This is the fourth book in the Harbor City series, and while I hadn’t read the previous books I was able to dive into this one without any problems. I enjoyed this one so much I’ll for sure be going back to read the rest of the series though!

Our leading lady, Hadley Donavan has to go home to Nebraska for her sister’s wedding, something she is not looking forward to….because, well family can be a lot. Thanks to some poorly-timed food poisoning and a bit of conniving, instead of her best friend turning up to be her buffer, his brother shows up. And oh how she loathes every smokin’ hot inch of him. How two brothers (and twin brothers at that) can be so different is beyond her. But somewhere amidst all the pre-wedding events and family chaos, Will starts to shift from annoying to alluring.

This book was really fun, and y’all know how much I love an enemies to lovers trope, plus this book also has the one-bed situation which always spells trouble (in the best possible way)! I also thought the two main characters had great chemistry and there was lots of sassy dialogue (both spoken and internal), which I always enjoy. I’m not going to lie, there were a few times I wanted to slap the characters for doing dumb things, but there were also a lot of laugh-out-loud moments as well.

The book is told from both Hadley and Will’s points of view, which is great because you get to know what each of them is thinking, be a part of their ‘ah ha’ moments and see where they’re having miscommunications too.

In addition to really enjoying the main characters, I really loved Hadley’s family as well. Funny, sweet, no-nonsense folk I’d love to spend a weekend with. This is a great feel-good romance you should definitely check out.

The Wedding Date Disaster
By Avery Flynn

A fun enemies to love trope about a small town girl pretending to have made it with a perfect life and a boyfriend in tow. I thought the writing was fun and engaging with some lovely laugh out loud moments. I found that the characters had good chemistry and great banter. I enjoyed the secondary characters and Hadley's family and the attraction between Hadley and Will was just mesmerizing. Overall an enjoyable book and a fun escape read I had fun reading.

This is a cute in where Hadley Donavan needs a date for her sisters wedding and is expecting her best friend Web, but instead Will his identical twin brother is duped into going, Web is fed up of his brother and his best friend being at odds and hopes this trip sorts everything out.

Hadley has a big heart and has never known why Will has never liked her and when he tells he he thinks she is a gold digger and wants Web for his money she just ignores him and acts her usual self, to which Will finds intoxicating and falls hard for her.

It is only a missunderstanding (of course) aftermath getting together and starting being a couple that has Will reading and not letting Hadley talk and set him straight. In the end when they are back in Boston, it is Webb who acts as facilitator and best friend and brother to get the stubborn people in his life back together, though Will does his best to stuff up again.

Its a sweet romance, and PawPaw and his friends certainly seem like great secondary characters. I'm hoping down the line that Web gets a book too and that Hadley sister gets a HEA too.

Hadley has enlisted her BFF Web to accompany her as her pretend boyfriend and date for her sister's wedding. When Web gets food poisoning, his twin brother Will shows up to take his place as Hadley's date. Will is convinced Hadley is a gold digger, and he is determined to keep her away from Web. The problem is that he begins to wonder if he maybe misjudged her as the sparks begin to fly proving that there is a thin line between hate and love.

Cute hate to love romance.

The Wedding Date Disaster is a fantastic fake dating, twin swap, and enemies to lovers romantic comedy. Hadley has been faking her lifestyle to her family, so when her sister's wedding requires her to come home, she enlists her best friend to pose as her boyfriend. Well, Will is Hadley's best friend's twin brother and take his place when he gets sick before the trip. Hadley and Will do not have a good relationship, but at the same time, they secretly lust after each other. As the journey evolves, Will and Hadley find out that they have a lot of misconceptions about each other as well as secrets from Hadley's family. Their attraction jumps off the page, and Hadley's family is so much fun! I enjoyed this read.

Hadley and her best friend Web’s twin brother Will have been at odds since the moment they met. As far as Hadley is concerned, Web is the good twin and Will is the evil twin. Web gets tired of his brother and his best friend constantly sniping at each other and decides to take action.

Feigning food poisoning, Web tells Will that he will need to fill in for him as Hadley’s fake boyfriend at Hadley’s sister’s wedding. Will reluctantly agrees to the scheme, much to Hadley’s displeasure when she finds out. Can two “enemies” get past their fears and realize that they are really perfect for each other?

