Thank you to the fantastic team at Forever for the ARC. Well, another Dream Team story is over, and I hate to say this again, but Kristen Ashley needs a fresh start. Like, get out of Denver, move far, far away and have another set of people worry about another set of issues. We need to stop intertwining Chaos with Rock Chicks and Dream Men. I mean, I get that was the whole concept of the series, but I can't picture any type of fresh start here cause I keep getting these flashbacks of when I read the original story. That said, the book itself is ok, you have the main heroine who doesnt exploit the stripper concept, but you again have an alpha male comando that quite honestly, Im completely over with. It's just more of the same with a different title. Though I particularly enjoy her writing style, I feel some dialogues are repeated. Sex scenes decreased WAAAAYYY too much, and if you put a Dom and a Sub in a book description yet you DONT showcase at least one scene properly described, then we have a confusing role there. I get it he wasnt into the whole role playing, but she's done a few good Dom-Sub scenes in the past without too much into it that actually got the job done. This one? Other than the scarf, zero. Sorry to be blunt, but besides the fact that Sussanah Jones rescued the story by narrating it, I am seriously reaching the end of my book love affair w KA. |

DREAM CHASER is the second instalment in Kristen Ashley’s contemporary, adult DREAM TEAM erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on a group of women, exotic dancers, who call themselves the Dream Team. This is exotic dancer Kathryn ‘ Ryn’ Jansen, and fixer / commando Boone Sadler’s story line. DREAM CHASER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an on-going premise throughout. The DREAM TEAM series is a spin off from the author’s Rock Chick, Chaos and Dream Man series, and several characters cross-over for familiarity and cohesion. NOTE: If you have not read book one DREAM MAKER there may be spoilers in my review. Told from first person perspective (Ryn) and third person (Boone) following several different paths, DREAM CHASER follows in the weeks after the Dream Girls were abducted and subsequently rescued by the ‘commandos’, a group of former US soldiers who now worked domestic civilian contracts for Hawk Delgado, but in the months following the abduction, Ryn Jansen would find herself under the protection of commando Boone Sadler, a man she believes despises the ground upon which she walks. An invitation to a Dom/sub event finds sub Ryn Jansen facing her abductor, a man who is trying to prove that he is innocent of the accusations of killing a police officer, but a man who is also protective of our story line heroine. Another murder pulls Ryn into the spotlight as the commandos begin a search for a dirty cop, and Ryn becomes the target of betrayal and revenge. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Ryn and Boone, and the potential fall-out as the threats against our heroine increase, and Ryn struggles with Boone’s need to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. Meanwhile, Ryn’s dysfunctional family begins to implode as her brother Brian and his ex Angelica’s contentious relationship spills over into the lives of their children. As Ryn has been more of a mother to the children then their own parents, our heroine will be pushed from their lives when she refuses to continue to enable her alcoholic brother, and the mother he once loved. Ryn Jansen wants to flip houses but two steps forward always results in one step back every time Brian or Angelica call looking for money or help. As a ‘sub’ in the BDSM life, Ryn is hoping to find someone who will give in to her needs but Ryn hasn’t had much luck when it comes to Doms or love. An independent and feisty heroine, Ryn is pulled in too many directions including falling for a man who may or may not be falling for her. Boone Sadler is a former US soldier, now working as a commando for Hawk Delgado, and a Dom in the BDSM lifestyle. Boone is not currently looking for a sub but finds a willing participant in Ryn Jansen, a woman who stirs something deep within our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word, often used for shock value more than anything else. The BDSM, Dom/sub premise is prevalent throughout the story but moderate to minimal in content and form, limited to a few light scenes, and not at all kinky or carnal. Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar, secondary and supporting characters including Hawk Delgado, Augustus Auggie Hero, Chaos MC members Joker and Hound; Mo and Lottie, Mag and Evie; Elvira, Axl, the Rock Chicks; the ‘Dream Team’ dancers, Pepper, Ava and Hattie; their boss Smithie, and security specialist and Smithie’s nephew Dorian; Mama Nana, and her security guard Jorge; and Cicso aka Brett Rappaport. We are introduced to Ryn’s mother, brother Brian, his ex Angelica, and their children Jethro and Portia, and Angelica’s mother Brenda; Boone’s parents Anne-Marie and Porter; Domme Corinne Morton; detectives Mueller and Bogart. Hattie and Axl’s story line is next in DREAM SPINNER. DREAM CHASER is a story of family, relationships, betrayal and love. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is seductive and captivating; the characters are energetic, strong and charismatic. This was my first attempt at reading a Kristen Ashley book and although I can recognize that the woman can obviously write, I just wasn't feeling this book. I did at first but it's way too wordy and perhaps it's just this time of year, but I'm bored and skimming pages just to get to the 'good stuff'. It's a complicated kind of tale and the characters are endearing for the most part but for now it's a dnf with hopes I'll go back to read it when my mind is clearer and I don't mind all the many, many details that cloud each page. 2.5 stars, so far |
