All That Glitters was I just what I needed to escape from every day life. I have to say I think this is probably the best book that Danielle Steel has written this year. At first I didnb't get off to a good start, but then once I got into it I managed to read it in a day. It was that good. The book talks about the main character Nichole(coco0 Martin. She overcomes a lot and manages to find her way to happiness. First she loses her parents in a terrorist attack. Then she goes through tough relationships but in the end she finds happiness with her best friend who she has known all her life. I am grateful that netgsalley, and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review. |

Danielle Steel delivers another entertaining, easy read. The storyline covers approximately a decade of Nicole (aka Coco) Martin’s life beginning with her senior year at Columbia University in NYC. Tragically, her parents are killed in a terrorist bombing while on vacation in France. This event and her subsequent grief changes the entire trajectory of her life. The only sustaining and stable element is her friendship with Sam Stein, her best friend since 4th grade. As with all of Steel’s books, the protagonist is a strong, intelligent woman who navigates life’s challenges with courage and style. In this instance, Coco perseveres through a series of dysfunctional relationships characterized by “flash” with charming, flawed men. In each instance, she gains maturity through insight into her own motives and behavior, ultimately realizing that what is truly important to her has been right in front of her all along. I enjoyed the character development, especially the ongoing relationship between Coco and Sam. One caveat: the portrayal of Sam’s Orthodox Jewish family might be unsettling for some readers. Overall, this was a fun, escapist read that I finished in one day. Once I start one of the author’s books I find it hard to put down and this book was no exception. My one critique is that I felt the ending was a bit rushed. My thanks to the author, Random House Publishing Delacorte Press and NetGalley for providing the opportunity to review an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review |
I needed a different kind of book instead of a psychological thriller which is what I’ve been reading lots of lately. The newest book by Danielle Steel “All That Glitters” was perfect for me right now! It’s been a rough week for our family as we said goodbye to our son’s best friend who was like a part of our family. This book helped me escape! And I want to thank this brilliant author for that! This is my 32nd book by DS. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. |
I thoroughly enjoyed reading All That Glitters and devoured the book in one day! I am a huge fan of Danielle Steel and can confidently say this is my favorite book of hers so far! |
Danielle Steel books are like comfy blankets to me. I get wrapped up in them and they leave me feeling all warm & fuzzy. I find them hard to put them down. Coco, while naive (and just a bit dumb), is a warm and caring. She's had some tough breaks and made some bad choices, but persevered. Her best friend Sam, who has been there for her since they were children, is loyal and protective. They are each other's anchor and navigate through life together. This was an enjoyable book. I eagerly await the next. Thank you Danielle Steel, Delacort Press and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback. |
All That Glitters is not gold as Coco's gilded world comes crashing down around her after a devastating phone call. While attempting to put together the pieces, she pursues love in all the wrong places. Through it all, her best friend Sam is firmly at her side and his strength provides foundation for Coco's future. Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the early edition of #AllThatGlitters in exchange for an honest review. I love Danielle Steel's books but this one was more of a glittery facade than substance. I had trouble identify with Coco's golden world. Despite being a simple girl at heart, she sought after flashy materialistic lovers or those keeping their love just out of reach. As Coco's rocky road to adulthood endured, the book become more balanced. Her latter choices made me root for the protagonist to succeed as well as her loved ones. Coco grew up with the finer things in life yet Sam proved that friends were worth more than money. Steel's historical fiction will always have a special place in my heart but I enjoyed "All That Glitters." While reading, unlock your inner fashionista and jet set to a world of infinite possibilities. |

Love and romance...rich......travels...couples...true love...scandals and more...This novelniss too explicit and that part of the bookmis not necessary. For a quick light read...try it. |

Coco's v rich parents die at the beginning of the book and she spends the rest of the book trying to find love in a variety of ways, mostly with very fancy and flashy guys. During it all, her friend Sam is by her side. |

Another wonderful book by a great author. Coco is a college student about to start a great internship when tragedy hits. She is soon to discover that people aren't always who they make themselves out to be. After 20 years of choices and consequences she is finally faced with how she has always felt and things turn out well. I loved it Will share on Goodreads and Amazon when allowed |

I am a fan of most of Danielle Steele’s books. I especially enjoyed this book. I had many emotions (happy, sad, the feeling of oh boy watch out with this one) from reading this book. For such a young girl she had so many trials to overcome in her life. I enjoyed the book and will be recommending it to others when recommending books at the library. |

