‘Christmas was just three days away, and Robin was about to head out on a adventure. He was off to visit his grandpa, who lived all the way on the other side of the mountain in the Valley of the Three Trees’

ROBIN’S CHRISTMAS JOURNEY by Maya Onodera is such a sweet story.
It’s about a little mouse who’s braving all sorts of danger to spend Christmas with his grandfather.
It really is the kind of comforting stories you need during these cold nights, wrapped up in your blankets.
Family is really a very important and special element in our life and sometimes our elders feel disconnected because of the gap of generations but all we need to do is to take some times and talk to them.
You would be surprise of the life they had and sometimes the ordeals they had to face.
Christmas is the perfect time to reconnect with them, but you don’t have to wait until Christmas to do so, because time waits for no one so enjoy every moment while you still can.
Back to the book, I recommend reading this even if it’s supposed to be a children’s book, or make it a present for parents so they can read it with their children for example, wouldn’t be a perfect Christmas gift?

This is a story of a brave little mouse named Robin. He sets out on a journey and along the way encounters many things that prolong his journey to see his grandfather. He does make it and is greeting with a warm embrace.

This is a pretty typical Christmas story of someone trying to get to a loved one, and obstacles being put in their path. In a way this reminds me of the Hobbit. That solo journey when Bilbo escaped and found the end with a bit of brains and a lot of luck. Well, it’s the same plot, just not as many orks and no golem. Overall the story is nice, but it’s long winded. I think this would be better as a spoken word tale rather than a written one.

Robin the mouse is on adventure. His grandfather lives on the other side of the mountain and he wants to spend Christmas with his grandfather. You and your child will go on the journey with Robin as he goes thru torrential terrain. The illustrations are pleasing to the eye and your child will appreciate how Robin solves problems and never gives up!

It doesn't matter how old I get, a good Christmas picture book always brings all the feels! This book was no different.

Robin's Christmas Journey is a sweet little book with marvelous illustrations to bring Christmas cheer! This one has a fair bit of story packed tight in it, making it a good read for an older audience - maybe 5 years and up.

Robin is a little mouse and he goes on a journey. It's quite the whimsical yet scary journey for our little mouse friend, but it's still of adventure.

Overall, this is a great read for little adventure lovers!

Four out of five stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Clavis for sending me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

Robin's Christmas Journey is an adorable story of strength, courage, and determination. This is a great story for kids to learn about not giving up when obstacles appear in their paths - stay the course and you'll reach your goals! I love how it also teaches that Christmas isn't about gifts, but about being together with loved ones. The illustrations are cozy and done very well. I have to admit that I read the title before looking at the cover and I was a little surprised to see that Robin was a mouse and not the bird. My first impression of the title as a children's book would be of the bird, not a mouse. Overall, this is a sweet and cozy read no matter the time of year. I would recommend this book and purchase it for my son.

Robin's Christmas Journey is a sweet little book about adventure, overcoming obstacles, and being with the ones we love for Christmas. It's a simple story, but filled with adventure. The illustrations were lovely and I think little ones will enjoy seeing Robin make his way to Grandpa's house. I would gift this book to my niece.

Robin's Christmas Journey // by Maya Odonera

Robin's Christmas Journey is a wonderful addition to anybody's Christmas book lineup! Robin really wants to see his grandpa for Christmas and while the journey is long and dangerous, he is confident that he can make it there in time. I think the length of this book is perfect for a young reader ready for their own adventure or for a parent to read to their young child. This book can teach them perseverance in both real life and as a reader embarking on their first book that isn't just a few words per page. The illustrations are very cute and keep the experience fun as a reader or listener. Robin has to figure out how to get out of several tricky situations but shows us that with determination we can read what is important to us in the end.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Little Robin wanted to spend Christmas with his Grandpa so badly, he journeyed through the woods and over the mountain on his own, but things didn't go as planned, he ran into some mishaps that threaten his life. A lovely story with vibrantly colored quirky illustrations, it's a nice book. I’m sorry for the three-star but it truly needs a little adjusting.

This is a cute Christmas adventure story. The illustrations are very nice. Robin wants to visit his grandfather for Christmas. He has a long journey and many predators and obstacles on the way. He is courageous and nothing stops him. I thought maybe there were too many predators. All in all it was a cute story and makes a cute Christmas story.

Thanks to netgalley, Clavis Publishing and Maya Onodera for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

There is something about that magical combination of Christmas, gift giving and grandparents, isn't there?
Robin's Christmas Journey is the perfect adventure picture book for younger readers. With vivid, beautifully drawn illustrations and a range of age appropriate literary devices - I believe any adventurous child would love to have this as their bedtime story.

The only problem I encountered as an adult reader was that the writing appeared ever so slightly disjointed in places, usually as Robin passed in-between the various stages of his journey to Three Trees. Aside from that, I look forward to purchasing this book for my church explorers group!

I am a bit torn about this one. The idea behind the story works even though it is nothing truly original. Little mouse Robin sets off in what becomes an adventure, wanting to spend Christmas with his grandfather. During his journey he is targeted by several predators. Now, I realize that a good adventure story needs obstacles along the way that the hero must overlap but these ones became repetitive after a while. It was animal after animal after animal chasing Robin (and how does a cat end up in the mountains?) I would have liked to see more variety in what Robin comes across be it good or evil.
The story is quite wordy for such young readers which makes me think this would stand better as a read aloud book. Readers of the suggested target age might also need some help with the vocabulary.
Most of the illustrations are nicely done and compliment the text without stuffing it. However, I find that there is a significant difference in the ability of the illustrator to portray landscape and characters. While, in their majority, landscapes are beautifully done, I found some of the characters (particularly the rabbits) almost creepy. There is room for development in expression as well as facial characteristics.

A story of courage and resilience ideal to explore with younger children. Great book for discussions around keeping safe.
A lovely little story with great illustrations and so much action. Children will love this.
A story to share as vocabulary in places a little complex for the age range.
I look forward to sharing this with the children.
