Untold Mayhem is a nice collection of horrific, disturbing, and creative short stories. The narrator changes each story, and each voice seems well-suited to each story.

I enjoyed this book of short stories, although fair warning: They aren't for the faint of heart. Some of them get pretty dark. When I say short stories, I mean short stories. I think the average story was about 15 minutes long or so, so they were perfect to listen to because you were never far from finishing one. Sometimes in an audiobook, it's hard to find a good stopping point. With these, though, you were only ever about 7-10 minutes away from the end of a story, so they were easy to start and stop in progress. That was super convenient.

There were several different narrators for the stories, and I really liked most of them. There was only one that I didn't really care for. He just didn't fit with the theme. He was too upbeat for the stories he was telling. The rest of the narrators were perfect. I loved the pacing. I kept the audiobook playing on 1.25 speed for most of the book, and that was just right for me.

I loved - loved - the story about the cop who ends up in a store during a robbery. (Sorry, I tried to find a story list so that I could list the title, but I can't find one online anywhere.) That one was particularly amazing. The story about the artist's blind date was also spine-tingling.

As I said, these were dark stories, and most of them were not supernaturally dark, although there were a few supernatural elements thrown in. Mostly, these were stories about the darkest parts of human nature, and as we all know, that can get very dark. I was definitely creeped out listening to some of these, but in a good way. All in all, I liked this collection.

Audio book from Netgalley. This one had a good mix of thriller, crime, and violent horror stories. I really enjoyed some more than others but I think overall the mix was great. Looking back I can only think of a few that didn't hold my interest or that I didn't really care for, all the others were a dead hit. I love going to Goodreads and reading other reviews just to hear I enjoy the stories that others didn't like. I, for whatever reason, love reading paranormal, true crime, horror, suspense, thrillers, and the gore and violence in a book rarely bothers me at all. In fact, I love it when the narrator can really set the mood with their voice and make you pay attention. Scaring me a little is the point, and these narrators did a great job reading these stories and setting the tone. I also like the fact the stories were short so you had time to pause before the next story began. This was my first audio book from Netgalley and I really enjoyed it. I'm definitely going to search for others.

I took a chance on this book despite the fact that I’m usually not the biggest fan of short story collections. I’m so glad I read it. This book is fantastic!

Each short story is written in such an intriguing and dynamic manner than I kept wanting more of every single one. Each story played out in my head like a movie. I, personally, would love to see a tv adaptation of it!

The narrators were phenomenal! Every single one stood out in their own individual way and increased my overall enjoyment of this book. I’m already recommending it to my friends.

Untold Mayhem is a fantastic collection of short thriller/horror stories. Mark Tullius thoroughly executes creepy storytelling for a late-night, campfire, or anytime listening. His stories are diverse and range in depth and length. These tales will leave you thinking after the fact as the author weaves together all types of wild scenarios. Some of the stories were excellent and some a little less than, but overall the whole collection was fun and goosebumpy. I have a strong feeling H.P. Lovecraft and, of course, Stephen King, maybe some of his influences. I love short stories, especially in this genre. Tullius has a way of allowing you to invest in the characters even if it's only for a brief time. Great book!

3.75/5 stars
TW: Abuse, self-injurious behaviour, suicide, excessive violence, death, blood, mental illness

This book is a compilation of horror short stories. Everything horror related is in it, from crime to paranormal stories, nothing is forgotten. To give you chills and keep you up at night or to make you paranoïd about that weird neighbor of yours, this book will do it all.

I got this book as an audiobook on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. Obviously as for every short story collection some were better than others. My personal favourites were the first two stories. All the stories are smartly crafted and the tension is nearly constant. Unfortunately I felt like some mental disorders are badly represented but it’s quite common in horror.

The cast of narrators is great. They each give life to the stories in their own way. The fact that the voices are often changing makes it easier to understand that you're not on the same story if you weren’t paying attention when they announced the chapter titles.

Even if I’m not a fan of short stories because I often feel like they aren’t as impactful as a whole book, I found that these really worked well and had a great pacing.

I think the audio format worked well for the stories as it made them even scarier in my opinion.

The only thing I would change is the representation of mental disorders and maybe diversify the characters a bit more.

All in all I recommend this book to everyone who wants to be a bit scared and who aren’t afraid of gore.

Lurking in the soundwaves of this audiobook are 24 dark and twisted tales. This 'tantalizing blend' of macabre tales of suspense, horror, and undeniably grizzly crime will tickle the fancies of hardcore horror fans.

Each tale is unique and stands on its own. Yet, they are connected by three short words - dark...disturbing...violent.

The book cover caught my eye right off. I enjoyed the soothing tone of the narrators voice in part. The story became a bit too bloody for my taste. I am ashamed to admit II must have accidentally hit a wrong button whilst checking out the impressive book cover. All that being said I firmly feel if this was a genre I was comfortable reading I would have rated it a solid 3 1/2.

If this kind of book is your jam than you will love it!