Good read! Coco and Sam have been best friends forever. Coco is from a wealthy family and Sam is middle class Jewish. When tragedy strikes and she loses her parents. Coco feels lost and unable to go on with her life as it was even with Sam’s help. She starts a relationship With her father’s partner and that leads to relationships that don’t last. Sam is dealing with his own struggles to live his life as he wishes while dealing with his family trying to run his life. They worry that he will not marry a Jewish girl. Both Coco and Sam struggle with their lives while staying best friend through the years. You wonder if they will ever figure things out! |
All That Glitters by Danielle Steel is a gripping story of challenges, heartbreak, discovery, and victories that is a great reminder that all that glitters is not the real meaning of life. Nicole “Coco” Martin is certain to have the world dropped at her feet. She inherited her mother’s beauty and creativity, as well as her father’s work ethic and diligence. Between work, simple weekends at the family’s home in Southampton, and spending as much time as possible with her best friend, Sam, life couldn’t be better. But we know Danielle steel, tragedy strikes. Coco’s beloved parents are killed in a terrorist attack while alone on vacation in France. Coco is determined to build her own path and make her parents proud. Coco will think outside the box and play by her own rules. Coco finds herself drawn to charming, intriguing men. Each relationship will teach Coco new lessons, some delightful, some upsetting. Coco soon realizes what matters most, and how strong she truly is. She will discover herself and what is truly worth having was right there all along, Sam. This is an awesome read. Couldnt put it down. |
This is a lesson to be learned. Be-careful what you do while in LOVE? Many of us don't see the forest for the trees! |
While I’d say this is “typical Danielle Steel” in style, it wasn’t my favorite in story line. Most of her books revolve around a main character who learns some major life lesson(s) in some form or fashion, and we find Coco in All That Glitters doing that following the tragic death of her parents at an early age. During this aftermath, falls into some unhealthy relationships. Though she has one major gift that comes out of one of these relationships, I just found myself annoyed with her actions leading up to that point. And while I was somewhat satisfied with the ending of the story, I felt that it ended too quick and would have liked to have seen more of that story develop. |
Coco is a a year away from graduating college when her parents die tragically in a terrorist bombing , having no other family Coco is alone in the world except for her childhood friend , Sam. Danielle Steel takes the reader along for the ride as we see Coco try to grow up quickly. While the friendship between Coco and Sam is strong, all of her other relationships have too much glitter and not enough staying power. I enjoyed this book, I enjoyed the friendship and watching Coco grow up. |

This book is amazing. Shows that true love can be right in front of you. Could not put this book down at all |
This was my first DS novel - I’ve been meaning to read one for years bc she’s revered by my gramma and several of my honored patrons. I imagine one book is like any other and follows the familiar story arc: Girl is pure Girl faces tragedy Girl looks to various men in her orbit to fill the hollow space Men treat Girl badly, but she “grows” and her purity shows her saintliness Girl learns to take control of her own life by being more prudent about the men she has affairs with All the while Girl grows an enviable career Girl has epiphany and chooses the saintly life and gets to “have it all” I’m a fan of soap operas, and this reads like one, they fit neatly together. I can see enjoying one of these books each year, but I have to leave my progressive values at the door and willingly step into a world where women are defined by the men in their lives. Where women are without fault and tirelessly rescuing the damaged men around them. So why 3 stars? I’m disappointed about the cavalier way in which orthodox Jewish culture is borrowed for the character of Sam. He eats non kosher foods every chance he gets, a falls into the trap of an orthodox life he doesn’t want for the sake of tradition. It’s not an honest representation of so many who love this life. And I’m surprised he was allowed to have such a close friendship with a shiksa in the first place. Also, the story was wrapped up in a few pages, too quick, I would have enjoyed hearing more, maybe getting a glimpse into the couple’s future. |
This story focus on Coco and how she moves forward in her life after the tragic loss of both of her parents at a young age. As she moves on with her life she finds herself aware of the "flashes" in her life and the pull that they have on her. The book pulled me in and I read it all in one night. While the story line was predictable it was very easy to connect to the characters and feel invested in their lives |
All That Glitters by Danielle Steel . Entertaining read on the ups and downs of Coco and Sam's lives. A balm for these upsetting and unsettling times, a sweet, enjoyable romance. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book. |
While I still enjoy Danielle Steel's books, I feel like the characters are always the same. But sometimes that's good, because then you know what to expect. There's some comfort in it. While this wasn't a favorite of hers, I will keep on reading her. |
