It's hard to do a full review of this book seeing as it's just a taster, but from these first few chapters I have read I have really enjoyed. It's very easy to read, and it's the sort it book that tries to get me thinking from the detectives point of view! I have a feeling I will really enjoy the full book of this. |

I loved the idea of this novel and was really getting into the plot when the taster ran out. Genuinely excited for when the book is published. I think it will make an excellent read and a good Christmas present for crime fiction fans. |
DI Walker and his wife Annie have moved to Kirby Abbey, Cumbria to a house her mother left her. A move instigated because of the possible threats to them from released convicted killer Andrew Sullivan. The courts having decided after thirteen months in prison that he was wrongly convicted when another man confessed. But as Christmas approachs they receive a parcel containing a dead bird and a threatening message inside a Christmas card. Threats that there will be twelve deaths during the twelve days of Christmas, deaths of twelve people who deserve to die. Unfortunately I did determine who was the killer, and I really didn't care much for the character of Annie Walker. An ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. |
This was not the full book so it is a bit hard to actually review. Although this was not a full book I did enjoy it and would love to read the full book. It was very interesting from the beginning. Of course I can not comment on the ending because this was just a sample book. but I do believe that it would be a great book based on what I read. |
OMG!!! I can not wait for this book to come out! What an excellent teaser this was! So much suspense and so many suspects that leave us with so many questions. Alex Pine sure does know how to write a thriller and one that is set around the Christmas time is just up my alley. O' please come on release day!!! I am so ready to find out what is going to happen with this one! You will not regret anything about reading this teaser except that it is just that, a teaser!! We need the rest of this one ASAP! I voluntarily read and reviewed this teaser and all opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this teaser to put me in agony until the release! (Just kidding) |

This is the first book in a new detective series.and the debut book of this author. It was an ok read but felt at times it could have been more exciting, however this will not stop me from reading the second book of the series as I think the writing style will improve 3.5 stars |
This was very promising and i love the premise for the book. Sadly, this was only a sampler sow I have to wait to continue on with the reading. Setting a thriller during Christmas is a great idea, and the fast pacing promises a book perfect to read when one wants a time out during busy pre-Christmas times. |
A sample of a new book featuring DI James Walker. Hard to review as only a taster, but looking forward to readIn the rest. Promising storyline. |
This is a teaser for the first book in a new series by Alex Pine . We meet Detective Inspector James Walker. This book included up to Chapter 12 and I cannot wait to read the rest of it. I cannot give a full review because I haven't read the full book but I really enjoyed what I read and will definitely pick up a copy of this book when it releases. |
Good set up to a Christmas cosy murder mystery. The sampler was a really decent length so I had forgotten it wasn’t the full book and was gutted when it suddenly stopped! Looking forward to reading the whole thing. |

A Christmas teaser, which is sure to garner further interest and reading. One can't wait for the book to be released, so we can continue on with this Christmas themed mystery. Something about Christmas and murders, which seem to always get me into the holiday spirit! |

Excellent taster, of which I can tell will be a proper mystery. Well written and great characterisation. Lots of scope for a proper mystery. Can’t wait to see how it ends. |
Thanks to the publishers & netgalley for the early read. WOW ... I was gripped and I want to read the full book now, this was definatley a teaser as the title said. I can't wait to be able to read this in full in October!! |

Crime For Christmas...... A teaser of a new release - crime for Christmas - and the premise is certainly an exciting one. This short sample is a promise of things to come. Looking forward to reading the final release. |
I love/hate teasers cos your just getting into it and it finishes and it leaves you with so many unanswered questions whose sending the cards what secret is annie keeping is Bill dead who will be next? Cant wait to read the full book ☺ |
This is certainly what it states. A teaser. I’m loving the sound of this book and think the full version will be pretty damn good. |
I thought this was a full book (my mistake) It seems interesting so i will wait for the book to come out before reviewing. |
Thanks to NetGalley for a chance to read a “teaser” for this book. Someone doesn’t like DI James Walker. A criminal who gets out of jail is definitely on the list, but there may be others. The problem is, they can’t prove who it is. When he gets a threatening Christmas card saying that there will be several murders, he can’t tell if it is a hoax or an actual threat. Unfortunately, this “teaser” in too short and does not get far enough to totally get me interested, but it shows promise. I guess I’ll have to wait for the rest of the book. |

Although this was just a teaser I can’t say that the story grabbed me. The idea seems ok but I thought after the first day with a partridge, the second day would have French hens ..... etc. But the theme didn’t carry on for me the way I thought it should. Additionally was each card left one day or were the murders going to be one a day? An interesting idea but I didn’t find the first 12 chapters quite gripping enough |
