I made it about three-fourths of the way through this book before I decided it really didn't feature much of what I was hoping for — publish-worthy tidbits, neat little insights from behind the scenes at Game of Thrones. It felt scattershot, to be honest, with a lot of one-line stories that begged for elaboration and further questioning. I found it a bit distracting how quickly it jumped from one unrelated incident to the next without much of a sense of connection, and how little sense of the actors or production or development of the show it gave me. Not difficult reading, but not as satisfying as I was hoping.

This is the book that Game of Thrones fans have been waiting for! It's like rewatching the entire series again, but with cast and crew members sitting beside you giving you all the inside information about how it got made, as well as all the fun backstage anecdotes along the way. A must for any GOT fan, but is also for anyone wanting to understand what goes into the making of such an epic television series.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing the ARC for review.

Game of Thrones fans may be torn on this one. Although James Hibberd's experience as an insider for Entertainment Weekly on the set of one of HBO's most acclaimed shows, he brings nothing new to the table.
The supposedly "new interviews" and "never before seen photos" are just recycled material from ET and snippets that were probably cut from publication in a previous print run.
Game of Thrones diehards may find this one worthy to add to their collection, but don't expect jaw-dropping actor confidentials from it.