I loved Dream Chaser so much that after reading it I re read some of her other books!I have missed her writing!Dream Chaser was exactly what I needed, it was heartwarming , fast paced and captivating. I adored Ryn and Boone, they were just amazing! They have some sweet and intense moments.I fall in love with them. "So tear down the walls, Ryn, I want in, I’m getting in and we’re gonna see where this goes.” |
3.5 stars The first book in this series had got me interested in each characters and potential couples. Dream Chaser was Ryn and Boone's story. The underlying suspense of what will happen and also the budding relationship between the two main characters were great and kept me reading on. It was fascinating to see where this story would go. I enjoyed the friendships of the guys and the girls respectively. It was definitely a team atmosphere amongst the groups. I also liked each character individually. The Dream Team series are interconnected standalones and am intrigued to see how the connected storyline will play out and also the journey of the two remaining couples. Overall, Dream Chaser was a good read. |
When you can take me back to the Rock Chick and Dream Man worlds – and give me another series full of even more! Well. You had me at Kristen Ashley. I am loving the Dream Team series, getting the chance to get caught up and run into so many of my favorites from Rock Chick and Dream Man. I am in happy reader overload. Ryn and Boone make a deliciously sexy… and totally stubborn couple, each for different reasons. They aren’t perfect by any means, they each have their issues to face themselves and together – but they are perfect for each other long-term if they can stop being bull-headed about the attraction between them that is very real, and very intense. It would be so easy to just tell you all about Dream Chaser. So easy. But I will not ruin this delectable story for you. If you’ve read anything by Kristen Ashley then you already have an idea of what is in store for you here – hot, sexy, intense leads who are often funny, grumpy, and totally devoted to the ones they love… it really is that simple. Toss in some laughter, some sexy times, a few old friends, maybe some new ones, definitely some bad guys, along with some intense action scenes and you’ll feel right at home in this world once again. I loved Boone and Ryn individually and together as a couple. They work and that comes across to the reader. If you love a really good Romantic Suspense, tense moments, sinfully sexy relationships, and a couple who will draw you in as they tell you their story — then Dream Chaser is perfect for you. There is a reason that I re-read Rock Chicks, Dream Men, and now Dream Team at least twice a year… this world is just that good. Indulge yourself and Enjoy. I also purchased a copy of Dream Chaser for my personal collection. *I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Forever via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.* |
When Kristen Ashley teased the first book this series, Dream Maker, to her readers in 2019, I couldn’t wait, and it instantly became one of my most anticipated books of 2020. I absolutely loved her Dream Man series, and to this day, it’s one I reread often. The commandos were always these interesting, elusive guys popping up when everyone needed them most. I wanted to know more about them then, and I’m beside myself that KA is giving that to readers now. Dream Chaser is the second book in Kristen Ashley’s Dream Team series, and I absolutely loved everything about Boone and Ryn’s story. The Dream Team series is a brand new series starring new characters who’ve really only been alluded to in her previous books and series. KA readers often wax poetic about “old school KA,” a reference to her early writings which are widely viewed as some of the greatest contemporary romances of our time. I think she managed to sate those readers with these books by delivering two stories so far that were both comfortingly familiar but still felt brand-spanking-new. It was wonderfully nostalgic but with a fresh spin. One thing KA readers agree upon is that her stories aren’t just about the hot guy hero. He’s a star, don’t get me wrong, but her heroines are equally dynamic and hold their own in the face of all that alpha-hotness. She pens strong, sassy, smart women, and she makes them part of a tribe of friends who define what it means to belong to a sisterhood. I read KA stories just as much for those fabulous female-positive friendships as I do for the heart-racing, heat-filled, knee-weakening romances they’re swept up in. In Dream Chaser, KA gives her heroine, Ryn, a solid support system in Smithie’s girls, and their brand of mischief and sisterhood holds its own against that of the Rock Chicks or the Chaos old ladies – who make liberal appearances and welcome the strippers into the fold. Ryn and Boone each come to the table with their own issues, and they both share a very particular sexual preference. While there is a Dom/sub element to their relationship, readers need not be overly concerned if BDSM isn’t your jam. This was a taste, a dabble if you will, and while their romance was not overwhelmed by their kink, it most definitely fanned the flames of