I love a good pretending to be lovers and them falling in love story, but I just couldn't get into this one. There was zero chemistry between the characters and the dalogue was often cringey. I found myself actively rolling my eyes several times. Honestlky, I skimmed through most of the last quarter, I just wasn't feeling it.

Overall I quite enjoyed this book, it was a light fun summer read. I did like Hadley and Will and they certainly were entertaining but they also annoyed me a little bit. Almost all of their inner monologue seemed to be how much they hated the other person but ooo look at how hot their ass is at the same time. Will also really started to bug me with constantly thinking Hadley was a gold-digger with literally no evidence. All that being said it was still a fun read and I loved all of their interactions with her family, especially when they first go to see Paw Paw.

A very enjoyable enemies to lover story. Hadley and Will do not get along. He thinks she is after his twin brothers money but is attracted to her regardless. She calls Will the evil twin and is so frustrated by him. But is attracted to him regardless. Their chemistry is undeniable and will curl your pages. The road to HEA is a fun, bumpy one, and I'm hoping for a bool about Web.

Hadley Donavan is a Nebraska girl who left the ranch to live in the “big” city. She’s been working and loves her job, but her best friend’s brother shows up to an event that will make or break her next promotion. They are arguing, but end up getting caught kissing in the coat check and Hadley gets fired instead of getting a promotion.

Will Holt is a man who has been hurt by gold-diggers in the past. He is attracted to Hadley but refuses to admit it. He’s talked himself into hating her and treats her like shit. He is determined to get her away from his brother, Web, and prove that she’s just after his millions.

Web is supposed to be Hadley’s wedding date for her sister’s wedding in Nebraska. She wants a buffer so that her family won’t ask too many questions and she can have an excuse to not spend too much time with them. Unfortunately, Will ends up attending when Web gets food poisoning. Hadley is furious but has no choice but to deal with him for the week that they are in Nebraska.

I can’t say that I read too many haters-to-lovers romances and now I know why. I don’t like them. I don’t like that the “heroes” always end up treating the heroines like crap and it just makes it harder for them to redeem themselves. In this story Will really liked Hadley, but was jaded by his past and couldn’t believe that she was just friends with his brother. Because of this he was just mean to her, for most of the book (he was nice for about a chapter), I might add, and his groveling at the end didn’t redeem him in my eyes. He was an idiot up until the last couple of pages before the epilogue. Yeah, no, that doesn’t work for me.

I found Hadley annoying. She did get better once she got around her family, thank heavens, but even then, I didn’t really understand her. I get that she had portrayed her life in the city as perfect in order to prove to her family that she could make it. I get that she didn’t want too many questions asked by her family and that’s why she brought a buffer. But really? Hadley’s family was amazing and not the judgmental family I expected. They were not the type of family that needed things to be perfect – they were supportive no matter what. So her growing up in that family but yet not knowing them at all? Just weird. The puzzle pieces didn’t fit for me.

Unfortunately this was not a fun read for me and I found myself skimming a lot because there was a metric ton of introspection, which just got old after a while. I think I’m in the minority when it comes to my feelings on this book so you judge for yourself whether it works for you or not. For me, that would be not.

Now that was fun! Just a plain, old-fashioned enjoyable read about 2 protagonists falling in love. It's fun, easy and good.

I received an ARC to prepare my review.

Hadley needs her best friend as her wing man to a family wedding but for some reason his twin brother that she deems evil shows up instead. As if this family occasion wasn't already going to be a stress now shes got to deal with him. After what he's been though Will is convinced that his brothers "Best Friend" Hadley is indeed after his money and needs to figure out a way to break things off and get rid of her. First step is to take his brothers place and keep them separated learn a bit about her and figure out how best to break things off between the two.

I love a good enemies to lover kinda book and this book was just perfect for me. I loved seeing the push and pull between the two. You can see Hadley was a genuine friend to Wills brother but he was just so convinced that she was a gold digger which was unfortunate. Then theres the whole romance that was blooming between the two you just can't help but root for them because its clear they both are really good people but Will has been left jaded from his past that he can't help but see the worst in others. It was nice seeing him soften towards her family and Hadley gave as much as she got with a bit of mischief. Things are not going to be easy for the two but it was just fun to watch how things turn out in this book.

This review’s gonna be short and sweet.

