The Lawrence’s were the perfect family; successful and beautiful until one night their whole world was ripped apart. Gordon Lawrence kills his entire family and sets the house on fire. But Poppy, his teenage daughter, escapes.

Detective Sergeant Jenna Morgan is called to investigate the suspected arson attack and death of the Lawrence family at the charred remains of their stunning home. As the case progresses, DS Morgan realises she has a calculating, cold-blooded killer on her hands, and the race is on to track them down before they kill again...

I was attracted to this book due to it's intriguing premise and attractive book cover.

The book begins with a bang, which had me excited but as the story progressed there were times when I lost interest and my attention wavered. The characters in the book were okay. While the twists and the action at the end of the book are good, I just wish that there was something more in the middle chapters.

Thank You to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC!

Never a dull moment - what a stunning read! I've already downloaded the first two in series to catch up with.

Called out in the middle of the night, DS Jenna Morgan finds herself attending a house fire so large and intensive that there is no way to know if the residents were at home or not. When bodies are discovered in the ruins, the count doesn't add up to all members of the Lawrence family who lived there; so who is unaccounted for and where are they?

This is an exciting and fast moving story, beautifully crafted, carefully plotted and absolutely packed with action from beginning to end. Personal details are included but nothing takes away from the crime story. There is such a lot happening! As a conscientious officer, Jenna is kept busy as other things need dealt with in her working life, but she never loses sight of the bigger picture. The characters are true to life, the story flows really well and kept me glued all the way through. Thought-provoking and thrilling with a good slice of humour, it adds up to an absolutely superb read. Definitely an author to add to your 'must not miss' read, and I'm delighted to give this all five sparkling stars!

My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley and to Rachel's Random Resources for my spot on this tour; this is - as always - my honest, original and unbiased review.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Boldwood Books for an advance copy of What She Saw, the third novel to feature DS Jenna Morgan of the Shropshire Police.

When the Alexander home goes up in flames Jenna is asked to investigate. The discovery of bodies in the ashes adds to the puzzle of what happened as the count doesn’t match. It seems that someone escaped.

What She Saw is a bit of a mixed bag. It starts with a bang, literally, as a whole family is wiped out. It certainly captures the reader’s attention but the downside to this is that from there on the reader is following Jenna’s catch up on events, rather than participating. And even then there isn’t much catch up with a major chunk of the novel devoted to unrelated investigations.

I think the novel is based on a true incident from a few years ago so I can understand the motive but for a novel billed as a psychological thriller it doesn’t dig into the motive or spend much time with the perpetrator. The novel concentrates on Jenna and her activities as a Detective Sergeant but isn’t really a police procedural either. I must admit I winced when she put her boot on a suspect’s neck.

Having said that I like Jenna on my first meeting with her. She is smart, tough and dedicated and yet, has a softer side with an ability to laugh at herself.

What She Saw is a solid read.

Wow! This is a roller coaster ride of a book!
It started off with an amazing opening chapter, completely hooking me in and grabbing my attention.

From there, we followed a great bit of police procedure, which I thought was ingenious, as sometimes the speed of these investigations in some books are just unbelievably quick. I loved the way they were linked together.

An excellently researched book which I was impressed with too.

All in all, a cracking book, one which I would highly recommend.

Thank you Net Galley for granting this book. I am not normally attracted to crime books but the description of the book tempted me. I was hooked from page one and was holding my breath continuously throughout the book. I feel I should have read Find her alive first as this book What she saw did refer to incidents in the previous book, however, it did not detract from my enjoyment. This is a very fast moving pacy story and all the characters are very absorbing. Would recommend and now intend downloading Find her Alive.

An explosive start is followed by a fast moving storyline. Lots of twists lead to a dramatic conclusion. A good read.

Really enjoyed this like the previous books.
The story was well written and it was different knowing who the main suspect was from the beginning - it was like you were in on the secret.
I thought the ending was good - a little twist which was a shock.
The only thing that could have been better was more could have been made of the drugs story line as it did seem to link in the main suspect.
Could this line be explored more in the next book?

