Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an eARC of this book. It is the second in the William Warwick series and further explores the characters and plot lines from book one. While interesting enough to keep one reading, it is pretty predictable and reads more like a long chapter in a book rather than a stand alone. Still I will read the next.

HIdden in Plain Sight is the second in a series featuring Detective William Warwick. Once again Jeffrey Archer
draws the reader into a mystery full of police investigation and criminal trials. Not only is this book well researched and written , the characters are interesting and the story line moves along quickly. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.I highly recommend this book !

Trouble is brewing at Scotland Yard and William Warwick is on the case. Confronted with drug trafficking and art theft, the criminals are hiding their misdeeds in plain sight. When Warwick realizes that trouble doesn't end when his adversaries are behind bars, he unleashes a plan of attack to keep the police ahead of the chase.

Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Jeffrey Archer crafts a compelling tale for fans of his Clifton Chronicles. Penning a strong and resourceful protagonist, Warwick epitomizes a detective joining the ranks of famed sleuths. Will Warwick put his job on the line when he realizes there's a traitor among the brotherhood or leave the crooked cop "Hidden in Plain Sight?"

Although I had not read the first book in the William Warwick series, I was attracted to this book by the author, Jeffrey Archer, several of whose excellent books I have greatly enjoyed. The Warwick series is not a family chronicle, but a crime fiction series featuring the erudite William Warwick, his Queen’s Counsel father Sir Julian, and junior solicitor sister Grace.

At the beginning of this book, Detective Constable William Warwick is newly-promoted to Detective Sergeant and sent to head a new team to identify the narcotics kingpin of London as well as his “slaughter” or drug manufacturing facility. The detailed steps by which his team uncovers the head criminal involve an old unsavory schoolmate of William’s and other informants.

Meanwhile William’s fiancee Beth, who works at the Fitzmolean Museum, has also been affected by the criminal art exploits of Miles Faulkner, who had managed to pass off a fake art treasure for real, causing a scandal for the Metropolitan Police.

When William's team uncovers a drug delivery to Faulkner’s house through informants, his team painstakingly arranges an operation to prove Miles in involved and may be selling narcotics as well. What intrigued me most here was the legal wrangling in court pertaining to Faulkner’s case and clever cross-examination by William’s sister Grace, which cracked the case. The combination of William’s team building the case against Miles and later, the operation against the narcotics kingpin, coupled with crack legal research was very entertaining.

Although there is a slight cliffhanger at the end of the book, it is not troubling and points to Miles’ last trick. I will surely be looking forward to the next in series.

Sincere thanks to #netgalley for an ARC of #Hidden in Plain Sight

Following Nothing Ventured, this latest story follows Detective William Warwick .on another case.
Written with Jeffrey Archer's usual expertise, the stories are engaging, and the characters very real.
Now working the Drug Squad, Detective Warwick is faced with a worthy opponent, Khalil Rashidi.
On another storyline, Warwicks personal life flourishes. The stage is set for continuing this series

Jeffrey Archer is the best! I love that he took a character that was an invention of his last character, who wrote books, and now is giving us those books! And the books are great! I loved the Clifton Chronicles, and if you started with the Warwick series, be sure and read the Clifton books! Detective Warwick's second book is a continuation of the 1st book, and assume the 3rd book will look to continue the 2nd. Very well done, and look forward to the next. I won't give you any hints, because it would ruin not only this one, but the last one, so suffice it to say, they are well worth reading! Loved them, recommend them highly!

This is the author's second book featuring William Warwick, a man that has chosen a career with Scotland Yard rather than the path his father had been in favor of for him. His father was one of the top attorneys in England and would have gladly taken his son into his practice and helped him rise to the top of that profession. William stuck to his guns and book two finds him earning his first promotion with the police to Detective Sergeant . The new post sees him and his squad reassigned to the Drug division and tasked with the arrest and prosecution of Ahmed Rashidi a top tier drug lord with tentacles throughout south London. In pursuing Rashidi he also becomes involved with Miles Faulkner a very wealthy financier and one also mixed up in the drug world.
While working on police business William is seen moving on with the personal life touched on in book one. Beth, the girl he met while investigating art skullduggery in the first book now becomes his wife. Their honeymoon to Rome is described and much made of Williams leaving his wife behind before the planned trip is complete to return to England to help capture Faulkner. The action provides more insight into Wiliam's commitment to his chosen work. And, of course Beth's understanding that her rival for her husband is his profession.
Faulkner is brought before the court to stand trial for his crimes. William's father is the prosecutor in the case, and is assisted by Wiliam's sister who is given her first chance to question a defendant on trial; doing a commendable job. Mr. Archer provides the reader with a description of the trial's events, the thoughts and actions of both the prosecution and the defense and describes the maneuvering that takes place in any trial that seeks to prove guilt or innocence of a defendant.
It is no surprise when the ending of the novel sets up book three of the series with a small prelude of the basis for the impending police action.

