This is my first time listening to a book by this author. He makes great points that I wish would have been summarized at the end of the chapters in a more concise bulleted/ point form. One of the early points that gripped me was the analogy he made between having stuff that we can't make use of because it's all stored in a muddled pile somewhere (so that what we need is to take time to examine and organize valuable useful things in a way that we can access them) with the issues of our lives, which should be maximised for fruitfulness.
The storytelling style was a bit over the top and long-winded - and this is coming from a person who loves talking and hearing real-life stories. Sometimes I felt disoriented and unsure of what we were supposed to be talking about because the details and comedic tone distracted me and felt like the author was rambling. It was therefore easy to disengage. Perhaps if I was reading this book I might have more easily skimmed or pondered these parts. I was torn between giving this book a 4 or 5 stars. There are great life-enhancing and wise reminders here. I may not buy the book for myself but I would gift it to someone else. I would buy a summary of this book.

This is a great book! I enjoyed Goff reading it as well. I thought it was very well written and enjoyed the audio version of it. It was very motivating.
What a treat!

Listening to Dream Big is like sitting in Bob Goff's house and listening to him tell stories that make you think and ponder the important things in your life, like we have been lifelong friends. This is the third book I have enjoyed of Bob's (see we are on a first name basis) and each time I am excited to hear his words of wisdom, insight and life experiences. You may say this book is in the Christian genre but it has life lessons that apply to all walks of life that are told in such a relatable that makes you believe you can take on the world.

As usual, Bob Goff delivers an uplifting, wholesome, inspiring, and helpful book! This (as the title suggests), encourages the reader to bring their dreams to life in his whimsical, enneagram 7 way!
Threaded with hilarious anecdotes along with sad stories, and a message of hope, basically anyone could gain from reading this book.
The audiobook was read by Bob, which adds an extra element of enjoyment for the listener!
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for this copy of Dream Big by Bob Goff in exchange for an honest review, it published June 23, 2020

I received a free digital audio ARC through NetGalley. I love Bob Goff but was worried this would be different than his other books, more teaching/class like. But it's not. I enjoyed it.

Dream Big is a great reminder that we all have obstacles that hold us back… covid, furloughs, crashed economies, loss, murder hornets… but that we all need to Dream Big! Have you read Bob Goff before? He is very motivational and has spoken here in Nashville.

This book will help you to realize your dreams but then determine a game plan to achieve those dreams! I like that he explains the difference it takes to be a dreamer and a daydreamer. Instead of waiting or worrying what could go wrong… go get it! This is a pretty short and sweet review for a book that packs a lot of positive, great info! If you like motivational books that will get your butt moving, then pick this one up!

A double bonus when reading a book written by Bob Goff is having Bob Goff read that book to you! This audio book does not disappoint and I flew through this book and have now started it for a second time to listen slower and to make more notes after purchasing the hardcopy to follow along. In typical Bob Goff fashion he tells stories and add cute quips and delves into how his life has changed by taking chances, going for the big dreams and stepping out of his comfort zone to reach for that next best thing; whether it is getting the attention of his now wife or a new adventure like sky-diving. Go for it. Bob encourages in only the way he can do go for those seemingly hard to reach goals and to realize they may not be as out of touch as you first thought.

Love that he reads his own book. It would be a huge disappointment to have another narrator read. So glad that Bob did it.

This is my third Bob Goff book, but my first audiobook, and I have to say, I LOVED hearing him read his own words. I feel like all of his books are a warm hug and an inspiration to just DO BETTER and LOVE MORE, and this book was similar in that vein. I'm not sure it was actually a goal-setting book as it purports to be but at the same time, my narrow view of goal setting has been a little bit expanded after reading (listening to) this. Nothing in this book was entirely new, though: it's all been said before. BUT: Bob Goff says it well, and he says it in a way that makes you want to believe it. It's an easy read/listen, and I recommend it (esp in audio format).

I received an electronic audio copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Having listened to Bob Goff’s other books, I was very excited to be able to listen to this one. Bob is easy to listen to, and never disappoints with his amazing and inspiring stories. This book focuses on how to make ones goals a reality. While he does give ideas on how to move towards one’s goals, I found that his focus was more on inspiring one to persevere. No matter how big or small your dreams are, I feel that all with come away with nuggets of wisdom that can be applied to one’s life. I feel I am always better for having spent time with Bob.
My sincere thanks to NetGallyey for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Dream Big by Bob Goff is such an Incredibly timely book as we seek ways to live changed and differently and to amplify the voices around us to make a positive change. This book isn’t simply about pursuing your dreams but about making a difference in this world. It’s about living a life that matters. Mr. Goff gives us practical applications and strategies for living life and engaging with others.

This book encourages the reader to always be learning, always be asking questions, and always trying to make things better. The chapters may be short but they are filled with such wisdom.