A man has shot all the members of his family before setting fire to the house. A house purchased through ill gotten gains behind the veneer of his estate agent business. His teenage daughter Poppy however, although shot has managed to escape and believes she is to blame for the carnage as she snuck her boyfriend into her bedroom and thinks this was the cause of her father's rage- a man known for being dominant and not nice with it. DS Jenna Morgan now has her sister back with her after she was kidnapped and the case is about to come to court. Meanwhile she is investigating the fire which looks non accidental from the speed and ferocity at which it caught. The next morning getting a coffee for her and a colleague she witnesses something that puts a whole new lead and spark into the day- drugs. I really enjoyed this and loved Jenna. There is a wonderful style of writing and occasional (suitable) humour and couldn't help but smile at Domino having had such a dog! There is a brilliant sense of camaraderie, loyalty and tenacity in the lead characters and I really took to Jenna. This is my first book by this author and will definitely be looking out for more- a comfortable read, a smile and a very well thought out plot.

I loved the opening, it sets the pace for the rest of the book! The author brings you right into the story, and you can feel the girl's terror as her family's fate is revealed.

The characters are well developed, believable, and relatable, and the author has created a wonderful protagonist in DS Jenna Morgan. I loved the chapters with the girl's story, and would have liked to see more interwoven with Jenna's chapters.

The timeline in each chapter heading creates a sense of urgency, the clock ticking as events unroll. With another case coming along at the same time as the original one, there's non-stop action as Jenna and her team deal with both.

Well written with lots of detail and excellent character development, this is a great read that I'd recommend to anyone who likes this genre.

I hate to leave negative reviews but I really did not enjoy this book. It starts off with a great deal of action- a father kills his entire family and sets the house on fire. Then the detective, Jenna; enters the book, and the story just gets boring. Though there is a culmination to the fire/murder story line at the end of the book it's not really surprising or mysterious, and the rest of the book focuses on mundane details and Jenna's interpersonal relationships that have little to do with that plot line.

This story had promise but so much of the book is spent on unnecessary details and/or tertiary plot lines that I found myself skimming pages in order to just get through the book. Sadly, the story never picked up the pace again.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review- I am sorry to say that I will not recommend this one to others.

I enjoyed this book. I happen to live in the area in which it was set, which is always adds an extra layer of interest when reading.

The book begins in a grisly fashion leaving us no doubt as to who the bad guy is. We just need to wait for the police to catch up! Seemingly randomly, they get mixed up in a coincidental drugs bust that just do happens to be linked. I didn’t particularly enjoy the coincidental occurrences in this book- it seemed quite lazy to just happen to have the right people in the right place at the right time.

I liked the central character of DS Jenna Morgan. She was well written and felt realistic, on the whole. All of the police characters seemed well researched and accurately depicted their roles.

I did enjoy this book, but it needed more detective work and less coincidence! Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy of this book.

The opening of this book was amazing, I was immediately hooked and wanted to read more and more, However, the story is unable to keep the momentum and excitement going.
Instead of the huge build up I was expecting, I was left with a sad little whimper.

A well written, fast paced, detailed plot with engaging characters and a good dose of humour this book works as a standalone read. Overall a solid 4* with slightly too much dog for my liking.

After a good opening and a great premise the story fizzled out. With some changes in the narrative it could have been a good psychological thriller but the plot was lost and it fell short for a police procedural. Had me skipping pages. Sorry to the publisher and the author.

After the fantastic opening of this book I thought it was going to be a 'knicker gripper' for me but sadly I was disappointed.

I began to lose interest at almost halfway through and I couldn't gel with the characters unfortunately but I did manage to get to the end.

Thank you to Negalley and Boldwood Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I’m torn on this one. I loved Copycat, the previous novel in this series I recently read, and was looking forward to another absorbing mystery for Detective Jenna Morgan and her team to solve. To be honest, I may not have finished it if I hadn’t committed to a review and my enjoyment of the earlier story. It had a lot of padding and really wasn’t as gripping or tense as I expected. Sorry.
