Wow, Emma Lord really knows how to mix angsty teen romance with some intense family drama! I didn’t end up loving this one quite as much as When You Get the Chance but it was still overall an enjoyable read.

I love the best friends to lovers trope and I really liked the relationship between Abby and Leo but I wish there had been a bit more to their transition from friends. They were cute together but I guess I just wanted a bit more romantic chemistry. (But maybe that’s because this is YA instead of an adult romance?)

My favorite part was definitely Abby and Savannah getting to know each other and developing a relationship. Their slow and sometimes messy bonding was so sweet and fun to watch. I do wish there had been more to the camp setting though. So much opportunity for fun camp scenes and shenanigans and I feel like a lot of it was glossed over.

The family drama was… uhhh I don’t want to give spoilers but I had some serious issues with the parents and what went down between them. That’s all I’ll say here but feel free to DM me if you want to talk because I have thoughts! Unfortunately that messed with my enjoyment of the book a bit at the end because it’s what the whole plot is based around.

I really like Emma Lord’s writing and despite these issues this was still a cute and heartfelt story. Looking forward to her next one!

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Didn't capture my attention and engagement. Interested in trying it again though and hopefully it will take.

Emma lord is one of my new favorite authors. I am completely obsessed with all of her silly and quirky “romance” novels. They are definitely good for almost any age, even though her characters are usually young! Definitely reminds me of my first crushes when I was younger!

I really liked Lord’s first book “Tweet Cute” and I thought her sophomore release would have more of the vibe of insane, over-worked teenagers who are striving for the best. Except it wasn’t. Because Abby, our lead, is nowhere near as motivated or driven as you might think. Her sister, however, which she finds through a DNA test, totally is. And for the entire book, Abby will gaslight you into thinking her sister Savvy is vapid, a narcissist, and a joke for caring for her Instagram. Wow. I thought we were over writing Not Like Other Girls trope. But I guess I’m wrong. Just as wrong as Abby’s best friend who lied to her about their other mutual friend Leo liking Abby. Wow. I didn’t think I’d be so bored by this book but I was and that’s such a shame because I think Emma Lord had such a breakout debut.

With a healthy dose of teen angst, relatable characters, and a lighthearted romance, You Have A Match is a fun romantic comedy that's perfect for teens and adults. It's a great option for a holiday read, especially during the month of February, or something to welcome the warmth spring and summer. Emma Lord is definitely setting herself up as the Queen of (Fun) Teen Romance.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is my 2nd book by this author. I quite enjoyed the summer camp setting. This is a book I read in 1 day.

Fantastic romantic comedy, perfect light read for a holiday or if you need an escape. Cute characters and adorable story line.

You Have a Match is packed full of reasons for teenage angst. Too much though, it felt to heavy and there was no resolution that felt complete.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.

I'm currently clearing out all of the books that were published in 2019-21 from my title feedback view!

YOU HAVE A MATCH is yet another gold star from Emma Lord (who's quickly rising to become one of my favourite, insta-buy authors!).

With a premise like THE PARENT TRAP, combined with a heavy dose of summer-camp antics, Lord's signature culinary descriptions (my favourite!!), and a compelling friends-to-lovers romance, YOU HAVE A MATCH is everything one needs for a light -- and yet compelling -- late-Spring/early-Summer read.

Though, as many reviewers here have mentioned, it is no TWEET CUTE -- that book, in my opinion, was like lightning in a bottle! -- it's no less fun or flirty, and the summer camp setting adds such a great, descriptive undercurrent to the story.

Emma Lord really knows how to craft a story, and I CANNOT WAIT to read her next YA title!

I did not care for this book. I have read much of Emma’s books in the past but this one just felt disconnected. It was very much like the Parent Trap but didn’t seem well rounded or put together. I thought the subplot about photography was interesting, but this just wasn’t for me.

Honestly I don’t have an interest in reading this book anymore and I want to be more selective with what I request.

DNF - 9% - I’m just not vibing with this main character. Her voice just has this really frantic tone to it and it’s hard for me to read.

Lord has once again written a beautiful story of sisterhood and friendship. It is hilarious and the romance is very sweet.

3.5 stars -- I really enjoyed this one (I also did the audiobook in tandem).. The summer camp setting was fantastic. I'm always a sucker for that. I thought it was a really touching story of newfound sisters (while I also kind of felt it was a little outlandish how they were separated). I loooved the cute friend to lovers romance and wanted to make them smush their heads together and kiss like I did with my Barbies many many decades ago.

Heheh I am a sucker for cute YA romance novels. I usually end up cringing a lot because I am no longer a young adult and young love is so cringey to me now, but I still got butterflies and felt happy while reading this one.

A beautifully written story woven together with so many messages. This is a story about grief, communication, growth, and taking chances. A very powerful book that all teens should read. It will push them to look inward and think about what they want for themselves.

This book was a cute and enjoyable read but for me personally there wasn't a ton that made it stand out from a typical rom com style book. I would say however that it is pretty heartwarming and has aspects that also make it more of a coming of age novel. The relationships between the sisters and how they grow to learn about and love each other, is definitely a highlight of the novel for me. The romance side pans out a little differently than I thought it was going to as well. Overall I would say this was an enjoyable and easy read that went fast for me and I was glad to have the chance to read it!

After reading Tweet Cute, I immediately added Emma Lord's next release to my TBR. While I didn't love this one as much as her first release, I'm still looking forward to reading more of her books in the near future.

While this book is a bit disappointing to me, I want to talk about what I did enjoy. I loved the writing, which is something I loved in Tweet Cute. Emma Lord’s writing flows so nicely and is extremely easy to read. The time passes because you’re enjoying the overall flow of her words.

I also really enjoy the humour. Emma Lord is really great at adding in pop culture references and a lot of humourous moments that you can’t help but giggle. There’s nothing better than having a nice laugh, especially when real life is chaotic.

While I enjoyed the writing and the humour, the rest of the book falls flat for me. The plot just wasn’t as enjoyable to me as Tweet Cute. The premise was perfect, the influence of The Parent Trap is clearly there, but the execution just wasn’t for me.

The characters really drive a story for me and I just really didn’t feel a strong attachment to these characters. While I enjoyed their overall story, and am pleased with how things ended, they just didn’t grab my attention as much as I wanted.

I also found the romance to be extremely underwhelming. Even if the romance isn’t supposed to be the main focus, it still needs to make sense. And while I’m all for slow-burn romance, it just didn’t work for me in this book. I just really wanted more.

Overall, it wasn't my favourite of Emma Lord's books, but I'm looking forward to reading her next release When You Get the Chance — I have high hopes it'll work for me!