that heat between them to scorching levels. Ryn’s hard exterior protects a heart of gold, and she’s stretched thin caring for her niece and nephew as she covers for their neglectful, lazy, substance-abusing parents. Stripping was only supposed to be a means to an end for her, but unfortunately her family situation has thrown a wrench in her plans. Her life is complicated, but when she lets that wall down and finally lets Boone in, she finds a true partner in him. Boone was precisely the man for her, in every conceivable way, and his commanding, consistent pursuit, presence and then partnership with her was exactly the kind of sigh-inducing, swoon-worthy, romance novel magic I crave from KA. Dream Chaser was everything I love about a Kristen Ashley romance. A resilient, sharp and feisty heroine and a protective, decisive, caring alpha male in a love story full of feels, fun and fire. I literally inhaled this book, loving every single moment, word and scene of it. I didn’t want to put it down, I didn’t want it to end, and I’m already anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. A top favorite of the year, Dream Chaser by Kristen Ashley gets five smooches from me! ~Danielle Palumbo, Red Cheeks Reads |
Wow ! Another great read from Kristen Ashley ! In the second book in her Dream Maker series Kristen Ashley gifted readers with Ryn and Boone's story. Like usual with this fabulous author, I couldn't get enough as the journey to Ryn and Boone's happy ending was at times equally exciting and emotional, and like always exceptionally memorable. It flew by much too fast for me since I am forever falling in love with Ms. Ashley's amazing characters. Ryn possessed the strength, sass and heart of every Ashley heroine, and well, Boone reminded me so much of my favorite Motorcycle Man Tack. He looked out for Ryn even though she tried to push him away. Ryn took a lot on her shoulders but she could be fierce whenever it counted. Boone's protectiveness and Ryn's stubborn streak got things off to a bad start at the beginning. Then the very minute Ryn was in danger right into the fray rushed hero Boone to the rescue. This awesome story had everything to keep the reader flipping pages. It had a great story, red hot romance, hot commandoes and down to earth dancers with hearts of gold, and suspense aplenty to keep it lively. I really loved this book ! I am addicted to the new series and can't wait for Hattie and Axl in the next book. |
Not my first read by the author, I am a HUGE fan and have read all fo her books and re-read many many times. That said, I am a HUGE fan of her original writing and if you’ve read KA you know what I mean. So this little different style I haven’t been able to fully connect with but still enjoyed! I also have read Book 1 in this series! Kathryn “Ryn” is a woman trying to basically make it. However she knows and can at best. She is strong, beautiful, sweet and has a huge heart! That big heart of hers is what gets her into situations she may not want to be in but because she loves her family, she will do anything to help! Boone is a man that you would have to be dead not to instantly like, he is alpha, dominant, sweet in his own way. Them two together are steamy, sexy, sweet and exciting! I really loved the chase aspect as usual in a true KA fashion she dishes them out beautifully. I really do love the author’s writing style and yes as much as it reminded me of the original KA writing, still was different enough that I couldn’t connect right away, took me a little. Maybe because it is a mixture of Rock Chick-NESS if that makes sense, but that is one of the series I did not read aside from the first 2 books and did not enjoy. So maybe that’s why to me personally it was a little off and I couldn’t just get there but I enjoyed it enough to love these two, because them together was so thrilling in and out of bed! |
This was Boone and Ryn's story, I was intrigued with Ryn and so I loved to get this story now. It can be read as stand-alone but I suggest your read Dream Maker as well. If you have read the Rock Chick series you know some of the characters that make cameos in this new series. The angst and suspense is good but not that much, this is a spin-off from Dream Man and Rock Chick so it is very similar to those. Definitely enjoying this series. |
Kristen Ashley's writing is so familiar. She has the tendency to get wordy and some may even say rambling but this style is so uniquely her and we love that. I do feel that this series is this author returning to her origins because like the last book this one gives me major Rock Chicks vibes. Another one of KA's trademarks is strong heroines but I loved Ryn especially. She was such a tough cookie and so sweet, with so much love to give. She'd give her last penny for her family and friends, that's just how she was. I hated for her when Boone was a jerk and I'm not gonna lie, for a bit I wouldn't have minded if someone else had swept in and taken Ryn away. But we know how Kristen Ashley can make us love the biggest jerk and once Boone realized that the way to Ryn's heart was persistence and it was a doozy. Boone went all out. "So tear down the walls, Ryn, I want in, I’m getting in and we’re gonna see where this goes." So, yeah, one moment I wanted to kick him out of Ryn's bed, the next one I wanted to beg him to never leave her. He proved that he was just the man she needed. The guy she could take a load off with, hand over control to, who protected her and who made her life easier and spoiled her rotten. The gentleness which he treated her