Thank you NetGalley and Vincere Press for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I Loved this collection of short stories! I felt like each one was a mystery in itself. Each story was unique and grotesque in it's own way and I couldn't wait for the next one to start. Each Narrator brought their own style to the stories and I appreciated their diversity.
Having grown up with Stephen King and Dean Koontz, I really appreciated Mark Tullius's writing. I will listen to this one again and again.
Recommended for fans of HORROR, Mystery thrillers and those seeking a quick read.
loved it!

This overall was a really good group of short stories. Of course with every book of short stories you’re bound to like some and also to dislike some. For the purposes of this book, I have the following rating system: Hate (1), Dislike (3), Meh (7), Like (6), and Love (7).

I’m not going to go into detail for each story, but I will mention that the one I hate it’s News First and while I’m up for some good ole fashioned gore and nastiness, but damn. This story went there and beyond. It hit a little too close to home with the shooting then it took it too far. I hated it so much that I almost couldn’t take it.

The stories I absolutely love are The Hole, The Fine Print, Left Behind, Counting on It, No Service, The Feeling is Back, and Left Unfinished. Each one of these had a quality that was either creepy, scary, or had harsh justice that I can really get behind. Sometimes I didn’t see the ending coming and other times I was giggling with joy at the karma of it all. So while I really, really, REALLY hated the one story, there were too many that I liked or loved to say it was anything below four stars.

So while I totally do recommend this, watch out, when the description says violence, they mean it!! If you’re not into the blood and gore, definitely skip News First and be cautious when reading the rest. But enjoy!!!!

Thanks so much to NetGalley, Vincere Press, and Mark Tullius for a copy of this book for my honest and unbiased opinion.

I really enjoyed each story. I knew every book would end in a death, but for some reason each story blew me away. Some were a lot better than others, but overall they were all so good! This is the first time I've read a collection on stories in any genre, and I must say, I am so happy this was my first!

I was given a copy of this audiobook for review.

Each of the narrators for each story was a different person. I was not expecting this, as prior audiobooks, I have listened to use one. This made the stories I believe far better to listen to. Each of these stories was worth the listen, I extremely enjoyed the first story. The collection of horror stories were well selected. If you are seeking for some good stories, this is the audiobook for you.

Great quick stories with some tension and drama. A nice mix of narrators to break them up as well.

Some stories were just too obvious and not as intriguing, others just the horror factor...some wher well flushed out and fascinating. Overall a good mix that kept me entertained.

A nice collection of stories. Some I really enjoyed and some not so much. While a few were very predictable, they were still enjoyable. I really enjoyed Fine Print, probably my favorite. Dead Spots and Numbered Days were also good reads.

Untold Mayhem is an anthology of short horror / creepy stories all written by the same author. As usual with anthologies I found the stories to be a mix of ones I loved and ones not so much. My particular favourites were In The Cards, Pillow Talk and Numbered Days. In The Cards was about a tarot card reader discovering something shocking about the person she was doing the reading for. This story had a crime thriller type vibe as well as a paranormal one. Pillow Talk was more of a suspense thriller which I can't say anymore about without spoiling the story. And Numbered Days was more of a gruesome, gory horror story and really satisfied my messed up brain ha ha... I really liked how there was a huge range of types of horror stories, from body horror to slasher to suspense etc And I loved how sometimes the twist wasn't revealed right until the last few seconds.
Unfortunately there were some stories that I didn't really like and some that we're just ok so that brought the whole book down to an average 3 stars.
I listened to this book as an audiobook and I really enjoyed that experience. I particularly liked how each story had a different narrator which helped me transition from story to story. Each story had it's own track so it was easy to go back and re-listen to the ones I loved to catch extra details.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a providing me with a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Gave up at 25%. Reads like middle-schoolers sitting around a campfire telling ghost stories. Easy to picture someone holding a flashlight under their chin for the final line of each short story. Formulaic, thoroughly unpleasant. Not my cup of tea.

A varied collection of horror, crime and suspense. I found that there was a real mix of stories in this book- some I really enjoyed, others didn’t really hit the mark. The ones I did enjoy, I liked the fact they really were short stories, quick and to the point while still being creepy. Although I can’t remember the names of the particular stories my favourites were the opening story with The Tarot Reader and the story about the dentist! Enough to give you nightmares! Gruesome and suspense filled!
The narration of this audiobook was mainly good, one or two questionable accents in one of the stories but apart from that I found the storytellers were great at creating the correct atmosphere fitting to each story.

This is a collection of horror short stories with a variety of themes.

As with most short stories collections, there are some stories I enjoyed, and others that didn’t manage to grab my attention. Some of the stories fell short and when they ended I felt like they didn't really finish, like it could have ended in the middle of the story almost. A few of the stories aren't really memorable but I guess that could just be personal preference.

Some of the stories were really interesting and creative, gripping from the start and very well thought out.

If you're a fan of horror, I recommend this book. There will be some stories in this collection that will reach out and grab you.

A rather mediocre short stories compilation, only a few made impressions but most are forgettable. Some of the ideas are wild and imaginative, but only if the execution is better. Narrators did excellent job though!
