I loved Cam and Lissa! Cam is big alpha male who has some serious baggage - and thinks he doesn't deserve love or happiness. He is the co-owner of a global security company based in Boston. He is a serious caregiver though - he seems to do everything he can to support the people he loves. When the book starts he is on the verge of getting engaged to a woman it is clear he really isn't in love with.

Lissa is an emergency room doctor who works incredibly hard. She just got out of a bad relationship with another doctor who seems like a serial cheater. She grew up with Cam's family after her parents died in a car crash. Cam was already out of the house by the time she moved in.

They reconnect when Cam gets engaged - and really connect on a new level when Cam finds his fiance cheating on him and needs Lissa to stitch him up after the fight.

There are a lot of moments of predictability in this book - Cam pushing Lissa away because he isn't good enough for her - Lissa being in danger. But the story is extremely engaging and has a lot of true strong emotion. Cam's history is really difficult to read - and deserves a content warning for <spoiler>child sexual abuse and suicide</spoiler>. Lissa's experience with her stalker is also particularly terrifying because of the nature of it.

The only thing that kept this from being a five star read for me was Cam's insta love for Lissa. It seemed to come out of the blue - even for a romantic suspense like this. I think some more time could have been spent showing their past connection to support the present love.

But overall - this is a great read that i couldn't put down!

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

Lissa has loved Cam from afar for as long as she remembered - watching him with his perfect society fiance is just par for the course for her unrequited crush. But when he shows up to comfort her and then shows up for stitches - her unrequited crush becomes much more.

Fast-paced, steamy as heck and right on target for another TSI book (can't wait for more!). Liss is a great heroine with a giant heart who holds Cam accountable for being an idiot. Cam is bold and brave and hotter than sin. I wasn't totally sure how to take his about-face with his emotions but he was all in once he admitted them - I do love when a romance hero actually acknowledges his faults and his feelings. There was a great twist with the suspense aspect of the book that I definitely did not see coming and added more weight to the depth of the book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