William Warwick is back for another adventure. Written in Jeffrey Archer's recognizable style, this book features Warwick as a married man and soon to be father, who is still solving crimes.

Archer again dazzles his readers with the continuing story of William Warwick and doesn’t disappoint! However he once again leaves us hanging and waiting until next year by dangling another cliffhanger.

Full review to be published online in mid November.

HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT is the second book in Jeffrey Archer's new "Detective William Warwick" series. Warwick has been promoted to Detective Sergeant, but his promotion means that he, along with the rest of his team, has been reassigned to the Drugs Squad. They are immediately tasked with apprehending Ahmed Rashidi, a notorious drug dealer, who operates his extensive network out of South London.

As the investigation progresses, William runs into enemies old and new: Adrian Heath, from his school days, now a street dealer who he convinces to turn informer; and financier Miles Faulkner, who makes a mistake that could finally see him put behind bars. Meanwhile, William and his fiancée Beth enjoy making preparations for their upcoming wedding, though an unpleasant surprise awaits them at the altar. William’s team eventuallycloses the net around a criminal network like none they have ever faced before; and he devises a trap they would never expect, one that is hidden in plain sight.

Recommended for fans of Archer's other UK police procedural series. It was a bit disappointing that the book ended in a cliffhanger, however.

This is the second book of the William Warwick Novels written by Jeffery Archer that chronicles Warwick's rise at Scotland Yard and his battles with an old adversary and some new ones as he is now assigned to investigate high level drug operations. It is a fast read with lots of twists and turns and a surprise ending. One of my favorite authors and series and I look forward to Archer’s next installment.

I enjoyed Archer's look at workings of the investigative side of British law enforcement. It's a fascinating view of how things are done. I enjoyed the characters and the plot progression.

Jeffrey Archer has been one of my favorite authors since the '70s, so I was delighted to be able to read an advance copy of the 2nd installment in Jeffrey Archer's William Warwick series. Once again, the story included both intense police investigations and criminal trials. I also enjoyed learning more about Warwick's family and marriage. The book was very exciting and I could hardly put it down. The police, lawyers and criminals were all very clever and seemed evenly matched. My only disappointment was that the book ended with multiple cliffhangers, similar to the way Archer wrote his Clifton Chronicles. I don't want to wait a year or so to learn what happens.

Archer's fans will not be disappointed in this exciting book. I highly recommend it.

William Warwick has been promoted to Detective Sargent, and he is as dedicated to the force as possible, even with his impending marriage to Beth and the ultimate birth of twins. A couple of sleazy rich guys have come into his focus, and he propels himself straight ahead. Author Jeffrey Archer has a knack for bantering dialogue. It's use here reminds one of his previous novels. Taking down the bad guys involves a series of clever police activity, and lots of teamwork. It's fun to see it unfold. When we get to the end, the question becomes "Is Archer more interested in a sequel or wrapping this one up?" The answer to that cost my review a star.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC.

Thanks netgalley for the arc of the upcoming 2nd book in the William Warwick series. Jeffrey Archer is my all time favorite author, having read all of his books at least once, and some 2 or 3 times.
Though this was not his strongest effort, I will be happy to recommend this book.

I love Jeffery Archer novels and this one did not disappoint. Sadly I have not read the first book in the series, but was able to read as a stand alone book. I look forward to the next one in the series because the stage had been set!

A welcome addition to the series, Jeffrey Archer, a master storyteller, continues to flesh out the character of William Warwick in a well-designed story.

An interesting read with William Warwick taking a role in jailing his wily nemesis Sebastian Faulkner. His wedding to Beth was almost ruined by this evil enemy. This will be an ongoing feud and I’m sure there will be many more Warwick novels to follow.

Enjoyable, lots of twists and turns. Great way to spend a weekend.

Thank you Netgalley for this read.
