Another easy read. Enjoyed it but very predictable. Quick story of another list another love. A sad tell but for some reason sounds and reads familiar. Not my favorite but glad I got to read it. Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martins Press. |

All That Glitters follows the life of Coco. She takes a tragic event and finds a way to make it through life and all the events that follow. I loved the ending of the book. It was a story that a lot of people can relate to in their own ways. Classic Danielle Steel. |

I was given an ARC of this book in return for writing this review.. I have been reading Danielle Steel's books for over 35 years. To me reading one of her novels is kind of like eating a doughnut. You know what to expect from the experience, and every once in a while the urge to consume one is irresistible. In this book Nicole Martin (Coco) loses her parents in a terrorist attack during the summer before her senior year of college at Columbia University. We follow her relationship with her best friend Sam Stein through many ups and downs during her twenties and early thirties. She travels and lives in some beautiful venues in Europe and New York. The pain from the early loss of her parents leads her to be attracted to men who are all "flash" and no substance and provide her no support system or real love. Will she end up with one of these men or Sam? Will she ever realize what is really important to her and what she values? If you enjoy Danielle Steel's novels you will enjoy this book. It is a quick escapist read. |
I am a Danielle Steel lover. This one didn't disappoint. The story is a realistic telling of what happens when someone experiences tragedy in their life and is able to waddle through the peak and valleys of the grief process. Ultimately thriving in the end, I loved the relationship between the two main characters. Their relationship was sweet as it developed. I could relate to the families because Sam's family reminded me of my own. I would definitely recommend this book, Enjoy! |
All That Glitters is a soothing Steel read. Coco suffers a major tragedy, but her stalwart friend Sam is by her side constantly. She makes bad decisions in relationships while steering a new career path. Sam follows his family's wishes and pays a price. I was waiting for what I knew would happen and it finally did, at the end of the book. Coco was a flat character and the ending lacked pizzaz. I liked Sam the best. |
I needed a light, easy read right now, and I knew that Danielle Steel was just the thing! This was a wonderful story about a young girl named Coco and her plight throughout her life. Steel did a masterful job weaving in the many mistakes of Coco...in love and life. This book was a much appreciated distraction for me during a very busy and chaotic time in my life. I grew up reading Danielle Steel and had stopped for some time. But I am glad I took the time to read this one. She never disappoints. This was an ARC book, given to me in trade for my honest opinion. Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley.com for giving me the opportunity. |
Another day, another Danielle Steel. I absolutely love her books! The tragic story of Coco's life is one for the ages. A privileged upbringing, trauma, love affairs and finally connecting with her soulmate, I can see this being turned into a movie. Switching between London and NYC, Coco's life is complicated, but in typical Steel fashion, it wrapped up in a pretty red bow in the end. If you love Danielle Steel as much as I do, go grab a copy of this book! |
I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review. This book started out as one I wanted to rush though because I was enjoying it but then wanted to stop and savor it. I got to the end of a few chapters and just had to take a deep breath before turning the page as I knew what the next page would say. The friendship between Coco and Sam, is one many dream of, it was so nice to see them always there for each other, regardless of their backgrounds and all that surrounded them. This book focused mainly on Coco and her life, her perfect life changes with a phone call and how she lives the next many years, finding 'flash' in men and figuring things out. My struggle with this one was I really wanted to a book about a great friendship that didn't after all those years turn to love, it was just a little unrealistic to me. Solid 3.5 stars |
I received a free e-ARC of this book through Netgalley. This book is classic Danielle Steel. Coco had the perfect life in every way. Then tragedy strikes and all she has left is a ton of money and her BFF Sam. Coco is naive enough to believe guys when they say they love her and don't need her money. Fast-forward to end of the book where she ends up with the perfect guy for her despite the book telling us frequently that he isn't the perfect guy for her. I'm not sure I was in the right mood while reading this because yes, she has problems, but her money makes most of the problems go away. I'd like to read more books about seemingly-regular people who don't have a billion dollars to throw at their problems. A good read if you love Danielle Steel. |
I love Danielle Steel and have been reading her books for as long as I can remember. So, I was of course excited for a new one by her! However, this story didn't grab me like most of hers do. The plot seemed very familiar and the end was predictable. But this won't stop me from reading more books from her in the future! |
