Baking Day with Anna Olson is one of the most comprehensive and well-organized cookbooks on baking I have ever come across. The layout and design of this book makes it easy to follow and find a perfect recipe to make. Anyone new to baking or those looking for a fun activity to do with kids will appreciate the interesting and easy to follow recipes.

When a recipe book has a fantastic flow and is easy to navigate, I am in love. This book contains a multitude of images, as well as a guide at the beginning that explains the various icons that are used in the book. You can quickly find the level of difficulty of any recipe and whether it is vegan or gluten free. The pièce de résistance, however, is the entire section at the start of the book that has images to go along with each recipe and how long it should take to create them.

❀ INFORMATIVE AND DOWN-TO-EARTH

For some reason, a tools and equipment list is something I have come to really appreciate at the start of a cookbook, and this one is really extensive. Anna Olson has always had an informative and down-to-earth approach, so I am not surprised at the detail in this book. If you have enjoyed her other books, then this is one to add to your shelf as well.

❀ FUN AND EXCITING FOR KIDS

There are so many things to love about Baking Day with Anna Olson, including the fact that it is useful for any skill level. Also, if you enjoy baking with kids, there are a lot of fun and exciting recipes to try, including cupcake tops and pet treats. I have been wanting to try quite a few of these recipes and I look forward to making some of the tea time treats. It is a perfect gift for any baker on your gift giving list this year!

I flipped through the first fifty pages of the galley and stopped, realising I wanted to own this book and go through it slowly. Another winner from Anna Olson.

Anna Olson's newest cookbook is a must-have for any baker. Cookies, cakes, and more - it's all in here, with clear instructions and mouth-watering photographs. The whole grain pancakes are now on constant brunch rotation in our house, and I look forward to baking my way through the rest of the book over the winter months.

A great resource for both seasoned baker and brand new ones! Easy to follow recipes and lots of pictures (a cook book must!), Baking Day with Anna Olson is all about making delicious goodies with your loved ones. I really liked that she included a mix of Vegan and Gluten Free recipes (or added notes on how to make recipes this way) so that all types of eaters can enjoy this book.

BAKING DAY WITH ANNA OLSON brought back fond memories of my own baking days.
The were a good number of recipes to look at as well as the introductory chapters.
There is a rating system which lets you know how complex the recipe is going to be. Depending on the recipe there are special notes included as well as dietary information.
The next best thing to baking a recipe is looking at the scrumptious pictures in a cookbook. The photography was excellent.
I am looking forward to seeing the finished book.
It would make a great gift for the baker in your life.
Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada for the opportunity to review an advance edition of BAKING DAY WITH ANNA OLSON.

When life for the entire universe and planet turns on its end and like everyone else you "have nothing to do" while your place of work is closed and you are continuing to be in #COVID19 #socialisolation, superspeed readers like me can read 250+ pages/hour, so yes, I have read the book … and many more today. And it is way too hot to go outside, so why not sit in from of the blasting a/c and read and review books?? BTW - stay home and save lives!!!!!!!! No tan is worth dying for.

I requested and received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review.

From the publisher, as I do not repeat the contents or story of books in reviews, I let them do it as they do it better than I do 😸.

Canada's baking sweetheart, Anna Olson, returns with an essential guide to baking for and with those you love.

Baking Day is the book we have all been waiting for. In this new cookbook, Anna Olson encourages you to spend time with your loved ones, baking along with her easy-to-follow, delicious recipes for all your favourite treats. This is a cookbook to bring family and friends together, and to bond over quality time spent baking. With over 120 recipes for all skill levels, there is a baking project in Baking Day for everyone.

Anna helps you find the right recipe by marking each one with difficulty level, necessary time commitment, required tools, and modifications for allergies or dietary restrictions. Anna's savoury and sweet recipes are suitable for every level of home baker, as she encourages you to challenge yourself and develop new skills in the kitchen. Her voice is truly encouraging, as she coaches you through each step, hoping to pass on the expertise she has learned throughout her 20-year career. She is especially mindful of her younger readers, or those of you baking with kids, making sure to point out the most important details for younger budding bakers. Step back from the craziness of life and connect with those you love over shared time in the kitchen. Very soon, "baking day" will become your favourite day of the week.

Try making your own "Gourmet Goo" Skillet Brownies, Classic No-Bake Vanilla Cheesecake with Raspberry Coulis, or Toffee Pretzel Baklava. Anna also brings together comforting classics including Dutch Baby, Giant Glazed Cinnamon Bun, and her Signature Chocolate Chip Cookies, and recipes to show your loved ones how much you care--breakfast in bed for Father's Day, maybe, or a special homemade birthday cake for your best friend. There are even treats for your pets!

My mom always speaks of "baking day" when she grew up when her mother made cakes and pies and cookies and brownies - all fuel to keep my farmer husband/mom's father for his long farming days. My mom did not have a sweet tooth then but ate what was put in front of her...a habit that led me to have mustard on anything I did not like when I was a kid.

My parent's 65th wedding anniversary is this weekend so I will be making the "Gourmet Goo" Skillet Brownies to take along with me: like every other recipe in this book, it is scrumptious, looks enticing and written to be understood by cooks of all levels. Anna is an amazing Canadian and an amazing baker and this book belongs on every cookbook shelf - it comes out in late October so it is out there for holiday gift-giving time. Wrap it in a tea towel as there are never enough tea towels, trust me!

As always, I try to find a reason to not rate with stars as I love emojis (outside of their incessant use by "🙏-ed Social Influencer Millennials/#BachelorNation survivors/Tik-Tok and YouTube Millionaires/etc. " on Instagram and Twitter... Get a real job, people!) so let's give it 🥧🧁🍪🍩🎂