with was a dichotomy to his bossiness in the bedroom but I think that's why it worked. “I never wanted much with a guy. Just that he’d get who I was and like it. How has my life, that has been mostly coasting on the love of my mom, a few good times, and the ability to keep on trucking, led me to you?” If you're like me and don't read a lot of BDSM books (although I do enjoy them occasionally) you'll be fine with the amount and kind of display of the lifestyle. This story doesn't delve too deeply into the BDSM lifestyle so if that's your jam this will work for you. If you expect some detailed scenes and a realistic D/s relationship you're out of luck. What I love most about KA's books is that I get to hang out with familiar faces. For first time readers this may be an issue, the amount of name-dropping is crazy and will have everyone, who doesn't know at least the Rock Chicks, Dream Men and Chaos series, in complete confusion. But since I don't belong to that group of people this was my type of a fabulous time. This installment was just as enjoyable as the first book in this series and I'm drooling, DROOLING when I think about Axl and Hattie's story, which is next! "Love just happens. It just blooms. Then it's yours to give. And you give it. The end." |
Kristen Ashley has always been a go to author for me. I love the world she created in Denver and that she has another series weaving in with all the others. The Dream Team is back in this second book of the series. Ryn and Boone have crossed paths before but Ry has always shied away from Boone. Although they run in the same lifestyle Ryn has her fears due to some family trauma. Boone is an alpha as only KA can write them. He works tirelessly to insert himself in her life and help her realize how great they are together. With some family dramatics and a mystery Ryn finds herself entangled in this story moves fast and is a very good read. So good to get back to this world and see how all the characters are doing over the years. Looking forward to more from the Dream Team! |
As much as I enjoyed Ryn and Boone’s chemistry and overall storyline, some of the dialogue and the lack of redeeming qualities left me wanting more. |
I was more than ready to go back to the Dream Team. When Dream Chaser landed in my kindle, I immediately buckled up and got ready for another fun, exciting and swoon-worthy ride in KA’s world in Denver. Ryn was a strong, loyal and kind woman who had too much on her shoulders. Boone, insightful, loving and protective, was exactly what Ryn needed. I loved their witty banter and candid exchanges. Their mutual respect and understanding made them great partners both inside and outside the bedroom. Besides the romance, the story was also filled with surprises and crazy troubles. If you have read the Rock Chicks or Dream Men series, you would feel the same vibe which was absolutely amazing. I could see an interesting storyline running in the back of the series with a lovable villain who had a sweet spot for women. Additionally, I loved that KA had included cameo appearances from characters from the previous series. All the hot bunch, dream men and bikers brought so much memories and I would never get enough of them. |
Boone wants Ryn. Ryn wants Boone. But Ryn won't let Boone in because... well, only she knows the answer to that. It seemed, to me, that she was a bit lost with her own logic. If she didn't get it, how could I? And how could Boone? After asking and being turned away repeatedly, it's no wonder he went somewhere else. So why is Ryn all torn up about it? And why is Boone still looking out for her? And why is she mad at him for looking out for her? Ah, the drama... you were missed! Getting into the heart of this story wouldn't be right. It needs to be experienced. You need to take this journey for yourself, to find out why Boone and Ryn were perfect for each other. You need to learn, through these words, how KA was able to capture the true essence of these characters, bringing them to life, highlighting their flaws and bestowing us with their virtues. Boone was one heck of a hero. Such a good man. And Ryn gave just as good as she got. There was chaos, bits of suspense, familiar faces, new alliances, and the setup for what I believe will be the love story to follow -- I can't be the only one who was feeling all there was to feel with Axl and Hattie. I don't think there's anything in the world quite like getting lost in a book by Kristen Ashley. Dream Chaser is said to be a spin-off of two of my favorite series (Dream Man and Rock Chick) and if Boone and Ryn are any indication, this seems about right. Whether it was Boone's alphaness or Ryn's independence or the camaraderie of the larger group that convinced me, it doesn't even matter. I enjoyed every word! |
I really enjoyed Dream Maker, but this book fell flat for me. When Ashley tells a story I love, I can look past all her tics and writing issues. When I don't love the story, I see all it's flaws. And there were no many flaws here. Fat shaming Evil ex-wife/girlfriend (the heroine's ex-sister in law) Too many descriptions Too many people- Does every person from Rock Chick, Chaos and ever the Anti Hero series have to make an appearance. Poorly defined BDSM relationship, no discussion of consent, safeword is discussed on page but only in regards to arguments Conflicting statements about sex workers/strippers Casual misogyny from the two "bad" cops Using the threat of rape as a plot point The most interesting thing about this book was Brett/Cisco. One last thing- Ashley refers to Hawk as a "mutt". This is an incredibly offensive way to refer to a human being. It is cringe worthy from her self published books from 2012. It is terrible from a traditionally published book in 2020/21 |