All That Glitters, by Danielle Steel, is a beautiful and breathtaking story about two best friends and the trials and triumphs they experience while living widely different lifestyles thousands of miles apart. Coco and Sam’s bond is an example of how friendships can be strengthen by the differences of two people, and not necessarily their similarities. All That Glitters stood out as a modernized story because it went beyond the traditional love story of a woman and a man meeting, falling in love, overcoming obstacles, and forming a stronger relationship as a result. The reality is that people don’t always get it right the first time, and sometimes not even the second time. It was refreshing to read about a character who was flawed, and had to make a lot of mistakes along the way before finding true love and success. Coco learns that a mistake is only a failure if you don’t learn from it and find the strength to pick up the broken pieces and move forward in life. Coco and Sam have been best friends since a young age, and have more differences than similarities. Despite their differences, they formed an unique unbreakable friendship and stood by each other through pain, loss, suffering, heartache, and mistakes. They freely gave advice to one another, but did not try to stifle each other when they made mistakes along the way to finding happiness. Although they don’t always agree,, there isn’t anything they wouldn’t do for one another. The strength of their friendship is tested more than once, but nothing ever lessens their powerful bond. Sam is part of a devout Jewish family and his mother has strict beliefs about following the traditions and standards of a Jewish family. She was never comfortable with Sam and Coco’s friendship because she always worried that their friendship would turn into more. That would have been unacceptable in her eyes because it was highly important that Sam marry a Jewish woman and continue the tradition and legacy Sam was born into. Although his father has a less intense approach to following the religion to perfection, he does have very high expectations of Sam working in the family business. Coco’s parents were somewhat more free spirited in their beliefs. They encouraged Coco to be cautions, work hard, and follow her dreams. When the die tragically while Coco is working as an intern and nearing the goal of earning her college degree, she is understandably grief stricken. Sam, loyal as ever, does everything he can to try to help her get through it. As the days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into months, he can tell that the is moving farther and farther away from the goal they shared of finishing college. Despite the inheritance from her parents, Coco has always had a strong work ethic so Sam is surprised that she has chosen to remain holed up instead of attempting to return to the world of the living. It takes the encouragement from someone older and wiser than Coco to coax her our of her shell of depression, but she learns the hard way that people don’t always have the best intentions. Facing heartbreak and feeling lost all over again, she calls the business of her previous internship and asks if they have available positions. Surprisingly they have an available position in England. Determined to work hard and make her own success, Coco is grateful for her inheritance, but only sees it as a means to help her get closer to accomplishing her goals and has no intentions off of living indefinitely off of their money. She quickly realizes ow much she likes her job in England, and forms a good friendship with her boss Leslie. When Leslie invites her to a house party she feels obligated to go. She is surprised to meet such a welcoming and charismatic man, Nigel, at the party and Is instantly drawn to him. Nigel seems to know everything about everyone and broadens her horizons by introducing her to the most magical places and experiences possible. Although he is open and honest with her from the very beginning, she has a lot to learn about him and realizes that perhaps she should’ve listened to Sam’s advice. Still living in America, Sam is following in his father’s footsteps at the family business and is miserable. More than ever he feels obligated to life a lifestyle that his mother wants for him since his siblings have rebelled and have caused such tension within his family. Coco urges him to follow his dreams and find something and someone that make him happy because she feels like he is simply settling when he could and deserves so much more. In contrast, Sam warns Coco that sometimes simplicity, comfort, and reliability are more important than the flash and the highly passionate lifestyle she leads. They both agree that they feel too young to get married and have babies, so at least that’s one thing they still have in common. While Coco continues to make mistakes, she grows up learning from harsh experiences and becomes a better and stronger person from it. She makes poor decisions that threaten to destroy her stability, but at least realizes that she has to stand strong if she really wants her dreams of love and success to come true. Feeling pressured from his family in America, Sam makes decisions to please the highly respected people in his community, and most especially by his mother. Admittedly his life isn’t what he wanted, but he at least feels like he’s honoring his family. When they are both surprised by finding out they were going to be parents at a much earlier age than either of them had