Dream Big shares how to:
•define your dreams & life ambitions
•identify what’s holding you back
•come up plan to move forward
•develop tools to take action

Listening to Dream Big was such a great listening experience. It truly felt like I was sitting around the kitchen table with my Uncle or even an old friend while having a deep soul searching conversation. Mr. Goff was witty and most definitely has a way with words. I felt truly uplifted and inspired. The flow of this audiobook was perfect. Although it has a religious core to it any non believer or believer will get a lot from the context.

If you want to Dream Big and get serious about pursuing your most worthwhile ambitions this book is for you!!! Mr. Goff will lead you into a honest conversation with yourself. With a gentle nudge from this book you’ll be on your way to making a difference in not only your life but those of others.

A special thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review. I highly recommend this book!!

Do you know how sometimes you get a book from the library or on audio and start reading only to realize you are absolutely going to need to own said book? This is that book for me. I need a paper copy to make notes, highlight and ponder these words over time. Bob Goff is one of my favorite storytellers and while this lands clearly in the self-help category, it doesn’t feel at all dry or hard. Bob weaves personal stories into instruction in a way that makes the process of goal setting and dream building attainable. Highly recommend.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to listen to this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

I always love when Bob narrates his own books. He is a dynamic story teller, and I enjoy reading his books for the delightful stories he tells. He did not disappoint in Dream Big. It was another book that, though segmented by “to do” steps, still flowed extremely well. It never felt choppy, despite the type of book you’re reading.

While we can squabble about the intricacies of Bob’s theology, the man has a love for people that I admire. Not to mention, his life is just so darn exciting! It’s just a little fun to live vicariously through his adventures.

Unfortunately, this did feel a bit too much like another aimless self-help book. I could find any number of books like this in the overflowing “live your best life” hype section. While Bob did put a bit of a Christian twist in this book, I wish he would have spent a bit more time in the cultivation of walking in obedience. Then again, does Bob ever stay anywhere very long? I’m not sure that would have been his style. All in all, while I liked the idea of this book on the surface, it didn’t land as well as I’d hoped. Bob will always be a dynamic speaker/narrator that has a message worth listening to. If you want more time with Bob, you’ll enjoy this book. If you’re looking for the meat of Bob’s mission, read Love Does.

*I received this book from Netgalley. Opinions are my own original thoughts

I really enjoyed this book! It is easy to glide through life feeling comfortable and avoid taking risks. This book is motivation to look inward, and analyze your true self. What dreams do you have? If you could be doing anything you want , what would it be? How can we obtain our goals and dreams? So much food for thought packed into this book! If you’re feeling restless, or simply looking for change in your life, this book is for you!.

Bob Goff is that amazing family member who thinks the world of you, sees the best in you and believes you can do anything you want to do. We all need at least one of those people in our lives.

Dream Big takes the work Goff's been doing on his podcast and in person courses and writes it all up for us. I am inspired and encouraged reading about his life, it makes me hopeful and think I can try and fail and it might not all work out, but I'm going to be better for it.

Bob talks about knowing "what you want, why you want it and what you're going to do about it". He talks about ambitions and dreams and deciding what you want for your life. He believes God truly loves and delights in people, and that is so encouraging and hope filled. The book has big lessons, heartbreaking stories, encouragement and challenges for you as you pursue your dreams.

What is not to like about this book?

It is Bob Goff!! The most whimsical person I have ever heard or was given the chance to meet once. This man has a way of dumbing down the things I try so hard to overthink into an easy way to understand what God is up to. Don’t forget to Dream Big!

I read the book.
I listened to the audio
I plan to share the need to get this book with all my friends.

Read this book once or twice you won’t be sorry!!

Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read and listen to this book. The review is mine.

Bob Goff is a unique person! His approach to achieving happiness and getting what you want out of life is definitely different than others and a lot more risky. But, the payoff is immense if you follow his lead. I really enjoyed listening to his experiences.

Anything by Bob Goff is an instant bestseller in the Christian self-help world, so if he releases a new book, I'm all here for it. "Love Does" was a total *life-changer* and now, so is "Dream Big." Someone please give this man an award and a hug!

This book - or in my case, audiobook - is a classic personal growth/ motivational guide to aiming to help you specify the what, why, where and how of your goals, as well as what steps to take to make them reality. It doesn't matter if your goals are personal or career-oriented as the advice is pretty universal. Believe me, though, that's it's NOT at all a wishy-washy you-are-great-and-strong- talk; rather, Goff gives you specific and useful advice on what /not/ to do when in doubt. My very favorite part of this book is Goff's writing: he is in equal parts encouraging, assertive, personal and warm. He uses THE BEST possible metaphors and true stories to illustrate his points, and that's something that will stick with me the most.

Goff is also an incredible narrator. It's always a treat when the author narrates their own book.

I'd recommend this (audio)book to anyone looking for a healthy dose of Christian encouragement without it being overwhelming with Biblical verses, as many such books are. There's nothing wrong with that, but if you prefer a more down-to-earth approach, this book is for you.