Contrary to the title, this book was anything but a disaster haha. In fact, I really enjoyed reading it. the characters were likeable, the book itself surprisingly deep/emotional (I was expecting it to be more light-hearted, but honestly? I think I liked it better the way it was) and a heck of a lot of fun!

I didn’t really get a good look at the cover until now - how cute is the cover?! I love the colour scheme! (Especially the hot pink).

Hopefully Avery Flynn carries this on for maybe another book or two (different protagonists though - Ooh maybe Web and Hayley’s sister?!) because I really wouldn’t mind diving back into these characters/their world.

more like 2.5 but rounding up.

i.... am not quite sure what to say.
i love avery flynn. i love her books. i've only read, like, 8? maybe? and all of them have been solid, know-exactly-what-you're-getting-and-love-it books. i expected the same from this one. and i did not get that, and i am super disappointed.

right from the first chapter, i was confused and disconnected from the characters - we're kind of thrown right in there and i think it would have worked better with a little bit more back story/development before anything happened. i like the build up. her most recent ice knights one starts with a bang but worked well - this one didn't. the gold digger thing went on for way too long and the way that the typical almost at the end conflict happened just didn't seem believable to me, that he would misunderstand that or assume what he did. i also never really understood or got the enemies to lovers angle... it's my favourite! my catnip! but again, think it could have benefited from a bit of backstory/build up. and what was with the ex boyfriend showing up? so confused.

overall, not a fan. if it had been another author, i would have DNF'd or rated it 2 stars. but i could see the potential and i do love avery flynn and there were some cute/steamy moments i liked, i just wanted and expected more. i'll still read her backlog and try her next one, i just hope the next one works better for me than this one did.

The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn is a contemporary romance. Hadley cannot believe she has to go home to Nebraska for her sister’s wedding. She wants a wingman and a whole lot of vodka for this level of family interaction. Her bestie Web agreed he’d man up and help. Too bad he had to catch a different flight, then his plane got delayed, and finally (because bad things always happen in threes) instead of my best friend, his evil twin strolls out of the airport. If you looked up doesn’t-deserve-to-be-that-confident, way-too-hot-for-his-own-good billionaire in the dictionary, you’d find a picture of Will Holt. He’s awful. Horrible. The worst—even if his butt looks phenomenal in those jeans. Ten times worse? My buffer was supposed to be there to keep me away from the million and one family events. But Satan’s spawn just grins and signs us up for every. Single. Thing. Fine. “Cutthroat” Scrabble? I’m in. I can’t wait to take this guy down a notch. But somewhere between Pictionary and the teasing glint in his eyes, our bickering starts to feel like more than just a game.

The Wedding Date Disaster is an enjoyable read with a good number of moments that made me cringe for the characters- in the very best way. Hadley is a planner in the charity circuit, and while she loves her job she does not love the way she is treated. She wants to branch out and start her own business, as soon as money is no longer an issue, but that does not seem in the near future. Her best friend Web, and his twin brother Will, have plenty of money- but Had wants to stand on her own two feet. Sadly, Will has decided that she is a gold digger- and thus the explosive animosity blooms. I loved wanting Hadley and Will both fight the attraction and cling to the animosity they have in order to protect their own hearts. This made the relationship feel like a slow burn, even though the heart of the book takes place in a single week. I also liked that we got the perspectives from both Will and Hadley, it allowed me to have a much fuller picture of how everyone was feeling, and what mistake was coming to throw a wrench in the works. I thought that while the majority of the book was fairly light, the moments that touched on the painful pasts they both had help to make them both more understandable in their fears and coping mechanisms. I just made them more real to me. I also greatly enjoyed the secondary characters, and hope to read more about Hadley's family and Web at some point in the future.

The Wedding Date Disaster is a fun enemies to lovers romance with heat and heart. Fans of the author and plenty of "we really shouldn't/ this is a bad idea" will especially enjoy the read.

This was a great enemies to lovers romance. The push and pull between Hadley and Will was fun and frustrating and sexy. Will thought Hadley was trying to get his twin brother Web’s money. So Will did everything in his power to hate Hadley. Hadley was going to her sister’s wedding and Web was her plus one. But at the airport, Will appeared, not Web. It was too late for Hadley to back out so she begrudgingly went to her family’s farm with Will. Their constant bickering turned into more. They were hot together until it wasn’t. I loved this story. I loved Hadley’s family. This was a cute romance that you can’t go wrong with.
