steele fan and this was right up there with my expectations when I pick up one of her books. I thought the character development was perfect and fell in love with all of them. I felt all of Cocos pain and all of her joy when she got her happy!

I love Danielle Steel books and as always this one did not disappoint with her usual style of writing. I have no idea how she keeps coming up with these great stories to entertain us but I am so glad that she does. I love a good read by Danielle Steel and am always looking forward to new books coming out!

Coco Martin is a woman that has had to go through many hard lessons in life. She is an only child and is pretty spoiled by her wealthy parents, but when tragedy strikes her family, no amount of money can help Coco bring her parent's back. What Coco has to go through pulls at your heart strings but I loved going along with Coco on her journey to discover who she is.

Coco has a life long friend, Sam, that is always by her side no matter what. Coco is there for Sam too when he is going through tough life changes and needs someone to talk to. Sam has always been protective of Coco, but when she thinks she knows better than Sam, she gets her heart broken a couple of times. Coco learns that Sam usually knows what he is talking about and takes his advise and opinion a little more to heart as time goes on.

When Coco ends up with a daughter and the dead beat dad doesn't want anything to do with her, Coco makes her mind up that she is going to do whatever it takes to raise her and make a good life for her. I admire Coco for keeping her daughter and taking on full responsibility for her, not too many would take on the challenge like Coco did.

I loved following along with Coco when she realized that not everything that glitters and sound like a good thing is. Lots of life lessons learned but in the end Coco makes the amazing correct decision for her. I am not going to give the book away because you will enjoy discovering this one as you read it. As always this one is very well written and keeps your attention all the way through. Thanks to Danielle Steel for a great read once again!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book.

This book made me think a lot. How do we know whom we can trust? What separates us? I had so much fun reading this story. Danielle never disappoints.

I have been reading Danielle Steel’s books for over 20 years. I have never been disappointed. So I was very excited to receive a copy to read and review.
Coco survived several tragedies throughout the story and continued to become a stronger woman and mother.
Sam was the responsible man, who never wanted to disappoint anyone including his parents. So he settled in many aspects in his life.
I was able to predict the ending. But loved seeing how it unfolded.
Can’t wait to read her next novel. Thanks Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Danielle Steel know how to pull your heart in and not let go until the end. I wanted to savor every page in this story, of Coco finally finding love like her parents had. Loved Coco and Sam's friendship, always there for each other even though they have different upbringings. Coco goes through a few relationships before she finds her happiness in life. I highly recommend this story.

Danielle Steel was one of my first favorite authors. Her book Message from Nam is the book that turned me into the avid reader I have become today. Throughout the years I have read many books by this author. She has a style that appeals to me and never disappoints.

All that Glitters is no different. This book was like picking up with an old friend telling me a new story. This is a fast paced story that includes grief, resilience, and courage. Coco's character is lovable and is easy to empathize with. She definitely faces many challenges before she finds her way. This book was difficult to put down. I recommend it to fans of the author and anyone looking for a new read.