This series is classic Kristen Ashley: commandos, wacky heroines, over the top drama, and Colorado landmarks. I love it! DREAM CHASER was a fun addition to the series. Lots of your favorite characters make cameo appearances, but Ryn and Boone (the most KA names EVER) were definitely at the book’s center. Ryn is a stripper (as are all the heroines in this series) and has been fighting her friend’s attempts to hook her up with Boone, a black ops commando-type hero. I can’t blame the woman, her life is crazy! Messy family, a huge house to flip, and money problems due to said chaotic family, she doesn’t have the time. Add to that, Ryn and Boone had a rocky start in the previous book. Boone has his own demons but eventually gets on his metaphorical horse and goes after Ryn. There is something I love about a damsel in distress and this series really feeds that part of me. I like that Ryn still rolls up her sleeves and fixes her life, but Boone is there to point out that she has a community around her willing to help, and he wants to be a significant part of that community as her man. Ryn and Boone had incendiary chemistry and the fun-yet-emotional banter KA is known for. As an added layer, Boone is a Dom and, Ryn is a Sub, but that isn’t too much of the plot; it’s just one more part of their personalities and lifestyles that ends up working so well. I like that both Ryn and Boone were experienced members of the BDSM community, and consent and boundaries were discussed. It’s a good book if you want to dip your toe into Dom/Sub romances! The plot was a little too chaotic at times (and I don’t mean the Chaos MC). There were too many divergent plot points – it took away from the connection between Ryn and Boone. KA is throwing everything but the kitchen sink in this series, and most of it is fun, but sometimes it makes the book hard to read. It’s worth it for the nostalgia alone, though! Overall, this was another great book in the Dream Team series. I read it in a single day; it’s addictive! Kristen Ashley is a fun and fabulous author, and I can’t wait for the next book! **I received a free copy of this book in order to provide an honest review** |
I have a confession. I reread (re-listen) to Kristen Ashley books religiously and Rock Chicks is one of my all time forever faves. I was itching for my fix when this amazing ARC hit Netgalley and subsequently, my kindle. All hail the ARC gods!! lol Anywhoo, I devoured it! Straight up read like the wind. I smiled the entire time. This is the KA I fell in love with and needed to get my over this last hump of 2020. The book has everything KA fans love, though I have to admit the action was not as OTT as I'd hoped. If I have any critique, that'd be it. Apparently, I'm a crazy who loves chase scenes, shootouts, and kidnappings. Huh, who knew. lol But what I did 100% love were the characters and the overall storyline. This formula works for me in a major way and I simply cannot get enough. Boone is amazing. Ryn, first of all has a kickass nickname, and is a solid character. We get cameos from a lot of the hot bunch and dream man gang. Chaos shows up and even the unfinished heroes get a nod. So yea, the characters work for me in a big way. The flow was good and the writing is quintessential KA, Overall, just a really fun time! Recommended to fans of the series. |
Dream Chaser By: Kristen Ashley 📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚 Fun, Fun, Fun Oh boy or should I say girls? In this fun spinoff series we get more of this amazing authors words, see old and new friends and get taken on a wild ride. Rye was a girl full of life that she brought family baggage along for the ride. But Boone was a bit of a hard read from the start but oh did this author turn these two around page after page. The writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shocking moments. I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. Author Blurb: Ryn Jansen has no interest in taking a risk on Boone Sadler. Thanks to a long list of men who've done nothing but let her down, Ryn vows to stay far away from the caring, protective commando. And when Boone confronts Ryn with evidence that her loved ones are conning her, Ryn is less than thrilled with her family and Boone. But even as Boone proves he's the kind of guy to meet her every need, she doesn't trust him to stay when life gets hard . . . Boone Sadler's never been one to back down from a challenge. He's determined to show the funny, sexy Ryn that the irresistible connection between them is worth exploring. But caring for Ryn's heart and body becomes a matter of life and death when Ryn's beloved niece and nephew are put in danger and dirty cops begin gunning for Ryn. Soon Boone realizes their romance is in danger of more than heartbreak -- and to have any future together, they'll have to put their trust in each other. This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic. Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕 |
Love, love, love this book with all the snark and the passion that is Ryn and Boone. They have quite a connection with the Dom and Sub thing and I just hadn't seen that coming, but it worked great. As always, I love the way Ms. Ashley handles the family dynamics with the kids who may or may not be part of the biological mix, but always the love mix. You're not going to want to miss this one! |