planned, they still remain supportive of the choices they have each made in their own lives. When tragedy strikes Coco and her child, Sam is right by her side to try to help her survive another potential disaster. Although Coco wasn’t finished making poor decisions yet, at least she feels like she’s starting to make better decisions. Just as Sam supported her in her grief and tragedies, she was also there for him when an unexpected death and other decisions threaten to destroy him as well. Through the best and worst choices that each of them made, their friendship never faltered, and they were their for one another to help them each learn the truth and find the happiness they both longed for. Thank you Danielle Steel, Delacorte Press (an imprint of Random House and a division of Penguin Random House, LCC), and Netgalley for allowing me to read All That Glitters. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion. I sat at home all day and read it in one sitting because it was so engrossing that I couldn’t put it down! |

This was such a wonderful book, reminiscent of books similar to her older ones. It was a lovely story and kept me turning the pages to the ending. The main character was a strong young lady who overcame the obstacles in her life. I highly recommend it. |
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. I have been a fan of Danielle Steele books for years and this one did not disappoint. Coco had everything a girl could want. The summer before her senior year in college, her life changed forever. She went looking for love in all the wrong places. This book was well written. I cant wait to read her next book. |
Danielle Steel is not just the iconic name she is a legend. All That Glitters is her latest book, and man the woman still has mad skills. I loved everything about this book it is AMAZING!! |
I loved this book! It is a well written story that pulled me in right from the beginning. It also took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. This is one of my favorite by this author and I always look forward to seeing what is next for her. I had no issues connecting with the characters. This is a fast paced story that is engaging and kept me turning pages to the end. I loved watching the characters grow throughout the story. I highly recommend this book and this author. |
Sometimes we need a break from the chaos of real life. Cute and sassy with a happily ever after, Danielle Steel’s “All That Glitters” provided me with that. Filled with sadness, deceit, love, friendship, and even death this book drew me in from the beginning. Another well written easy read as I have come to expect from Steel. |
To me Danielle Steel can do no wrong. I've been reading her books every since I was 12 years old. (Probably shouldn't have been) and All that Glitters is no different. Granted Steel does have a typical MO for her books, and usually that bothers me, but with her books its like coming home to something familiar and comforting. In this book we deal with Nicole (Coco for short) and like Danielle's previous book, there is a tragedy. It leads Coco to try and cope with the loss and it also leads her to make some bad choices at least romantically. However, as always there is a happy ending which I love that Steel always does. As usual its her characters are very well developed, likeable and relatable. It was easy to connect with them and get invested in their story. Another great one! Thank you netgalley, Random House, Ballantine and Delacorte Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion |

Sam and Coco have been best friends all their lives, starting at a very young age. When tragedy strikes Coco's family, she is left alone to maneuver her way through her twenties with the added "burden" of a large inheritance. Between the lure of the inheritance and her naivete, Coco is taken advantage of by three men before she smartens up. As per usual with Ms. Steel's novels, the outcome is fairly predictable. It is a fast, easy clean read, I found it to be enjoyable. Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own. |
Danielle Steel evoked so many emotions from me in All That Glitters. This is the story of Nicole “Coco” Martin, a young lady is the only child or two parents who think the world of her. Her graduation from a prestigious university is fast-approaching, and the world is her oyster. What could possibly go wrong? But something does go wrong, and now Coco must make decisions that she is not equipped to handle. This story follows her journey, her mistakes, and her triumphs. It is a hard book to put down. I found myself extremely upset with Coco throughout most of the book while also feeling a sense of sadness and empathy for her situation. A bird in the hand beats two in the bush. Coco had to travel this journey to find out what is important in life. Do not let the fact that this might me categorized as a romance novel stop you from reading this book. It is a great read, and there are some important lessons to be learned. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book. |
Reading Danielle Steele always feels like wrapping myself in a warm blanket. I often turn to these new releases in between "heavier" reads and it always seems to fit the bill. All That Glitters is no exception. It is a very formulaic set up and you see the end very clearly right from the beginning. Regardless.....It still has romance, luxury, heartbreak and friendship - all great Steele elements. #NetGalley #AllThatGlitters |
